Feedback regarding Gang Convoys

Over the last month, Senior Staff has received feedback from the community about recent black market convoy missions. This is but not limited to what they are, how they are run each time, how fair they are and how transparent the procedures for running them are. After each convoy mission has been run so far, we have performed a debrief each time with some variables being changed / tested each time. This in addition to observing the tactics used by each gang, police and civilians.

After much discussion, we have made some changes to the way Black Market Convoy Missions and corresponding Cash Convoy Missions will be run as part of the Registered Civilian Guidelines. These are as follows:

  • This announcement will contain a link to the registered civilian group guidelines. As part of long term observations and debriefs regarding Registered Groups, it was noted that many are not familiar with these guidelines as well as the benefits associated with being a registered group. As such, a link to these guidelines as well as any other server rules extension guidelines will also be added into the rules post once the update has gone live.

  • Black Market Convoy Missions and Cash Convoy Missions will be renamed to Black Market Delivery Missions and Cash Delivery Missions. This is to avoid confusion regarding server events as these are considered a server feature for registered gangs. In addition, feedback given to Staff has indicated some confusion when groups use stealthy tactics rather than aggressive tactics during the delivery missions to defend the truck with additional vehicles and weapons. It was also indicated that players / groups look for a large convoy or a truck being protected by armoured vehicles instead of potentially looking for a solo truck or trucks.

  • The main aim behind these missions is that they are extremely flexible and allow gangs and participating parties to come up with any tactic they can think of that complies with server rules, thus allowing for a vast range of possibilities and counter tactics. This means inevitably there may be some situations where a gang may complete a delivery mission outwitting any opposing parties and likewise, a competing party may track down and eliminate opposition easily. We believe that over time and with experience, new tactics will be thought up by parties on both sides creating new and exciting game play appealing to all parts of the community.

  • To focus on ensuring each delivery mission is run to the same standard and is fair, we have included the announcement templates in the registered civilian group guidelines. As part of these changes, a rough location (for example South East of Altis) will be announced once the convoy starts. This will allow any interested party with a slightly narrower search field to start with which was a common complaint as well as eliminate false encounters and potential deaths of unrelated parties.

Maybe a rough location of where it might finish as it’s hard to guess if it’s a 7 KM drive for an 18 KM drive. So maybe trial this method u have now, but if it still doesn’t work, maybe a rough location where it might finished to help give all parties an idea.

Also add a KOS zone or rule to it, the amount of times I’m attempting to dec and being shot at is stupid, it is ridiculous how it’s not a rule / circumstance for this event.

For the Black Market Delivery give a rough location of where it started 3 km range & tell us what type of truck is being driven eg (box truck, fuel truck, etc)

Because when we search for the truck for half an hour and we kill civs doing runs it’s not really fair for civs on the server getting gun downed because they are earning money.

Add a 500m kos zone to the truck don't understand why you wouldn't. Half the rebels don't bother deccing anyways...

What about adding in a similar system to wasteland where large money convoys spawn at a location and travel to another with a constantly updating GPS signal attached to it on the map. Yes they will drive along certain routes only but just make it relatively difficult to kill all the AI within the convoy. For example Hunter HMGs or something along those lines.

    Example: 1min 47secs

Obviously tailor it to Altis Life and scale down the vehicles.

I am liking @Lupus Reaperprospective on this, i understand that Altis life is really buggy when it comes to AI on the map. But if it was set to just a driver and gunner with specific details for them to not dismount and are deemed "Safe" until Threatend it would work out really well. It would just be adapting the exact WL mission to altis life and having it spawn dependant on when the staff would like it it.

The point of the black market convoys is that they are redeemed and done by gangs and in return get the gear because they "protected" it. Although they hardly protect it because the events are run poorly and nobody knows where to go. Replacing them with AI would be stupid, as they're not protecting their own convoy and instead we're forced to fight AI.. If we want to fight AI we'll play I&A or Wasteland. We want to fight players. Not to mention it would **** the servers already poor FPS and lag problems.

I love the idea of an active GPS marker like that on Wasteland but it would be far too difficult considering AL Staff spawn in trucks for the gangs to use. Don't know if it'd work but hey im no dev.

It would be possible, Having it in the admin menu for them to just click it and start a Mission that would place the trucks down and lock the marker to said trucks. Anything is possible in the world of coding. If i got some spare time i may work on this and hand it off to the AL staff.
