The new Arma 3 Contact DLC was dropped last night, featuring a variety of new assets, terrain, factions and single player campaign. You can find a great overview of the new DLC on the official Arma 3 website. In the early hours of the morning, @Fitz switched our rotational Invade & Annex server over to the new map. In the meantime, the North-Western island has been identified as a second strong point in our re-capture of the Horizon Islands. MISSION: Assault the entirety of the NW island and return it to the US and locals, clearing it of any Russian and CSAT forces. SITUATION: 7 bombs have gone off around the world hitting major cities. These cities are as follow London, Washington, Sydney, Moscow, Tokyo, Christchurch and LA. The United States Of America have tracked the cell responsible for the bombings to Lythium, Afghanistan. They have launched a full scale invasion into Lythium to remove the terrorist organization responsible for the deaths of thousands... After the US advanced forces secured the nearby towns around the Base of Operations, dozen more aircraft have been able to come in, though resources are still to come. Our next task will be to neutralize the HVT we located last mission and clear AA sites that have popped up. MISSION: Eliminate HVT and clear AA sites near the Base of Operations. Expected heavy resistance, the enemy have deployed BTRs and light CAS as QRFs so be quick. (Mission Trailer) SITUATION: Crossroads has lost contact with a routine air reconnaissance patrol tasked with gathering Vietcong movements. The last we heard from the pilots was that they took flak fire and were running out of fuel but were attempting to return to base. They still have not returned, 8 hours later. We a preparing a full scale SEARCH AND RESCUE MISSION to secure and evac the pilots. MISSION: Deploy air recon to the area to attempt to sight any signs of a downed aircraft. Once the aircraft is located, fireteams are to be inserted to secure and recover the pilots. Once contact with the pilots is made use any intelligence that they gathered to attack the flak position in addition to any QRF forces deployed. SIGNAL: CROSSROADS: Gen. L. The Theatre of War - Community Zeus Campaign OPERATION CURTAIN'S DRAW: Jungle warfare and the threat of a global takeover is the theme of a new campaign ran by @decibel_spl called the Theatre of War. The first mission, named Operation Curtain's Draw, will run at 17:00 AEST on Sunday the 28th (tomorrow) - Pack well, it's gonna be a long one. Semper Fi Marines. WHERE: The mission will be run on the Invade and Annex Event Server - search "straya" in your server browser to find it. Password to join is "straya". The server will be opened ~15-30 minutes before the mission for players to begin to customize their kits and ask any questions. StrayaGaming Monthly News Bulletin THE HEADLINES SERVER UPGRADES: Thanks to all of the recent donations, we have been able to upgrade our dedicated server hardware. They are now running on i7-7700k's and have considerable more RAM, we will be getting better performance and can now host more services per host. We encourage players to report any issues that have arisen since the server upgrades to the appropriate server staff. I&A TANOA/MALDEN UPDATE: The Invade & Annex Tanoa/Malden server is now running a new version of the I&A mission file, which includes the new role selection system Quik has been working on. When a player connects to the server, they now skip the traditional role selection screen and immediately spawn in as a standard rifleman. Players will then have the option to change roles, based on the new dynamic role systemwhich increases/decreases the number of each role based on the current server population. ANNOUNCEMENTS SG EVENTS DISCORD: Over the past month our new Events Discord has been instrumental in running weekly events on both our I&A and Wasteland servers. We have also had the opportunity of hosting several community zeus events run by some of our talented I&A players. THE THEATRE OF WAR- COMMUNITY ZEUS: The Theatre of War is a new campaign of Zeus missions being run by @decibel_spl based on jungle warfare with a threat of a global takeover by China after becoming a superpower. The first mission - named Operation Curtain's Draw - gave us intelligence that the Russians have been supplying CSAT forces with equipment and weaponry - this is assumed to be part of the Treaty of Good Neighbourliness and Friendly Cooperation, enacted in 2001 (4 years earlier). The significance of CSAT's presence on the island of Tanoa has decreased thanks to the removal of Zheng, but unrest is still reported. Marines will be working alongside the Army to try and calm the citizens over the coming days. Be sure to keep an eye on this thread for the next mission briefing. ESCAPE NIGHTS: Starting in the near future, the Community Team will be running a weekly Escape Night on Fridays at 7PM. Escape The Island is an up-to 20-player coop gamemode where the players attempt to reach the borders of the map by any means possible to escape. Along the way the way they have to survive onslaughts of infantry, armed vehicles, artillery, helicopters and attack aircraft trying to stop their attempts to get off the island. StrayaGaming Monthly News Bulletin THE HEADLINES ALTIS LIFE UPDATE v10.0: A major update to Altis Life was released in early March, heralding the long awaited return of the crafting system. Players can once again combine mined or collected items into weapons and gear. The v10.0 update also includes the addition of several vehicles to the 3 gang bases; quilin minigun, 4WD LMG, Armed Offroad and Unarmed Kajmans. Depleted uranium has been added as another rebel method of making money and for use in crafting. You can read more about the update here.
