Considering SRT was called as soon as we declared the civilian protest on Channel 7, you expect us just to abandon it because cops press their frag button? That goes against what the whole protest was about.

On going issue milk that will never get resolved, either side will always say its unfair. Its hard to control with all the trolls in sydney and people that come to sydney for frags, Like i suggested, there is no assigned destination for organised combat so if players feel like pvp they can go, hence people come into the most populated areas to kill. Im heavily decreasing my playing time on altis life as of today due to the lack of effort and the way certain players are treated in the community, its toxic and its something I dont want to be apart of, If your a rebel your seen as a rulebreaker and from what I've seen over the past few weeks its more cop RDM's then anything. Goodluck.

Some things that could help facilitate these changes - a shift away from sydney - more reb on reb combat - more things for cops to do independently. I agree the meta needs to change

I dont want to comment much on it, but... Ok "This is what we were dealing with in most cases today." I wouldnt put such a generalisation to it, it just taints the discussion even more but, ok... 0:00 - someone IN RESTRAINTS omg, isnt that what we want?... (who is also let go later and given a SIMPLE instruction to 'go down that ladder' which he didnt for some reason...) 0:03 - warning shot because civs keep going up the ladder (He is also masked...) 0:42 - someone heard saying 'Mow down the ladder now' ... ? and a flashbang - A non lethal 0:46 - 'oi get your guns out, when they come down' (probably outside of the game, bust shows clear intentions and attitude...) 0:54 - i dont know what happened here, but unless he was deccing through voice, i dont see any other reason to use a lethal pistol, although that is streching it Also, I dont know what the camera man was saying, but I doubt it was a conversation about how they will grab a coffee after it was over... Also, if your going to add those brackets, you might as well finish off the sentence... here: "Note rhys didnt have a firearm at all, however the civs either side pulled weapons and one even injured another civilian" Thats a whole different story. Although it doesnt quite justify what happend. And since no other shots were fired in that clip even though the two agitants were still up, I would believe that officers came to their senses and saw that innocents were being hit.

Those civs were not executed. Every video has more than one side to it. We had officers on the roof who were being shot at from all sides due to SRT but in particular from the bottom of the ladder and a few officers had already been killed. I had no intention of "executing" those civs. You want to talk about executing? How about the cop who went down the ladder to restrain someone we TASED who gets restrained and shot in the back of the head. When the 2 civs were killed from my perspective there was tear gas fogging the ladder and when I began to take fire I simply returned fire. The civs who died were simply killed in crossfire. Again. I had no intention to kill those civs.

I would call what happened on that road as pretty aggressive... Was regarding when the left towards the building to air garage they did not go to the road after no aggression was shown when they were leaving,

I dont want to be on any side, but in my time jumping on civ walking about by myself finding RDMs and other rulebreakers in sydney, I have myself also gathered some experience. Plus from plenty of forum topics complaining about everything... Firstly, I want to say that Officers are the reactive force (Its not a 1v1, but a gorilla warfare, which works completely different). As such, the discussion that the civs have 'just a 9mm' and the cops have these bad ass massive guns is quite counter productive. Not to say that I see the point of 100 round mags on patrol, but thats not my point. An officer does not see a pistol if its holstered, and should not point his weapon at an unarmed civ. However, an unarmed civ can choose to unholster his pistol and shoot whenever and wherever he wants. Not only that, but in places where action happens, you better bet your life that every civ that finds a gun is going to want to use it against cops. I mean, even in the videos showed, not only was there talks of shooting people, and ambushing people (where hidden pistols would win over large 100 round mags), but there was also civs shooting in the crowd and pulling out weapons. I dont know how out of hand it became, but the last time I saw such a group, officers lost sydney because 30-40 civs started picking up the guns and shooting the cops... So an idea could be to require officers to use tazers, and as a last option knockdowns within city limits, except if there is rebel activity - e.g. a bank robbery or uprising etc. There should also be a better reason for civs to disperse as a result of crowd dispersing agents. Its a two-sided debate. To say 'oh look at us poor civilians we are just curios and wouldnt hurt a fly' and then say well you cops dont have the right attitude is really not solving the problem imo. Also not to say that officers dont need to change their ways. I also dont want this to become an argument over things that arent true. E.g: In the office building, they DID deploy tasers, as well as tear gas, and warned the crowd by shouting "Do not come up or I will taze you" as seen in this video (it however did unfortunately end in casualties): It isnt always that easy. Let me give you an example of a previous riot where this did not exactly work out this way - mind you this was at a safezone, so officers did not have to worry too much about RDM and declarations, although they did happen... I would call what happened on that road as pretty aggressive... And one thing that way be an idea for cops to take away: do it like real riot police - have one officer (such as polair) dedicated to filming the entire situation, so that things can be learnt from these protests, rather than responding to every protest from scratch. Also, I dont see 'forming a riot line' a good idea outside of a safezone, because 9/10 times, it would end in officers being mowed down either with guns, cars or both... Sad but true :(

First of all that whole 30 minutes of SRT being called was cops on civ trolling other cops and you know it. Secondly there is always two sides to every story. @Milkdud

I have also been playing civilian the last few days and have an opinion on the situation. (Please note I primarily play cop and will try be as non-bias as possible) Unfortunately cops think they're above the law, they can commit a crime as a cop and there is no one to charge them as they're the "government" and or "justice system" on Altis. They have no reason to think "if I do this I will get charged/arrested/sent to jail." as there pretty much isn't one. This allows cops to have a poor mentality when it comes to playing the game in general. A good example of this is running people over, earlier today the civilians were protesting outside of PD and positioning their selves at the exit gate to PD. Cops automatically have the mindset that these people are trolling, but in this case they were doing the complete opposite they were doing a non-violent protest against the fact that cops were unlawfully discharging their firearms into crowds and killing unarmed civilians. The civilians were sitting in front of the gate and a cabinet member gave permission to all their police officers to "run straight through them", this is silly in my opinion as all cops needed to do was roleplay and remove them from that area of the police station or even put some barriers up to force them not to be in that area.. Instead they barge through like a bunch of muppets, throwing civs into the water causing them to drown and bonnet slamming their skulls the ground. In real life you would go to jail for that, on this game you can't send a cop to jail so it doesn't make sense. Another example is a role play situation that I had where I was driving on the correct side of the road going the speed limit and a police officer comes racing around the corner on the wrong side of the road, I then swerve to avoid them and they also swerve to correct their mistake and we have a head on collision. I get out of the car and apologies and am immediately put under arrest and being told that I am being charged with vehicle manslaughter as the prisoner in the vehicle of the cop died. This is where I had to unfortunately get help desk involved because every cop online refused to acknowledge the fact that the cops were in the wrong for once. Help desk reviewed the incident and immediately said that it was ridiculous to arrest someone for that so the cops let me go. In real life their would of been an actual investigation and the cops would of been found guilty of reckless driving. Now the incident today... The genocide that happened in the ladder room of office, if that video was not involving members of cabinet/command/high ranking cops and was a bunch of lower ranking officers.. blacklist/bans and head bashing would of ensued on the lower ranks. Although I don't want the people in the video to hate me for saying this I think it needs to be said. The cops excuse was along the lines of "someone shot at us from down there" but you were all in a position where you could of hidden and waited for people to climb the ladder then taze/kill them depending on the situation. Although I may have a different perspective if I was the cop involved this is my perception as a civilian. The main road march with flash bangs being biffed at the crowd was stupid, it ruined all the role play aspects possible and was the worst tactical option cops could of used. When using force you have to think to yourself "What will the outcome be if I do this?"" Throwing flash bangs into an angry crowd will just make them angrier and will not change the situation at all. Roadblocks, Riot squad lines and Teargas were much better options. No trial? There were 20+ civilians asking for a trial against the police officers involved in the incidents today and instead of role playing a trial which would of been VERY simple/Great roleplay and easy, the cops decided to fight back with a poorly organised riot squad. The civilians only left when the cops left to go to a bank and if that didn't happen we probably would still be there. Please note, I am not anti-cop or anti-civ at all I love playing both but I do completely agree there needs to be some big changes.

Update So I have just got home from a 1hr doctors appointment and what I would like to think is good news is that my doctor is pushing for me to have surgery on my leg its a step in the right direction and if all goes well will be one less thing to worry about, just to fill you in on my leg because of the condition I have I have a wound a little bit bigger then a 50 cent piece on my shine and it has never healed . Hopefully, this surgery will fix this once and for all, I don't know when it's going to happen I just know he is ringing the hospital now to put the hard word on them. Thank you to all for your kind words and yes we are all family, you are all like brothers to me.

As many of you guys know I am A deputy commissioner in the APD and in the past couple days i have been playing on civ to gain a different perspective on the server, During my time playing i happened to notice a whole lot of complaining about civs getting killed by cops. After further investigation I realized that the complaints are valid and the police officers were indeed gunning down civilians. They will have their defense that the civs are getting killed in the crossfire but when you are opening up on an open area full of civs with lethals of course you will kill people in the crossfire, bare in mind all these civs have are 9mm pistols and the cops are using mx sw 100 round mags. i dont think it is very fair that we have cops sitting up on an office building with 100 round mags spraying at big groups of civs in hope that they take down the one person they were aiming for. And the approach the police made has made me very dissapointed. Instead of me just going up into the channel and ripping into all the police officers for moving down civs i choose to keep it in role play and offered the police department a choice. Go on trial and acknowledge the wrongs they have done and make change, or A civilian takeover. During our march to protest the way the police have been acting SRT got called and our group got flooded with flash bangs followed by executions of unarmed civs. I am putting this discussion in for people to voice their experiences that they have had so myself, @Mitch and the rest of the cabinet and command team can help make people enjoy playing on the server.I encourage people envolved with this protest to post their videos and for everyone to voice their opinion. If the civilian people don't get a trial where the APD own up to their mistakes I will continue to rally the entire civilian population and do a revolution where we will take over sydney and force the police to go gun down civilians somewhere else.

Considering it tells you to stay in doors yes. If the protest was a little after SRT got called so the cops could get re geared and partnered then you wouldnt of got shot for "no reason" and this topic wouldnt be a thing.

I agree with you that civilians should be inside during SRT/away from the chaos, but whoever shot Rhys should never of taken that shot, he should of been 100% sure it was going to hit the target.
  23. 0 points
Well I can't shed any light on the Ray incidents if there were any as I was not on. However the Rhys incident was CLEARLY an accident and was crossfire. The civ behind him was shooting at office and he got lucky to survive whilst rhys got unlucky. If anything this proves how dangerous civs are during SRT. They walk right next to you, pull a pistol, headshot you and then 2 seconds later the gun is hidden and if no cop witnessed it there is no chance of catching the shooter.

Was it really MOST cases though? This is a very extreme example and should not be used to generalise the events that occurred.

SRT was called, they were warned, I was being shot at so I went to protect myself.
