Hey lads, Straya Gaming has under gone the largest software and hardware upgrade so far. We now have 2 dedicated server that run most of our servers and software to run it. Dedicated Servers I7 6700K 16GB Ram 240 SSD 1TB Harddrive Software TCAdmin These as a combo will let our admins and mods to have access to restarting the server, deleting bans and more This will aid us as a community to grow bigger and into other video games easily. Who knows what the future could behold for us here in Straya Gaming. So a big thank you to everyone who helps out the community and thank you for the donations

Hey Guys, I am looking at changing the arrangement of Teamspeak channels for the I&A section of the Strayagaming teamspeak but wanted to run my ideas by the community as well as here some of your ideas as well. Currently we have 14 public channels in the I&A teamspeak but as all of you know, the pilot channel is the only one that people tend to use. The original design of the teamspeak was to ensure coordination between pilots, infantry and armoured units but in my experience this design has never worked and everyone just ends up in the pilot channel. I believe this is because pilots need to be on teamspeak (obviously) and then other players come on the TS, see where everyone else is and want to join the party. Now this has been this way for a very long time and I dont think much can be done to change that. The only way that would change if we made the pilots channel a locked channel, and an admin would have to drag you in which would be fiddly and annoying. All I would like to change at the moment is the channels above the pilots. I want to get rid of all of them. We could then add 3 Ground Force channels, 1 side mission channel and 1 server event channel underneath the pilots channel. I think its silly that the pilots are at the bottom and its the one that gets used the most. So basically it would look like this: Invade and Annex: Pilots : Transport/Air Defence/ CAS: Waiting for pilot slot: Waiting for CAS: Ground Force: Alpha: Bravo: Charlie: Side mission: Server Event Channel: Pilots: Infantry: Now you'll notice there is a new channel in there (waiting for cas). I want to introduce this because im sick of seeing pilots waiting for cas at its spawn. From now on if an admin or moderator sees a pilot waiting for a plane to spawn for any amount of time its an instant kick from the server and a loss of your pilot slot (if someone is waiting in the queue). The way its going to work is that pilots will queue for the CAS and every time that cas is destroyed it moves to the next person in the queue. I would also like to introduce a new role for players, being the Air Traffic Controller (ATC). I dont really think we need a new slot for it in the server but i would like to get a teamspeak tag organised for it which would have to be something you would apply for on the forums. The reason I would like there to be an application process is because I want to give this person further responsibilities than the rest of the players, for instance I would like them to manage both queues (Pilot slot and CAS) which would take a load off us admins. The introduction of this would also increase coordination in the pilot channel as well as 'on topic' chat in the pilot channel which has also been a problem lately. Having someone constantly talking about the mission in the channel would keep everyone focused I think. Anyway thats about it so let me know what you think

From reading most of what people have to say about cops logging in and responding to bank/fed it has come clear that some people don't understand whats really going on (This is a rebel point of view*WARNING*) Let's first be real with ourselves, when Bank or federal reserve is hit off on a slow day, morning or at night, you will always see at least 2+ Police Officers jump on, let it be known the came on not to patrol, not to go out with another officer and clean up the streets, but purely for the action that commences during bank robberies and federal reserve heists, and most of the people that log on for said purpose are not staying long after, this should not only be against the rules(although if you think about it, it technically is), it should also be frowned upon by higher-ups as people in the police force that work as a officer of the law to just get some action in during federal reserve or bank is not what being a whitelisted officer is about, and as someone who barely ever plays as a cop or medic, i still understand that.

At work ATM in lunch break so only a quick post (will put my ideas down in more detail tonight) In my opinion there are a lot more issues with bank/fed than who can actually participate (but ill go into that in tonight's post) 1) Once it is hit (i.e when the global email goes out) numbers are set (this used to be the way and it worked, what happened is that cops started logging in and attending mid fed/bank so then the rebels started doing it because the cops were) 2) Once it is hit you can no longer place any more defenses (i.e walls, towers gates etc.) or remove defenses until the situation is over (all cops and/or rebels dead or deserted) - I have seen cops (and rebels) deconstructing walls in the past to get in/out of the area. 3) There should be a rule in place that at least x amount of SRT have to be on to do bank/fed (as this is their job, Maybe make it so bank has to have at least 6 SRT on and fed 8 SRT on instead of cops on) this way SRT are doing their job and the 'regular' Police are holding the scene (i.e keeping onlookers away etc.) This way you can have a drone up watching fed/bank. 4) the declare of bank is good and I like the idea I know that many people are not going to like my 3rd point but I personally like a challenge and bank/fed are supposed to be the highest risk/reward and by doing this It means that you are really putting decision into your robbery

Gentlemen, October looks to be a cracking Month on Altis, with some Events making there way back onto the scene after a hiatus. In the works is a number of smaller events, that will drop over Weekends, and 2 Mid Weeks. A lot of the challenge is the trolling that goes on, so for the time being I have retired the longer themed ones I know you guys like (The Invasion and Outbreak) but in time we will get a new area for those to occur in. And of course, I have Halloween on my mind.... Have you ever been REALLY scared? So watch this space, October will be laid out here in the next few days. -Spec

Now i don't know if this is possible but if it is please consider it. So every now and again a secure Intel side mission will appear, instead of getting a unknown vehicle what if the mission would give you locations of AA, Armored patrols, infantry patrols and possible areas of major AT/AA threat when the next AO appears, by this i mean, if theres a MG static gun on top of a hill or building, a mark or circle on the map will show where it is, not exactly where but somewhere inside a circle on the map, this will allow the Intel mission to have more of a realistic feeling because your finding Intel on patrols and AA stations for the next AO, this is just a thought of mine, hope you like it.

Keep it simple. As soon as the teller is hit only the COPs and EMS online at the time can respond.

Realistically - once a group of criminals hits off the bank, there's not really much they can do when it comes to reinforcements except for externals. Possibly allow reinforcements for both sides BUT give a limit on how close they can get to bank/what they can do once they arrive. E.G Reinforcements can't directly insert into the bank (both sides) etc etc.

if higher ups are doing this they should be removed from there rank simple as that, if i was put into the commissioners shoes i would instantly start demoting everyone that simply joins to do fed then leaves.

Problem is, most of the people that do that are the officers that are higher ranked.

Having seen that even SP admit that it does keep an eye on the cop counter to maximise their own chances. It reinforces my opinion that Rebels will need to stay used to the concept of cop reinforcements (within reasonable timeframes) at bank and especially fed. Real Cops carry pagers or other communication devices, if something major happens the pager sounds and orders can be issued for more officers and specialised squads to respond to emerging situations. you want to try and game the system to be fighting against 4 taser rifles and 2-4 stings with top level weapons at bank or fed, nope have a surprise SRT team. If reinforcements are to be banned then the numbers of cops online to do bank of fed need to be bumped up to make up for it and avoid game-breaking disadvantages for cops and keep things balanced and most importantly fun for all factions, things get too skewed either way and people quit because playing that faction becomes a chore rather than fun. 8 for Bank and 10 for fed would work as a bare minimum as a trade-off.

When the bank goes off. Game on, rebels should be in position game face on. Anyone who is not online in game within in the rebel gang misses out. Now i think the same should be with the police. Purely for the fact that we are now getting cartels coming through again. So example SP start bank 15-20 cops on, 8 of which are SRT. Now SRT are skilled the best of the best. Sweet no worries bring it on. Syd bank shouldn't be easy. Gunfire starts 7 minutes in both cops and rebels have lost men. Cops decide to let the cartel waiting on stand by to respond. Here comes another 5-10 men armed with anything from mk18's to mk200's. Rolling in stiders So look I'm talking about when it's peak time not when 4 guys decide to rob bank, and they are waiting for enough cops to come online. So I think reinforcements shouldn't be a thing. As for when does bank start, that is as soon as the teller is hit and the server message goes out telling the server the Sydney bank is being robbed.

Lot's of interesting points made here, well done to everyone for engaging with the topic. 1) When a situation (Bank, Fed, Hostages, whatever) is underway, should it be a breaking of rules and RP to go to it? Absolutely not, from a police prospective officers will sign on for duty and will have to ask what the 10-18 (Situation Report) is and it is realistic for said officer to respond to that situation. It doesn't make sense for a cop to go "Awh I'm not allowed to help with a bank robbery in my city so I'm just gonna do gate duty", this does not reflect realism. Surprises make the game more interesting, and a roleplay server should reflect that "reinforcements" is a genuine concept. This is in no way META gaming and I could imagine the headaches this would cause Help Desk staff, Moderators and Admins if there was a help desk issue every time someone apparently logged in after the bank or fed officially started. Not to mention the difficulty in proving that a person had META knowledge of an ongoing situation in game, it is not feasible to enforce such rule and I agree with @Zac to say that both factions should have "reinforcements". It is only fair that if Police can have additional assets show up to the situation, the other side can do exactly that also. If there is 'proof' of a police officer, rebel or whoever - whom sent a message to say "Get on now, we're doing bank, etc" than that is META gaming and should be dealt with accordingly. However, it is not META gaming to 'sign on for duty' or 'wake up in the morning in your gang base' to get a phone call saying "Hey, the boys are out doing bank - come help us when you can". 2) What constitutes the start? Is it when you hit the Rob Teller? Is it when shots are fired? If the criminals robbing the bank are clumsy enough to be seen by police before they start actually robbing the bank. The police are subjected to engage with the rebels and are KOS for being within city limits. However, most of the time the police will be ordered to return to PD to prepare and gear up for a likely bank robbery. I think the bank only officially starts when the teller is being robbed and the global message is received by those on the server. The mere shots being fired at the start is rebel activity in city limits and cannot be considered as 'robbing the bank' unless the alarm is sounded. Back to realism and feasibility, it makes more sense to make the 'official start' of bank to be the global message/alarm so there is no issues policing the rule. Imaging having to go through extensive video evidence to find when the first shot was fired? It would be an absolute nightmare that would be heavily debated by both parties. No one can debate the global message and alarm time though. @Yuri - thank you for making your points, it helped me develop my thoughts on these points of contention.

110% Zach Smith, set in stone not "we thought we could so we did", and lots of good talk about it going on. If we can talk about do it can get written, and all are happy it makes the gameplay easier, less HD, less salty or frustrated players. Win - Win, and so far the fact it's all positive, upbeat, constructive stuff makes me pretty happy. Good job guys. Proud of you. -Spectral

@Fish Easy to follow is the goal Fishy, just some tweaks that cut out any grey and remove the sense that it is stacked on either side. @nclem This hangs around the ability of those on to pull gear and actually do it. I have watched 3 Banks in 4 days where Pub Slots and Cadets are not given anything, including one last night. Result? A flogging and 3 Cop vehicles lock picked and stolen. No drones up I could see by eye or in Zeus either. Looking for equality, and at some levels the delivery of this relies on people doing some work Bank Rebel Pro - get to set the time, get to setup first, get to dictate the kickoff, often outgun the Cops, multiple externals, may have explosives Con - travel time, gear cost, jail, outnumbered, risk vs reward Cop Pro - close travel under 60 seconds, get to use drones, air assets in play, can use Cartel to backup/boost numbers Con - outgunned, metagamed against/trolled by Civ in back roads, have to respond on no notice, have different levels of experienced officers on. Feds more in depth, but you get what I mean, not looking to penalise either side, just, clarity. Other rules I want to look at is VDM, the hard definition pulling people out and flipped Cars, increasing the scope of it. Servers grown a lot, got to adapt.

I liked the suggestion of having a MAX player count for both sides of fed. 12 Cop - 12 Rebel This means that we might actually have surplus to still be patrolling in sydney/other cities.\ In the event that there's a FULL cop roster (It's happened a few times in the last 2 weeks) it would only take away half of the cop force. Of course, naturally, helpdesk issues will arise. "The cops had 13 people!" "The rebels had 15!"

Let's keep it going. @TrueBlue / @denis @TheMagician / @Porter @Lono3107 / @ALI @LickMyWhat?? @surey More Cops weigh in the better, I am looking to set a standard that is fair and usable for all parties. @vizzN @Sam I Am @sirgeneralj

Dead straight line in the sand. The second either the door is busted or the teller is hit the numbers are locked in. Saying this, if cops need reinforcements they have to hold the rebels off the teller. Like wise for rebels, if you need reinforcements don't hit the teller. In the case of fed I believe cops should be able to log on at any stage of the fed and assist as long as one cop is still alive to call them in. Rebels, rebels can not join in at all after the door is hit. If rebels aren't confident they have enough numbers why are they doing fed? Note: A cop can not log off to free a slot for a cop that hasn't responded yet. Another rule I feel needs addressing is people getting declared on declaring on doing bank or fed so they can shoot the robbers but avoid the 3rd party rule. I will post my opinion on that when I get time later on today.
