Altis Life Rule Update - 14/7/18

    Hey all,

Effective as of the 3PM AEST restart on the 14/7/18 we will be making some changes to the AL rules.
The changes to the rules are as follows:

6.4 - The killing of an incapacitated person will be seen as RDM (Knocked out or restrained)

2.8 - Rebels may not enter city limits with Rebel gear or vehicles without a valid RP reason. This is inclusive of armoured apparel (IE vests and helmets), concealing clothing (Balaclavas) and weapons.

3.4 If you are revived by a medic, you may not rejoin in any combat that caused your death.
3.4.1 You cannot be engaged by the party that caused your death in the same combat situation after being revived

what is the reason for adding no balaclava to this rule

I can understand the cop side reason which is to keep the restrained and tazed people alive, but as for rebel side are you trying to say we cant get behind someone we are in dec with and knock him out and kill them, and if we have an uncompliant rebel ready to shoot we have to unrestrain him before shooting him

    so why

Won't this now open up a whole new issue of police bounty hunting any high value targets within city limits immediately upon seeing their name? It doesn't exactly fit within roleplay constraints that a wanted criminal would enter the city undisguised with such a high risk of encountering police.

What was the reason for adding this rule?

Well there is a ruleset against metagaming for that specific reason @Middleton

There may be the Metagaming rule set, but they are easily sidestepped. As soon as they've seen a high bounty name in the city they could just follow the person around for a few minutes and just find a reason to initiate roleplay, which would in all cases end in someone getting sent to prison or ticketed.

@Middleton brings up an excellent point. While there may be a rule against metagaming, it is barely enforced. Cops will metagame. End of story.

Does this rule change include Bandanas? @Lotza

If cops are using it to metagame/powergame people with bounties I'll personally ensure they are taken care of because that isn't acceptable.

As for reasons it is primarily due to how cancerous decc' s in Sydney are with swarms of civilians in Sydney. People covering their identities made declarations nearly impossible to enforce and lead to either innocents being shot in deccs they weren't a part of or cops having a complete inability to keep the peace due to  it being impossible to tell who half the people are. Outside of city limits it doesnt make such a big difference so they are allowed but inside city limits when you have 30-50 people swarming around in close proximity with varying degrees of armaments it was causing large numbers of issues for civs and cops alike and as such we have taken remedial action to see if it will improve gameplay quality in Sydney.

If you want a roleplay narrative to justify it the tyrannical government of altis ruled by Mr Blue, Mr Cinnamon donut and Mr Lesstza has rolled out spy cameras all through the city and to ensure they can monitor every citizen face coverings have been outlawed

I have found problems with robbers coming back a couple minutes after the player has been revived. This was before the rule was implanted.

    3.4.1 seems vague and would most likely be argued with moderators/ admins when its brought to helpdesk. How about a time limit of you can't rob the revived player 5 minutes. The rule could be changed to;

"3.4.1 You cannot be engaged by the party who caused your death for a minimum of 5 minutes, this includes any criminal action taken towards the player."

Thanks for adding the rule, definitely helps with medics driving down the road with the victim in the back only to have him robbed and killed 100metres from the previous location!

Kav does need fixing, but this ain't it, cops are going to abuse this. They already do it when they "check your vehicle registration", they just want your bounty
