I think its time we remove nametags for civs and cops. Leave them for cops to EMS or EMS to cops and civs. Ive had a couple instances of people metagaming to get peoples names. Civ to Civ. Not using any roleplay reason to get a name and just looking at the top of the persons head or side chat. E.g An anonymous tip was made to Police about a guy selling drugs/guns somewhere. The message said 'Guy by the name of Fiddy cent selling drugs/guns at this location' How can the person sending the anonymous message just say the name instantly? No messages were previously sent through from the dealer except through side chat... Should this be allowed? Or should they state the reason for how the civ got the dealers name? like e.g 'The dealer had sent previous messages from a code name which i had tracked using my hacking system to find out his name' To me this is metagaming. Its getting peoples names off of sidechat or the top of their head which is an ingame mechanic. There is no reason to be throwing out names instantly especially when the dealer is trying to roleplay and what not in the first place. Should players be allowed to report things or use names that they see on side chat to roleplay? Should we get rid of nametags completely? I hope this made sense...It was a semi issue someone made a report about and ive tried to interpret it as best i could. @martin @Leopard @Snowwiiee @Lono3107 @Saundo @DKDrift Opinions from mods/admins/rebels/cops/EMS greatly appreciated.

As it currently stands in the new build, Civ's only have names when you are really close, and I mean, 1m in front of them and when you ~ (tilde) key on them nothing pops up either. Cops do not have names either, nor do EMS. The only way cops will be able to distinguish other cops is their named BLUFOR dots on the map and when they are really close and tilde on them, safe to say 90% of shitty declarations and meta gaming will be abolished.

yeah that works too. i see in whitelisted servers from streamers, they just have the player ID above their name or numbers. They still go check for ID etc. @S.Sanders can you explain this a bit more?

Having something like their slot ID would be a bit easier to remember - but then again the same thing happens. They will just say: Oh, Civ 23 or 1093292393 was selling drugs, go get him. It may need to become a police procedure to not act on 'illegal' evidence i.e. search on the info of their name, rather than their clothing/looks. While this fixes some of it, it certainly doesn't fix the civ on civ issues. From a medic perspective, we could do without names above their head, but direct text chat should still show their names and any dead people would also need a name so we can make sure which faction they belong to if the clothing is not showing, and if someone tells us not to revive person X, we should know who he is rather than jumping through 5 dead bodies asking if its this one... However, a medics name should be visible to all as to not confuse anyone. It really just comes down to pros and cons. Is it more beneficial to have the names so that they can be reported easier, or is RP more important?

ikr, its like the first thing they see. maybe its a habit of 'agreeing without reading the TnC's' alot of ppl have that manifests somehow into ignoring welcome screens, im no Freud. THough it seems a couple ask almost everynight,im not sure if there is a way to refer back to welcome screen ingame but that'd be useful for them. Alternatively the maps FAQ tab cud rehash on some points and be added to. They cud also cite rules when needed encouraging ppl to open further tabs.

for the two times this has happened it has been discussed by the active admins who were on at the time. For what happened today at 13:00 i have talked to Moderator who was on at the time and they have explained this was done because there was THREE to kill for the whole opfor team to kill. People complaining how there's no enemies, we unlock a squad to change team, and suddenly everyone is raging and the First time this happen as i explained to you in teamspeak after this happened all 5 opfor players who changed to blufor they were told not to shoot at the opfor players who were on the airfield until they had taken off in their jets flown around for a few mins, then they were clear to shoot, as for the one player who shot at you and two others while taking off shoot at you when he changed teams he came to me seconds after it happened and offered a comp far greater than you lost he was placed on our player watch list, the other two people were in a attack chopper which landed on spawn island with my permission since there was a outpost mission at the top of the map while they changed team and then told to fly north for 2 minutes until opfor players had moved around, you can not blame them for meta gaming since they did not attack targets on the airfield until you had gotten back to your bodys at the airfield and during that whole day you had been at the airfield in your base you had made. in my personal opinion for the teams being stacked alot of the time opfor is stacked by is divided between 3 groups, One group at Rogain, One group in the Airfield and the final group is a mix of lonewolf players who play on opfor. ofcourse blufor are going to have rage in global about team stacking but they should be raging at the people on their team who are useless to say the lest , this is Arma you work as a team you will win, as for wasteland on Stratis it is simple if you control the airfield you control the map rogain or south gunstore where you find people "Camping" holds no value all you are going at South or Rogain is killing fresh spawns over and over or the few people who have some gear. on a final note we are currently in the final stages of upgrading to a detty server for wasteland then a team balancing script is FIRST on the list.
