This still needs addressing. Even though I know there are no benifit to picking one side (besides power in numbers) and it would almost be impossible to implement. I'm having a hella hard time doing anything on BLUFOR.

Vote 1 for /tts BLUFOR presidency

It's sad some things never change.

Wasteland population has declined significantly especially since recent incidents and terrible performance due to numerous map additions. At this point it seems unlikely to regain its former popularity unless major changes were to take place. Would it be possible if WL sees no improvement, to be replaced with a Takistan life server?

Thanks vic but no ?. It's all codeing heroics and unnessisary

..as I've said before drop the rubbish keep the server somewhat stock.

    Middleton,

The core foundation of this community was built on a fair go. We (5 Founders) built this place as we were sick of the servers we played using their powers to have an massive advantage. To often we were teleported to and shot on site or blown up just because. When we brought this to light the admins denied everything and would ban us just to get us out of the channel or game. With those core values we built this place.

I wouldn't say Ya Mum is a bad dude... I have spent many of hours with Ya Mum and he isn't a guy that would try to **** us over. He is upfront which i like most. There has been many more worse staff from Altis Life then Wasteland with abusing their powers and players and in which has been dealt with.

I am grateful for the time Ya mum has put into this community and i hope he sticks around. But with so many complaints by non staff into use of kits we opt to remove them (they have been removed). Now these complaints don't go to a set someone, all managers get to see them.

There has been pressure into why Wasteland isn't as popular now. It can be based on a few things. New Games / Age of Arma 3 / Server performance / Staff / Mission Age / Lacking Features. These are all the things that come into play. We can do something that can improve WL that just requires some team work. About 2 Months ago we had a meeting about this. Things that could improve the place by reviewing the issues or what the players say. A common issue is FPS(my computer runs fine) some issues were the players having the view distance to high. FIX: make a quick guide to change the setting to improve your FPS. on this meetings it was said to not use their powers into just to play it to get a better idea. But the kits use grew.

After been here for 4 years I understand people get shitty with each other. But keep in mind that what is said about people in some of our chats are often taken out of context. Its easy to blame a circle jerking group or "the higher ups" but when presented with options to how to handle these issues we try to make the right choices.

I'll leave it at this Quote by you: an arbitrary at best function given to admins was the reason they were somehow abusing the playerbase is absolutely pathetic
We don't tend to say publicly what happens behind the doors. I believe what was said in the post was put nicely. It could have every screenshot of every issue. In which would truly drag someones name through the mud.

    That is not needed here.

    Hey,

Team-balance on Wasteland has always been a  controversial topic, until about 6months ago there was no team-balance script whatsoever and there was no end to the debate on the subject. In fact i remember a time when 50+% of the server would be on opfor sitting in an area and the rest being on indi or blufor, which gave rise to the "stackfor" meme.

If we're gonna have a mature discussion about this topic i guess i'd better lay out how our current team-balance method works and the order of priorities i had when making it. Firstly in its current form the script stops differences of +-4 occurring (from memory) between the two primary teams. This was because it was viewed at the time that it was  a small enough difference that it would keep balance in check whilst not unduly obstructing people who want to play together (friends coming on as 2/3 at once) from playing on the same team. The second consideration was our team-lock system. The team-balance script was coded in such a way that it did not obstruct our team locking system, namely that if someone is locked to a team they should always be able to join back to that team to avoid the scenario where they cannot join any team.

This design does leave a flaw, namely that if people who have been locked to a team leave for a while more people can join/get locked to that team. And in the situation where the people who were previously locked come back it can push the team number well over the normal balance threshold. This isnt a bug, it's just a logical consequence of how the system was designed to work. The real question then is would changing the threshold to 1 make a difference, to my mind the answer is not really because the only real flaw would still exist out of necessity but we would end up annoying more people because they cannot play with their friends. The only way to hard enforce the threshold would also deter players as it would possible force them off a team they had played on for hours if they had to relog, or lock them out of any team, both of which are likely to frustrate more people than they please.

There is another option of course,  more incentive to play undermanned teams, which i may consider if anyone has any suggestions, but i wont promise anything. Ideas i've been tossing up including dmg reduction to the undermanned team to make them more survivable each and incentivize peeople to join (with there being no advantage when numbers are +- 2 of each other for example). This has obvious downsides such as frustrating people/feeling like they lost to worse players. The other idea could be economic, ie cheaper gear or better territory capture rewards for the team with less players to make people want to join the weaker team more.

I'm happy to hear any suggestions or feedback on any of these ideas or concept.

and yes, coordination and teamwork that long time players can bring to bear is often better than any numbers advantage, so any creative feedback on that or other concerns about WL gameplay are cool too

    Tossa..?

Im not trying to sound like a dick, but as soon as links (good admin but power got to his head), Mozkleby ( Great leader/Manager but couldnt handle the mess which was happening at the time) and myself retired, the whole server population started to decrease.

Dont get me wrong, it didnt just go from like nearly maxed to 40 straight away. It just slowly dropped down.

Im not saying unit stuffed it up. He has done a great job taking over moz but it leads to more of towards the other staff and also lack of interest of playing wasteland.

I aint pointing any fingers at anyone.... just putting my 2 cents in.

I would love to come back but we would have to see ?

True that....but WOW we have called this shit for while..sorry I just logged in?
