As a police officer on the island of Altis I encounter criminals from all walks of life. More often then not I am told that the reasons for committing the crime in the first instance is due to a lack of funds, employment and being homeless. Today I arrive at my desk to find a leaflet in the mail from a charity known as Stepping Off The Streets, reading through the material I feel inspired by all of the amazing stories and the things that people have accomplished with a little bit of help. This Saturday I have decided that I will do a fun run from peaches field north of sydney to sydney PD and am looking at the kind citizens to sponsor my run and will kick it off with a 500k donation from myself, all funds raised will go towards a randomly selected civilian to purchase a house and/or a truck so that they can gain means of employment. All donations will be recorded and logged as well as posted on the forums. The fun run will kick off at 4pm Saturday. As an employer in this fine city I will donate $4,000,000 to keep unemployment down. But this will have to be split to two civilians (enough to buy a hemmit box, some clean clothes a sidearm [for personal protection] and some food each) I can arrange the transfer of money sometime tonight (has to be cash in hand as I don't want the tax man taking my money), The money might be a little bit dirty so I'll take it to the laundromat to clean it up before I hand it to you

Breaking News :- A man running a charity run has been struck at high speed from behind by a Police Hatchback with 3 wheels. Witnesses describe the driver as a short angry sounding guy. In a statement the driver said "Bro, what do you EXPECT, the guy was running on the road!". When it was explained to the driver that he was escorting the runner, and it was the runner he ran over he said "Cuz, @$"# you, and this stupid show, like, I am done." @denis

As far as I've been told (Reliable source mate-oh) The box we are on is already pretty high end, hence why a headless client is being suggested. I have to disagree, the server at peak time lags and makes it impossible to play depending on the amount of users, and as such we'd lose people due to "Shit server lel" It'd also give more incentive to donate for a reserved slot.

Pay more for better dedi?? I don't much about this stuff, but I know we will get the funds if it's needed for a better dedi a month. Altis Life donators are the best out there.

@Aidanjr: Headless Client will be a start. The other issue to look at is the version number of altis life compared to the current version , as there are "features" such as housing that are standard vs 3rd party scripts which are in use atm , same applies to the virtual garage system. Updating to the current build will remove the need for such 3rd party scripts as those features are standard currently. There is no quick and easy solution , and i am sure that all the SG Staff are aware that performance is an issue. Again , not here to flame or troll or bitch etc , but its good to have an honest heart to heart from SG Staff to community and back regarding known issues. Allows the great community fan base that exists to know the staff are aware of the issue and what steps etc are being taken to address it. That being said , no one is asking for or expecting said issues to be magically fixed from a forum post , script issues , server load issues take not only time and money , But also talented Development staff , and said people dont just fall at your feet from a forum thread. This being said , big applause to the people who have done such a great job back end server side to get the server running with all the things we take for granted. Its not easy , and with staff coming and going (real life is a thing - no one expects staff to stay on indefensibly) there is much to be proud of.

The problem is if you lower it to below what we get in peak times it will only affect the community's population and people will get annoyed there is no slots, and it is not a guaranteed fix to the server. On the other side of the story if you lower the slots. It will 'potentially' improve the performance and experience for those lucky enough to get a slot on the server. I do agree with @[AI] STALKER A Headless Client however would be the best fix, increasing performance for perhaps adding maybe a small amount of cost onto the server.

Easy fix, lower the max player limit from 120 to 90 or whatever

@Cjay: Agreed. It takes high end hardware to run a high slot server of the size being hosted. However , with the amount of constant crashes , if it is not feasible to hire the server needed to support the high end population without constant crashes , then would not The answer be to lower the max pop count? In the same way that a Club that does not have enough security to stop fights when it has max customer capacity on site simply lowers the max amount of people it allows thru it's doors. TLDR: If player count = Y causes constant crashes , then lower max player count to X.

Ok going to be brutally honest here. It takes alot of power to be able to run a altis life server of this size and thats just how it is. Now alot of people say " ohh they just need to buy a better server " Unfortnatley that's alot easier said than done. 1. The altis life server is running one of the highest end servers available. So if higher grade servers were purchase it would be so much more expensive that would be virtually impossible to pay for ( that is if you want a server that runs no-lag/desync/crashes ) And to the people saying "Streamline sucks why dont they use a better host" Streamline is just as good as any other server provider.

I agree, Something does need to be done and urgently to address the server crashes and the massive uptick in desync, lag and frame-drop in the last few weeks which has rendered the game mostly unplayable for me and probably others at peak times right now, confining me to early mornings or late nights if I want to play, which sucks because I love playing on the server and this community is awesome to be a part of but the server just doesn't seem to be able to cope with how popular Altis Life is at the current time. Like Stalker has said, no one here is angry or hateful, we just want to help the server grow and be the best it can be and we're just concerned on the affect the current crashes and lag and desync will have on attracting and keeping new players coming to the community.
