We have had a discord for a while now but never had a proper use for it until now. The discord will be used as a Q&A chat, so if you have any questions about Altis Life you can ask them there.

Rebuilt housing system:

All other major systems have been rebuilt, so it's about time housing was rebuilt too. The main reason for this rebuild is to reduce unnecessary network traffic. This new system will require a new house database structure, but don't worry, your data will not be lost. We will convert all house data to the new format when we release the update. The conversion process has been tested over and over on current house data and completes the conversion with no errors, so we should be all good in that regard.

There are a few front-end changes with this system so let's get into that. To start, there are no crate objects anymore. Inventories are stored virtually now so we do not need storage crates. Now you can purchase storage from your house. There are up to four storage levels same as before, except it all goes into one inventory instead of having an inventory per crate. The capacity of Arma item storage (Main Inventory)  will not change. Large storage crates have 4000 capacity and small crates have 500, the new system does not change these values so if you had four large storage crates, you will still have 16,000 main inv capacity. Virtual storage capacity will have a slight increase. The inventories themselves are accessible from the house menu. Simply open the menu when inside the building and select the inventory you're after. Only one person can use an inventory at a time, this is to prevent duping.

Everything else remains the same. To give someone else access to your inventories you must give them keys or unlock storage. Your storage also becomes unlocked if someone breaks in or the cops raid your house (using the 'Break down door' button on their house menu). You must be online for others to access your inventories.

We have finally made some progress with the server crashes which I would like to share with you all.

Firstly, we are not alone with these instability issues, there are loads of servers experiencing similar issues & far more severely than us. Big name servers such as Asylum, Olympus, Roleplay UK and even Zero-One (before it shut down ) have all been victim to mass kicks as frequently as every half an hour during peak time.

After speaking with one of these communities we performed a few tests disabling parts of features on the server that we hadn't considered before. One of the tests had positive results, improving stability during peak time.

It is important to remember that while we can fix the server crashes, we most likely can't stop the mass kicks ourselves. They can happen as low as 40 players, and if we were to lower the player cap that low we might as well not have a server. Many communities are experiencing mass kicks, even some who have completely rebuilt their mission file. This suggests that it may not be a piece of code causing the instability, but perhaps a method of achieving something or the result of an action. Some servers don't seem to have these problems. If they figured out what was wrong, fixed the cause without knowing it or never had the problem in the first place I do not know, but if someone did find a fix I'm sure it would have been shared by now. If not by them then by someone else. Last time we saw mass kicks on this scale it was an issue with animations which was fixed by Bohemia themselves. They have said their QA team is actively investigating the current mass kicks, so we just need to sit tight.

As for our server crashes (which occur with the mass kicks), we have made decent progress in resolving them. Like I said above, one of the tests we performed had positive results which is good news. We've left the setup for that test active and over the past few days have been writing a replacement for the feature that was disabled. I won't go into detail about what this replacement is just yet, but I will say that it does need fine tuning which can only be done with data received from a decent number of players. Tomorrow we will be releasing an update to the server that includes what we need to get the data required for fine tuning, and then sometime next week we hope to release all aspects of this feature.

TL;DR: Many servers are experiencing mass kicks, there is not a lot we can do about them, BI say they're looking into it. We have however improved stability during peak time which has resulted in the server recovering from mass kicks instead of freezing. There will be an update tomorrow which will help us get data required to release a replacement for a feature that had to be disabled for stability reasons.

Details:

Bus Stops:

Travel from city to city with the new bus system added in this update. Simply navigate to one of the bus shelters and select your location.

Cartel & Contractor bases:

Requires respective license to spawn at (same as rebel bases).

Delivery missions:

Civilians can now take out delivery missions from the designated delivery points on the map. Unlike the default delivery missions, ours will spawn you a vehicle to use & place a waypoint down so you know exactly where you’re going. There are legal and illegal variants that both vary in pay depending on the distance between start and finish.

There is a slightly modified version of these missions available for EMS from the hospitals.

KOS rebel shop:

Down in the KOS zone sits a shop which opens once 30 civilians are online. The shop sells high powered weapons as well as rare vehicles.

Tokens:

Tokens are new items that will be handed out by staff as a reward for good role play. Tokens are used to craft top tier items.

Dynamic crafting times:

Crafting times are now dependent on the item you’re crafting, meaning smaller items will craft faster than larger items.

Request EMS acknowledgement:

When requesting EMS your respawn timer will increase by 20 seconds, giving EMS units time to acknowledge your request. If acknowledged, your timer will then increase a few minutes more and you will be alerted that an EMS unit is on the way.

We have gone back to basics with crafting, making it a more viable option than buying items.

Sydney Square & PD facelift:

In the Arma 3 1.72 update, all Apex props were unlocked for all players, regardless of Apex ownership. As a result, we now have a far more appealing Sydney Square and PD.
