Let's talk about Altis Life. So as we all know, the Altis Life server isn't experiencing the best turnout as of recently. That said, anyone can pull suggestions out of their ass and say "This will make the server great again!" but it's not all that. Yeah, it's all well and good to present those ideas but it is also a good idea to explain why and it is also good idea to identify any issues that these suggestions may be a possible solution to. The hope is to use this thread as a place for those suggestions to be collated with accompanying reasoning factors and possible issues. An example being 'I'm losing interest because the only thing good for money is drug runs and I don't want to drive 40km in a HEMTT Box with a top speed of 50km/h. There should be a drug created worth slightly less but within a reasonable distance for driving that isn't so long that all you are doing is driving and losing further interest.' The above indicates the issue that players are losing interest because they are getting bored with the distance that they have to trek to make a profitable run. It also provides a suggestion to create a new drug field and form of run. This suggestion also acts as a solution to one problem. Now I know that not everyone's wishes can be achieved and some suggestions require time and effort in order to achieve them thus potentially making them nonviable but I'm sure a reason why it's not viable would also be appreciated by the community. I guess I'll get the ball rolling. 1. Lack of communication. Many posts that I have seen are suggestions from the community. They are coming from the ones that want to contribute in any way they can and the ones that want to have some fun. They are constantly asking for new material and frequently asking when updates are coming and what they will entail. We don't often see a satisfying response. The solution to this is to have a clear line of communication across the board from the server manager, through the server staff and right down to the players. The way I look at it, metaphorically, this is a chain that is holding a load (the server) and if the chain is broken, the load will fall. But respond to the players when they ask for an update. No one cares if an update isn't coming this month but at least make an effort to let them know not to expect one this month. 2. Lack of players (Duh). Since the release of Arma 3, it seems that a lot of its younger player base is starting to phase out of the game and I believe we can see that in the server stats. The server is reaching higher numbers after 4PM on weekdays than it does at any time during the weekend. This is consistent with the behaviour of growing up. Talking from personal experience, we knock off work on Friday afternoon and decide to spend our weekend with friends and family. After a work day, we want to chill out so we play some games. Another thing to attribute to this is a lack of updating. There's nothing new. As we grow older, we get sick of repetition. The solution? Focus on bringing things that will engage the older audience. No one wants to be on Arma 3 playing a game of cops and robbers that comes to an end by crashing into a bush now, do they? Personally, I'd go to GTA V for that. They're just examples. I see a lot more but I have only recently got back into SG AL after a while away so I'd rather leave that to those who have been playing since the server started up or most thereof. Obviously, they don't need to be in depth, just a simple issue, solution and why. I'd like to think that by providing a reason for a suggestion, it is more likely to be taken into consideration because it has weight. It's not just a willy nilly suggestion such as "ALLOW GUNS IN THE CITY!" or "HALF THE PRICE OF HELICOPTERS!!!!!" If you don't think this will work, speak out. Why won't it work? What is the way to go around it? We can't just complain about it and not do our part to fix it.

I hate typing up these essays but here I go anyway Communication is a big one. For a long time now, staff have left the community in the dark. I'm not sure how things are on other servers like wasteland/I&A/and the other games like SE and rust which straya run. But with Alits Life, its as if staff just don't want to communicate. But, I have seen a slight improvement on this in the past few days. Myself and a few other guys have been using community lounge lately, and often some AL staff would come down and chat, and they gave us info on things regarding the update, which was good. I personally would like to see more of that. But if I were to do it, instead of only coming on TS for it, I would prefer if staff did forum posts. A forum post that says around when to expect an update, for example - In May expect an update. And also hyping the community up about it. Maybe start doing more update videos like they did with one of the update last year, that was good. I understand sometimes its hard to give a time on an update, because staff cant focus on things like that 24/7, because of IRL things, and that's understandable. But I don't think it would hurt if a staff member just made a quick forum post which would say "yeah were working on an update, were currently looking into adding this content". I don't expect staff to give an exact date on an update, but just knowing that something is being worked on, is nice to know. But yeah more communication would be good, and keeping it consistent as well. Lack of players. Yeah this has been an issue for quite some time now. Unfortunately a very large chunk of the community have left over the past few months. The community right now basically consists of 2 small syd gangs, and 4 - 6 cops. With these numbers, all that's been happening is a quick and boring game of cops vs robbers in Sydney. Now I believe there's many different issues for the lack of players. No enjoyable content for civs/rebels, lack of updates/communication, no end goal for rebels, some cases where people get banned for the smallest rule breaks, people breaking rules and getting themselves banned, people going up to HD every second to get people banned, no enjoyable combat/rp for rebels/civs. And I'm sure there's heaps more, because if you've played this server long enough, you'll know its had and still has lots of issues. If I were to suggest anything to fix it, I would say start with releasing this new update ASAP, and then staff need to establish certain routines. Start with a post that asks for suggestions from the community. Then gather a list of a few of those suggestions, and make a poll for it. See what the community wants. Polls have been done before and they worked quite well. Letting the community as a whole decide what to put in, is good. Yes there will be some suggestions not everyone will agree on. But from the way I see it, as long as your giving content to all factions, then it should work. Give rebels their content for combat, and give civs their content for their rp, same with cops and medics. There's so much that can be added, and people can come up with some great ideas, so actively listening to the community's requests and suggestions is a really good start. Those polls should be done at least 2-3 times each month. Doesn't have to be an update every 2-3 weeks, but having regular polls is good, so staff can get a good idea of what everyone wants. I understand sometimes updates cant be done in certain time periods cause of certain reasons staff may have, and that's understandable, but It doesn't take long to read some suggestions, and make a poll for. Its a nice quick way of getting suggestions for a future update. These sorts of posts come up every year. There's always a stage where the player base goes down. But this round has been one of the worst from what I know. Unfortunately most people have given up on the server, which I can understand, I've been tempted to do the same. But I don't want the server to shut down, because it used to be a great server, and I would like to continue playing on it when I do have some spare time. But there needs to be some serious changes, if the server is going to survive. So I hope staff take these suggestions into consideration, and make use of it.

update the server for the following: (note: all 3 points are together and not separate) 1. - medics can revive you even if you dont request for medic. 2. - medics revive respawns you with your gear your wearing (minus what you dropped) back to the nearest hospital. This removes the issue of combat reviving where most you dumb ****s just rejoin a dec after you have died. Leaves your gun and inventory items on the ground like normal but your body and everythign you are wearing is saved. 3.- if the medic is in an ambulance van, you respawn to the van rather than the hospital. This removes you from the dec, keeps most of your gear and or if the ambulance van (or maybe the medic mohawk heli as well?) you respawn by the vehicle. the only reason the medic wont revive you near gunshots is because in the past to many people would whinge and moan that medics were combat reviving. rebels would go to HD and cops would just arrest the medics. so yea makes sense they arent gonna risk themselves on you..
