I’m guessing you mean civ slots, not civs in striders

Military (I&A) deployed to eradicate extremist rebels/cartels from all territories, restoring Government and Police control so civilians can live & work in peace.

I didn't see officer Quinlet discharge his weapon in the video, only restrain people that were boxing him in so he could escape. Later in the video his shown down, others running away or hanging around his body with weapons drawn.
  4. WestOz

Voice audio replaced by music doesn't really help, however, imo it appears officer Quinlet was being harassed, others pushing boxing him in, getting up in his face etc, perhaps singled out, for some reason no other officer/partner backing him up? Perhaps Rule 2.7.1 "baiting Police". Considering the vision, compared to the alternatives other officers might take, I thought he handled the situation well. What happened later isn't really shown, but I suspect most of the group continued to harass him, chased him down like a pack of dogs when he tried to retreat.

Enjoyed watching those guys work well together, milsim

Plenty of good stuff on there from various channels (if you can find them), but for anyone who doesn't know FRANKIEonPC's work. He hasn't released anything for 10mths (no one knows why), doesn't even have playlists organised, yet he retains "3.5M" sub$. Goes (went) on some awesome servers (OS) with great RP and items available. Couple of Favorites; PRISON BREAK! REBEL ARMY!

Not sure why it would turn into one, I wasn't having a crack @Jewbacca just agreeing with him and further adding my opinion from a marketing view. Sure, if someone knows their previous work, like it, go back for more, but for others who've never seen their work, like most things in life with so many options available, a good quality intro can help sell/draw/entice viewers in further, or they simply skip to the next vid (no like, sub, potential revenue), all relevant to marketing, like tv commercials or the picture used on a non-theater released movie cover.
  8. WestOz

I agree, watched 1000's over the years since tube started, unfortunately a lot of crap to filter through these days, very messy. Depending on requirement/subject matter; No intro usually = poor content, hold, likes/subs. 15+ sec intro, some ~1min (skip) with poor res/editing and track, some that near blows your eardrums, but then can't hear content, usually = poor content, min likes/subs. A Quick 5-10sec max where its obvious they've spent a lot of thought/time on it, not rushed, creative/different/entertaining, catchy track selection most important, used consistently for a year or more (like the tubers who get Huge sub$) seems to be the sweet spot. I was impressed with your knowledge/selection of track grabs relevant to scene, very important for hold. Depending what area of the industry your working in, your employer/s would be crazy if their not taking advantage of it, perhaps they are.

LMFAO! made tears come outta my eyes, loved the copshop bit "I'm not running mate, I'm just (something)" Then you had to do your own rights, lol, typical young bloke who's left one hasn't dropped yet had no fkn idea "I'll let you off with a warning" Thanks man, made my day!

Kinda ~ yes the programing allows the mission to be won with a small group, but unlike Altis, is it really a victory when only 1/3 of the main objectives (Alfa, Bravo, Charlie) have been secured, then everyone simply camping there defending it from a few enemy until the magical time runs out, no attempt to secure the other two objectives, part of the mission. For me, it was fun the first few times, but until all objectives have been secured, its not really a satisfactory win. If it were a little more realistic, and the enemy holding the other 2 objectives were ordered to push in on us at the same time, like we'd do if holding 2/3, we'd likely be Fkd. Don't get me wrong, I love Tanoa and the new missions, makes a very nice change, got bored with Altis, I thank the guys for making it available, but it needs more players, and while ever Altis is still up and running, which I can't see changing anytime soon, I suspect the player numbers will remain low, unfortunately Fitz and the boys may soon (if not already) ponder if its worth maintaining both servers when one isn't really getting the numbers to perhaps justify its requirements.

Being WST (3hrs behind atm), during the week it can be quite. IMO 15 is good fun for the side missions, but not so much taking on the AO, unless I can use AI, which can help if in Marshals, on the guns in a ghost, or attracting bullets on the ground, but not everyone likes them being involved, why I mostly use them on my own for sides.
  12. WestOz

I'm with you, bored with Altis, love Tanoa, but like others said many can't or wont coin up for it. The I&A Tanoa server pulls a few now & then, but most of the time its empty, those that prefer/consider joining it are prob going to Altis because it has lots of players, so I've finally learnt how to control AI, sorta, stupid Fkrs. But it gets boring on your own in there after awhile, I'm over Altis I&A, so having a break and trying to relive the old civ life on AL (trying). But, most know that Straya servers are the most popular and well managed/scripted compared to others, if you went Tanoa and they didn't have it, I'm sure they'd prob work out away to get it quick, otherwise they'd be on lesser quality servers, missing out.

Hi Karen, Well, after a couple of years away on active duty (I&A) I've found myself a bit fatigued being around guns, explosions etc, many wounds, scars, lost a lot of friends, seen a lot of death (sorry to hear about your brother), diagnosed with depression etc. Thought I'd take some leave, go back home to a normal "LIFE" for awhile, do some fishing, diving, treasure hunting. Military pension doesn't go very far so maybe start a small business, work for myself rather than taking orders, as I've done for far too long. A farm would be nice, plants some crops, raise some sheep or cattle, but not a lot of options compared to illegal activities for good income. However, I arrive back home to find the place has gone to shit, someone else has moved into what was my house, the bank must have been robbed as my account is almost empty. The city is filled with unsavory characters, drug dealers, violence. The rural areas are filled with vigilantes taking advantage of innocent tourists passing through, many who will no-doubt leave the country never to return, or perhaps feel compelled to join in and do the same, perhaps for revenge, not good for tourism, or those who may have considered making it their home, start a business, make an honest living etc. The other day a friend, Jay, and myself went out and did some mining, I hadn't done it for years, thankfully Jay was there to retrain me, all my licenses had expired so it wasn't a cheap day. We then dropped into sell it to old Davo the remote buyer, we weren't there for 2 minutes when 4 guys rolled up in an armored vehicle fully armed with automatic weapons (wtf?), initially I thought they were armored couriers, there to pickup/drop-off money and items for Davo, but then started demanding Jay and I hand over our cash, off-course knowing me and with what I've just been through I laughed at them, stood my ground and told them to Fk off, which didn't end well, more scars, stole my car, later found out it was chopped. Whilst it was never perfect, it seems things have gotten out of control for the Police here, perhaps not enough of them, low moral, maybe lack of good leadership and Government support/funding, medical/health care is also lacking. Whatever it is, it seems the evil out ways the good, reminds me a lot of where I just came back from, civil war, which we are over there trying to control/stop, protect the innocent, yet while our armed forces are over there trying to protect their citizens, our citizens back here are experiencing similar, seems no longer a safe place to call home, but it is home, I grew up here, have to make the best of it. I remember seeing all this start to develop not long before I was deployed, contractors were employed to assist the Police get a handle on things, I gave them a hand now and then. I guess it didn't go well (more money in crime), but that's not something I'm mentally prepared to get back into at the moment, just want a quite recreational life for awhile, get my head straight for now, earn some money, buy a new house. Maybe, if all goes well I'll put some of my extensive training and experience back into good use, until then, perhaps best if you don't visit. Anyway, I trust this letter finds you well, love to you and your family, WestOz xo.

Hi, Having been absent from the life server for a few years (been playing I&A), forgetting how most of the "life" key functions work, seeing heaps of side chat Q's from new players (can send them here now), not being able to find anything in one place (other than this thread by Yuri from a couple of years back) I thought I might help out by putting most of the simple stuff to start out as a new player into one post/thread, rather than lots of Q&A's scattered all over the place. As said I’ve only just got on again, still picking things up, info may not be complete/correct, but hopefully others will post below with anything I’ve missed, got incorrect, which I’ll do my best (with time) to update this post. Firstly- If your totally new to Arma and skipped the Arma virtual tutorial (like many do) I suggest you go back and do it to learn the basic keyboard functions/controls, otherwise your going to be in for a world of pain/frustration, no idea what to do other than move around, likely asking stupid questions on side chat (frustrating others), if you can work out how to use that. Starting out Server Rules - Are here Team Speak Server Address (For Help Desk Support etc) - ts.straya.life If not by now aware, pretty much what the game is all about, is making Money and lots of it, on your own or via teamwork with others, via Role Play (RP), whether making it legally through different means, including wages, or as many prefer, illegally. You start out with some money in your bank account, plus get a regular auto (dole) payment, but it won’t go very far… So what are your easier choices to make $’s, while learning the basic key functions, so you can buy better stuff? OK, I've selected the server (hopefully without any mods) what's next? You'll see all these names on the right side of the screen, that’s everyone on the server atm, on the left side names taking up slots, (don't select one yet) and some vacant slots for selection. To the left of that you’ll see a blue box with “BLUFOR” (for Police/Cops to join the server), a green box with Independent (for Medics to join the server), and to make it easy lets call it a pink box for “Civilian” (General Players, like you for now, to join the server). For now click on the Pink “Civilian” box, find a vacant slot (not taken up by another name) mouse click on it, down the bottom right of screen click OK. The required sever file will now download onto your PC, after load-up you'll be presented with a console screen which has a selection of spawn locations, for now all you'll see is, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. But which one to choose? I guess being first on the list, like most you’d be tempted to simply select Sydney, However... Sydney - it’s 1st on the list so the most populated area on the map, with the largest safe zones (supposed to not get robbed/killed in one) however like any populated city you have lots of good and bad, but the bad usually makes it unbearable for most new players simply wanting to learn how the game works before getting into the fun stuff, hard if you keep getting harassed by dickheads. If your one, please stay there, have fun. If you select Sydney you’ll likely find yourself spawning into a building somewhere, can hear lots of gun fire, sirens, perhaps explosions, and possibly have no idea where you are, which way to go, what to do etc…. Melbourne - is where the more experienced players tend to spawn, trying to stay away from the newbies and dickheads (they eat them for breakfast, lunch, dinner & light snacks in-between), usually not interested in being a cop, likely more into illegal activities, rarely want anything to do with new/inexperienced players, unless they know them, a friend etc, if your not one, prob prepare to be robbed &/or killed, hard to comply with their demands if you don’t know what function key to press yet. Brisbane - most of the time, for now, tends to be the quietest less populated area, but you still need to be wary/cautious. From the above spawning options, if you simply want to log-in, learn the game basics before deciding what your next move will be, Brisbane would be my choice for now. OK? I’m in a building somewhere, now what do I do? For now, your pretty safe, standing there in your underwear (cute), you have nothing on you anyone wants (sorry), if you've actually spawned at Brisbane, your in a city with likely no one other than perhaps a few other newbies like yourself, perhaps the odd vehicle or chopper passing by. However there could also be a dickhead around, so for now move yourself to a spot not exposed to street view. At the bottom of the screen it shows how many civs, cops & medics are on the server, how much cash you have on you, how much is in your bank account, your heath, how full your stomach is with water and food etc. Press "M", this will open the Map, look around, lots to see and do, but what you choose to do can either be easy with low income, or very risky for high income. While here click on the writing to the top left, this will show you miscellaneous server control functions, plus the server rules which you should read if you want to be a good player, rather than a dickhead. However, many don’t read them until they get into trouble, or banned from the server, so I’ll continue… Press the "I" key (inventory), this shows part of what you have on you, at the moment its nothing. Press the "Y" key, this is also part of what you have on you, but also has many other functions, most you'll learn along the way, but for now click on "Market" This obviously shows the current market for items, have a browse, see what gets good & crap coin. Before moving on, Firstly, there’s one vital setting we’ll sort out that many have trouble with, the “Use” key function, which is supposed to work with the left Windows key, but doesn't for many, including myself. USE key Function Fix The Use key interacts with certain things on the server, picks fruit, uses a pick for mining, collects items you’ll come across, perhaps when nothing else works, try it. To make sure it works, press Esc, click on “Configure” click on “Controls” select “Custom Controls” from drop down list, click on “Use Action 1” press the ~ key (to the left of the 1 key on most keyboards) nothing else should be in this action selection, click OK, now do the same for “Use Action 10”. This should resolve any issues with the “Use” function key, which we’ll get into later. So back to, Where am I and What do I do? To get you used to the basic function controls, we'll start out with something easy first, won't make a huge amount, but wont cost you much to kit up either, if you stuff up and die, no big loss. Everything is close to where you are right now, the fruit fields and the place that buys it off you. All you need is some clothing (optional), a backpack, basic supplies, and assuming you don’t want to walk, a drivers license and cheap vehicle. Open the Map again, use your mouse to find your location on the map (says “YOU” with an arrow), use scroll to zoom in/out. Find the “Market” in the town your in, then locate the nearest ATM to it. Hold down the left Shift Key and with your left mouse button click on the ATM, this should place a small round black target, called a “way point”. Press M again (or Esc) to close the map, look around and you should see in white writing a dot with numbers showing the distance and direction to the way point. Go to the ATM, if you want to run hold down Shift+W, when you get there look at the ATM and press space, or mouse scroll. Type in the amount you want to Withdraw (it also allows Deposits, and transfers to other players), lets say 30k for now. Now go to the “Market”, you’ll find a room with signs, move ~1mtr from them and you’ll see what they offer, look at the clothing one until some further writing pops up (you may have to move around, some can be a bit buggy), select to open it by either pressing the space bar or scroll mouse. Select the outfit you want and a backpack, quality, style, size etc is not really an issue yet, so save your $’s, you maybe dead in 5min and will have to re-kit/spend again. The other signs offer food, water, utilities etc, as you play you’ll learn what you do & don’t need etc. For this we’ll start with the basics; 1 x water 1 x bacon 1 x GPS 1 x Night Vision Goggles (NV’s, you’ll need them if it gets dark) 1 x Drivers License 2 x Tool Kits and 2 x First Aids (in-case you have a crash or two, likely). If its dark, press “N” to turn on/off the NV’s. Now go to the vehicle garage, each vehicle has different storage capacity, price etc, for now just buy a Quad bike. Go outside and you should see it waiting for you. Important – after all your purchases you now prob still have cash on you, keep it and risk having it robbed from you, or go to ATM now and deposit it. Go up to Quad, press the “U” key to unlock it, also locks it. Press space or scroll to get on, if you find yourself on the rear seat, scroll and select drivers seat. Open map, mark a way point on fruit field you want to pick (apples or pears, which ones worth more on the market atm?), close map, press “W” to go forward etc, head to way point, Shift+W for turbo. Oh shit I crashed and I’m dead? If a medic is nearby atm request (prob none near Brisbane) or wait for re-spawn timer and start over. I’m still alive but the Quads damaged? Use a first aid kit on yourself, toolkit on the Quad (“~”) then when able (after fruit run) go to a hospital for 100% heal (scroll medkit on counter). I’ve got some guy/s chasing me telling me to pull over and get off the Quad? It’s Role Play (RP). Personal choice, try & out run them (they likely have guns tho), prob crash the quad and they get you anyway, or, do as instructed or likely die, lose ALL your stuff anyway, have to respawn, spend more $'s to kit up again.. In the end, right now, you have no value on you their interested in, however if their dickheads picking on newbies they could take your Quad to the chop shop (little value), leave you stranded without food & water etc, with which you may as well press Esc and re-spawn. You can report this to admin, via Team Speak, but the outcome is rarely worth the effort, and the dickheads know it. If you wish to comply; Do as instructed/demanded. Stop & get out of your vehicle = pretty simple. Drop your weapon (assuming you have one, it will be in your hand when you get out ("Shift+H" for holster), unless its in your backpack) = press "I" (Inventory) select gun with mouse, drag left to ground. Put your hands on your head = press "Tab" Lay down on the ground = press "Z" Anyway... you made it to the Fruit Field, go up to a fruit tree (you won’t see any hanging off it), kinda look at the ground, press the Use Key (~, which we setup earlier) keep doing it until you get a message (top right) that says you can’t carry anymore, go to the Quad, press “T” (for trunk), transfer fruit from yourself to the Quad trunk, go pick more fruit until both you and the Quad can’t carry anymore (why a big pack pack helps). Now look at the map, find buyer, add way point, head there and sell it. Now you have cash on you again…what to do? Head for the closest ATM maybe... Providing all's gone well, you've now completed your first legal income, whilst surprisingly also earning the dole (like Aus no wonder the countries finances are fk'd :P). You now have more money in the bank than you started with, if you like can store your Quad in the garage and buy a bigger vehicle, pick some more fruit, &/or do one of the following; Other “somewhat” simple legal options for income, with higher risk; Fishing Fish – requires a boat license from the market, purchase a boat at marina (un/lock like vehicle). Mark way point at fishing ground, head out, scroll for fishing net (boat must be stationary), sell at fish market. Turtles – Whilst classed "illegal fishing", and somewhat risky to kit up, it’s good income; As well as the boat (unless swimming offshore) you’ll also need a dive suit, respirator & goggles from the dive shop, and a gun (SDAR) which you can get from the contractors arsenal (can be risky to get in/out of there alive) which is near the main Airport/Melbourne, or perhaps find one on Gumtree (in the game), or via black the market. Dive in, spot a turtle, shoot it, go up to it, collect it, keep storing in boat, sell at fish market. Iron & Copper - requires a mining license from the market, and a processor license which you purchase from the processor, which means you have to risk carrying cash to it. Go to the Iron or Copper mine, press use key, load up, go to processor, buy license, process, take it to buyer, sell, head to ATM. Oil – purchase 1 x oil barrel from market, head out to Oil Platform in Boat, or Chopper, get up on platform, stand near yellow creates, look at concrete floor (it doesn't come out of pipes), use key like other mining/picking, load up, take it to Oil processor, buy license (need to take cash for it), process, take to Oil buyer, sell, head to ATM. There are other types of mining on the map, but there either shit income for effort (salt, concrete, timber etc) or it seems there not available/working, like Diamonds (unless I’m missing something?). Warning – Even with a weapon/s, working alone, or with one or two other newbies, leaves you vulnerable. Bandits can hang-out around the buyer locations, hidden, or see you on the way to an ATM, let you do all the work, move in and demand your cash earnings, and whatever else they desire, before you get a chance to bank it. Apart from that - there’s also the illegal activities like hold-ups, chop shop, drugs etc, etc, which you’ll get the hang of as you go along, difficult without a confident group to work with, with good leadership. In the end it all depends what your interests are, you may find you want to be a Cop or Medic, both pay wages, cheaper equipment costs (+ a few bonuses), lower outgoings, hang out with a group doing the same thing, but have to go through a training/supervision process. Anyhow.. trust that helps. Good Luck and Enjoy!

HaHa! Thant's a great analogy, I like it, it can be very similar to Max Max at times (movie & game). Not that imo it's a good thing for a life server, more for Wasteland maybe. A few years back the server was more about making money to upgrade to better equipment, buy houses to store it all in etc, not last ~10min before getting harassed, robbed, killed etc. Sure you'd meet other gangs along the way, sometimes hostile, have fun trying to take over each others base etc, but we were usually more interested in combining/recruiting to hit the Fed, not kill each other, once done we'd go our own way until the next organized Fed hit. Back then the Fed would get hit at-least once every 2 hours, was a lot of fun, cops vs robbers etc. From memory, if we got the gold we then had a time limit to sell it, the cops would be waiting at the buyer for us, have to fight them off again before the time ran out so we could sell it. I've only seen the Fed get hit once in the past 30 odd hours of play, that I've been on, which I don't think they were successful, something has changed, not sure if for the better, but maybe people get bored doing the same thing, perhaps they need new challenges, rather than harassing and getting pocket change from newbies and others just wanting to do legal stuff. Odd? to be honest I haven't tried it lately, and getting a SDAR back then was easier, it did work that way a few years ago, maybe they changed it or its buggy. I did read in another thread somewhere when searching for instructions on how everything works, that apparently the timber sales a Bunnings is glitched out or something, not working, perhaps it's the same with Turtles? What and how do you craft with it? That's what I'm finding most frustrating, finding out what and how all this stuff works, I don't mind learning the hard way, go and do it until I work it out etc, but when you can't get 1k out of town before being Fk'd over, especially when we need to carry cash for licenses etc, lose vehicle to chop shop, left stranded or dead, start over again without enough cash, repeat. I don't want to be the annoying guy who keeps asking Q's on side chat, going to TS help deck asking the guys instructions I should be able to simply read on the forum (oh no, its West again, make him wait), maybe why most players tend to get up to no good, causing trouble, pissing people off etc (incl cops & admin), doing things illegally, because its simple and easy to understand how to do it, no instructions required.

I thought about that half way through typing all that (questioned why I was bothering) remembering when I first got Arma, joined Life server in the very early days, I had no idea there was gaming forums. However I'm a lot older than most, hoping the younger ones who grew up with all this tech stuff from a very young age know more than I did. Be good if there was some way to direct (perhaps force) them to the forum to read the rules & stuff like this if they have nil hours played, but most likely wouldn't read it anyway. @pinejack & @Connor Thanks for that, I did wonder what rock was all about, I went there and mined it to see what the result was just in-case it gave Diamonds or similar, all I got was rock, thought maybe it and sand made cement, no idea cause there's no instructions anywhere that I can find (be good if there was), couldn't be bothered getting sand and whatever else for end result (assuming cement), doesn't pay enough, so dropped it and moved on. Now I know what you just explained I might give it another shot, but those license fees are huge hey. Anyway, at-least something good came from the thread, I learn't something. I'll add it to the OP when I get a chance, plus any other handy tips anyone cares to share re crafting etc.

I rolled as medic for quite a while a few years back, unlike some I wasn't interested in taking advantage of newbies, robbing/killing them on a life server for a few bucks, but happy to run around reviving/helping people. The negative was; I wasn't interested in being in-charge (in any form, Medic, Cop, Admin etc), I have enough politics in RL, however "Some" of the guys higher up acted like their shit didn't stink, spoke to myself and others like they had some almighty power, that I doubt they'd have the guts to in real life. Its a game, for fun downtime from real life, not to be unpleasant (one word for it). Most the pop & revs were in Altis (now Sydney) back then for newbies getting run over etc, in turn, even though I parked my car on the road to protect myself, with lights flashing, I'd usually get run over, on purpose, while trying to rev them. Because rev'n so many newbies, it became more a nursery (help desk), not that I minded helping them, I actually enjoyed it at the start, but many wern't interest in, or didn't like the answer, didn't have a mic, simply wanted to be a immature smart-ass, some would run straight back out and get run over again, just for attention, then complain to admin that I refused to rev them. In the end I got fed-up, moved to I&A as a medic, still not perfect, but far more mature.

Australia map would be VERY COOL for a "STRAYA" server. Rather than with current; Sydney being where Perth should be - Melbourne where Adelaide should be - Brisbane somehow South East of Melbourne ? Owning property and renting it out sounds great, might teach the young ones with shit role-model parents about property investing, getting their own rather than renting/paying off someone else's. Raise deposit, borrow rest from bank, let it increase in val while paying it down, use the equity to buy another to rent out to new players etc. But how would the rent be collected, chased up if not paid etc? Real estate agents/Property managers (also collecting bonds etc), lawyers (admin who can transfer it from/too etc if not paid). Plus tradies for maintenance on properties, including trashed rental ones. And what about furnishings, stereo, tv, security cameras, alarms, curtains, chairs we can sit on, beds to sleep in (maybe have to sit or sleep for 5min or so to build health back up). The tradies and craft guys could make it, get their supplies from Bunnings, they get theirs from various wholesale producers (different players can buy/sell operate different Bunnings outlets across the map, compete with their own wholesale/retail pricing against others (when their online, unless some way to have an AI run it, pay wages, could also pay taxes which go to admin for prizes, events or something). And all this stuff has to get about somehow, car & truck yards selling new & second hand vehicles, which need fuel, maintenance, road side service etc. Plus we all need to eat & drink, food vendors need supplies from rabbit, goat, fruit farmers etc, they can sell to distributors who then wholesale to retailers. All these business's can all be run by different players. Different business's all have different turnover/profit margins, one with low profit can be purchased for a low price by a new player, learn to compete for supplies/customers through price structure and marketing, learn how to make profits from wholesale to retail, make improvements like paint, signage, security cameras for proof to police of who robbed them etc, eventually save up for a better business with more profit margins, the more their on the server the quicker it happens. All this has been discussed on here many times years ago, nothing came of it, like Identity which is still.... in the making http://www.identityrpg.com/ Also, be good to see the financial value of things on the server be more comparable with real life, including the auto payment (dole).
  19. WestOz

From the deliberate Civ kills I witness, especially in the new George Town mish, I reckon not to many give a toss about points/awards etc, like on GTA they just go for it, kill anything, everything in site, if a civ gets in the way, oh well... Also been happening a lot with hostages lately. This ain't milsim, casual fun server etc, etc, but like RL be good if there was some form of penalty that hit them a bit harder than points they don't give a toss about. Is there some way to penalize offending players by throwing them in a Brig for 10 or so mins? have them complete some kind of chore/activity at base before unlocked to leave base again, restricting their arsenal to light arms for a time?
  20. WestOz

For now, and perhaps waste of an AI if someone else can get better use of it, I find if I leave an AI in the vehicle it stays put until I either get back to it, or re-spawns when I die/re-spawn
  21. WestOz

Ta, managed to sus it later with some other guys. Wasn't aware it jumped around on the map with standard writing/dot marking update location (must have missed pop-up), guess I'm used to updated tasks being displayed/highlighted differently. All good, had fun doing it, adds an excitting new challenge getting to the chopper under fire with the medkit weight factor (same when carrying dudes). Cool, never done much with AI, been having a bit of fun with them when on my own or low numbers in the server, watched a few youtubes but a lot of commands to get my old brain around. Their stupid Fkrs hey, oh I'll just run over here in the open and get shot etc. Be good if the AI medics could revive me the same as you can, rather than having to re-spawn, start again etc.. But it is what it is. Ohh so their crew as in can jump on a gun but not fly the choppers? Thought they may have worked like AI driving road vehicles, could help defend me when doing the fuel truck mission, pick me up with POW etc. Thanks for your reply ;-)

When trying to load AI (non-pilot) in a chopper, one always tries to jump in the pilot seat, gets auto kicked out, gets left behind. Is there anyway to code they all only get in the back? Also, I re-logged as a pilot so I could command an AI pilot to fly us out, he also got kicked out so not sure if a glitch or I'm doing something wrong?

I examined, got the clues for the IDAP medical supplies, task updated approx location on map which was next to a town, spend about an hour searching every single building etc, frustratingly no luck. Is there somewhere odd there hidden? are they in a create/box, med-kit sitting on a table etc???

I've actually been enjoying the change in "command surrender", like a lot of things in life its always nice to have a change from the same old it's been for years. However, perhaps due to coding possibilities etc, it's not & possibly never will be, perfect. Things I've noticed; "Command surrender pops-up through walls" - Naturally, viewing a building from a distance, through a window or open door (or their riffle & half their body somehow protruding through it) I can see dudes camping in there, Sure I can take them out with my riffle from distance, but how easy is that. For a challenge I'd rather move up and see if I can take them prisoner, with my pistol. I move up to the building, whilst moving along the wall towards the door, I can't see him but "command surrender" pops-up, ok to easy. However, if this same scenario in RL, being outside the door/building, I'd be able to give them an option & yell out, "Surrender or I'll blow your F'n head off". However he dosn't really have an option if "command surrender" has already popped up, so not sure what can be done there? Vs, moving through a town, along side a building wall for protection, all of a sudden "command surrender" pops-up, oh? there must be a dude in there, had no idea, that was easy... "Pop-up or scroll?" - Last night, Tanoa, "command surrender" (or collect ear, tooth) wasn't popping up on the screen (tap space bar) the new way it has been the last week or so, last night I had to mouse scroll? "Escort one or more at a time?" - The old way, we we're able to escort more than one prisoner at a time, seems it only allows one at a time now? SUGGESTION - Taking prisoners is fun, we all enjoy doing it, want the Gitmo credit, but it can be a PITA, restricts game play, so we usually end up shooting them. We all want the Gitmo credit, but that either means jumping on a chopper and personally returning to base with them, mid mission which obviously means leaving the rest of the squad a member down, myself perhaps the only medic, not always good, Or alternatively, throwing the prisoner on a chopper and letting someone else deposit to Gitmo, them getting the credit. Just an idea, if we can simply load the prisoner onto a chopper (or vehicle) alone (his restrained) and personally stay in the mission, the Pilot returns to base with prisoner, the Pilot (or other) successfully unloads/deposits the prisoner into Gitmo, both initial capture & depositor receives Gitmo credit? (this obviously also lets pilots achieve/build Gitmo score)
  25. Perhaps this is a common experience for some of you, it's a first for me, thought I'd give a cautious heads up in-case others experience similar. I was on last night for ~5 hours, powered off PC ~9pm. I wake up this morning to this email supposedly from Steam, sent @9:55pm. Perhaps something buggy at steam but ~ an hour after I log off, ~6 hours after initial login? Oddly the reported offenders IP address is actually MINE. I live alone so no one else uses my PC, no one I know is aware of my Steam login details, Router/WiFi has a VERY strong password. I don't type usernames or passwords in-case a keylogger somehow gets in, I use Lastpass. Only change I've made recently is switching to Firefox 64bit from Chrome. Any Ideas?
