+1 Aether displays professionalism and a firm competence in any situation. This would be much better utilized by the APD if he were a sergeant.

It's literally in the same damn thread. EDIT: I'm going to reiterate, These aren't laws, they're just a setup for how the judicial system should operate, so it fairly handles cases based on the usage of NSW legislation.
-
Altis life is an attempt at replicating a real-life scenario, of course with its obvious changes. There are hundreds of laws, and that's why the cases are so much more interesting. With the bonus of NSW Legislation being professionally written and already done. We don't expect lawyers to learn every law, Lawyers are expected to be given a case, research into that case, and find spots in legislation that would give them favour from the Judge. It's not meant to be immediately clear-cut. What few cases I have had on this server with NSW Legislation have been incredibly fun, even researching is enjoyable. It's just the structure that everyone has been complaining about. We wrote up a 3-4 page document, which covered everything and was given the go-ahead (Just never implemented), we know it needs to be simple, but we're going in circles of "We're working on it", yet it was already worked on and handed to you. We get why it was ignored by management directly, but even then you still had people putting their hand up to say they want to help out and AL management can look over their proposition and either just give it the go-ahead, edit it, or just deny it. These aren't concise statements. These posts left a lot up in the air, hence why people keep making new posts on the topic. I was honestly hoping for a serious comment so I could be sarcastic, but I guess you win that one

The word you're looking for is "discussion to help us understand where everything is at, and allow us to put forward suggestions" in place of "wasting time" November, 2017 Look at the earlier posts in this thread. Who are you?
-
I've seen that thread, even posted on it. Which clearly you haven't read. I also will repeat myself on this note, this has been worked on since November last year, these issues have been brought up a thousand times. And my claims aren't baseless, certain members of higher management have repeatedly stated their refusal to deal with the judicial system for various reasons. I'm not trying to have a go at you lot, but some clarity in your announcements would be nice. I appreciate the fact you've taken the time to respond, however, all this shows me is you've failed to actually read our previous suggestions (Since your entire post has already been covered in previous messages), or even take them on board. As I've stated you have a group of interested members of your community that want to see the Judicial system be used, and have knowledge (Some cases experience) in working with a judicial system and how it should run, some of which are longtime Straya members. EDIT: On a side note, there's no way you're going to be able to create a comprehensive list of laws for AL without it just being a 12 point list of broad and interpretable laws which will make the actual cases not only boring but difficult to come up to in the first place due to its structure. I implore you just stick with NSW legislation as we already have, and it's worked well. You just need to restructure the hierarchy and redo the guidelines/expectations (Which documents and suggestions have been provided, as per my previous message) There are members here that are happy to do it all for you (As they have shown in the past), even able to if AL management would push them in the right direction in terms of how management wants it to run.

The system has been in "being reworked" for ages, if you check the time stamp on the docs I posted you'll see they're from November last year. With a lot of AL/Higher management stating they don't want to even touch it. This community has a few members who are quite versed in how a judicial system works and have openly expressed their desire to help, and the fact they are being ignored is rather concerning since no input is being taken on board.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1RZOeMx3kpdp_CRfs1RRaLGdr3U8XHiX_Hj9mboTWoBw/edit This is the "step by step" version we made for it to be a bit easier to understand, however, it's a bit cluttered. This was the accepted version by Subnoise, however, was never implemented due to how things were going before he stepped down from AG. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Vie_12Bmfw6X4PEBcPxi-vrKQmZA-pH8DwV7CwMWyC4/edit This is the legislative format version, using fancy words and was meant to be what is quoted during court sessions. While I don't think I can classify either of these as "finished" there's not much further we can go with editing them until AL staff give us the go-ahead (Or pointers in terms of how they want the Judicial system to run)
-
This is why you need to redo the system, and put someone in place who can mediate this all correctly. There was a document (The same one I've constantly referenced in all of these judicial posts) that did explain how lawyers should act in terms of setting up cases against the PD so it's not just a time-wasting **** fest.
-
This is actually a fun story of how not to manage a hierarchy. Jack Fire was AG a very long time along, then Subnoise got it and left without saying much (Back when Stalker and myself were pushing for the new judicial set up) and without much of a thought it was handed to Venom, who wasn't well informed that he was the new AG (Note his not coming on the server) so the system stagnated since Nevetos didn't seem to want to touch it. You even had (and still have) lawyers who were added and never written down, as well as conflicting rosters of current members which did contribute towards a bit of infighting over who has what authority. The higher management of AL even had various comments of "I really don't want to touch it with a 10ft poll" due to its situation Actually, I think it'd be worth organising a group of individuals who understand how a judicial system should work, have them set up documents and SOPs for recruitment, management, ect so when the new laws do come out you not only have a group of people who know what they're doing to consult, but also a group to actually enforce them off the bat. (Believe it or not but there's a very small group of players who actually are rather understanding of how your judicial system works, and seem interested in positions such as these) Although, I don't see why new laws need to be written, just use NSW legislation and for certain areas of where AL differs just create exceptions, it's a lot less work for you guys, and gives lawyers freedom to actually research legislation and make a case instead of just reading a 12 bullet point list. The main thing you guys would need it the rework of the current structure.

I&A staff might need to do a little reading up before helping with events on Altis. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Role-playing

Didn't you leave? You'd fit in nicely at parliament if you think this judicial system is "functional". It's up to the judges to punish people for putting off court cases, there doesn't need to be a thing written about it because we follow Australia law, to which there already is. By evidence of past cases the system doesn't work, constant fights over who gets to judge, biases, reasoning, ect. A lot of things don't make it to court because of bickering over pointless shit because no one understands what they're doing. There are no applications for lawyers, the lists are all outdated and contradictive of each other, information on lawyers and their rule sets are sparse if existent at all, and my favourite part is the only current members of the judicial system don't seem to have any actual knowledge. Even just a small training session for the ones that aren't sure so they are actually properly inducted into how to do their job would be lovely.

It's not regularly used because of how terribly it's managed. There have been multiple suggestions and even fully written documents, guidelines, and proposed hierarchies which have all been ignored for "We're looking into it", yet nothing ever comes. You've had a very specific group of players try and revive your judicial system yet you've continued to let it sit and do absolutely nothing for the server besides create drama. A simple fix would be put someone with knowledge of a properly working judicial system in charge and just oversee it, you don't need to personally manage it. The claim of "available resources and time" would be easily fixed. The server could very well use a working judicial system to not only help the police force, keep them under control, but also due to the use of civilian contractors there could and would be civil cases between organizations, or even against the police force for failing to adhere to there contract. This system could benefit everyone if it was run correctly, so why not just give it a shot?
-
Your issue with this is there's already a set up for this. E.G: Gang bases which act exactly as how you've mentioned but it's a KOS zone instead of a safezone. Having one for every gang would be far too difficult, the 3 base set up works fine as is.
-
Even then we still get dec'd on. Lets say we have the numbers to deter people from deccing on us, they still avoid the checkpoint forcing a car chase which ends in a desync ram/crashing into a wall. Voiding any and all roleplay.
-
You're forgetting "Waaaaaaaaaaaaaah the police raided my house! I lost all my stuff! I quit!" It'll literally just be more of that
-
Corruption was recently encouraged by higher management within the staff team for a more diverse roleplaying experience. While the higher ups within the cop force are still expected to punish them, I don't believe it's something that will get any of them in any *major* trouble.

I've had a few moderators and help desk staff tell me differently in cases involving commissioner approved civilian contractors entering city limits with their contractor gear, some stating they can enter while others stating they can't. Is this rule intended to mend that issue by allowing them to enter city limits with the contractor gear if approved?
-
Everyone has recently been getting this one, no reason what so ever. It seems almost entirely random of who gets kicked and when. I personally have gotten kicked once or twice by it in a week, and it doesn't seem too common for a single individual, but with 130 people on it's decently often that *someone* on the server is getting kicked.

Roleplay...Battlefield... ??? Tasers won't be removed, regardless of how rustled your jimmies are over the issue, this has been brought up before, but I'll summarise. Tasers are "effective" up to about 50m, and past there are unable to tase and do minimal damage (If any). Tasers are a 1 hit tase regardless of armour, (and tase an individual for approximately 10 seconds) as long as the bullet is able to penetrate through the armour and hit it's target the target will be tased. Due to the taser being a 5.56 it can't really penetrate vehicles, but there are a few exceptions. Now, instead of getting shot and dying a "rebel" is subdued and restrained, then processed by police. (This being roleplay, instead of just hitting respawn 3 minutes after you die) So the point of them not being roleplay orientated is silly. Secondly, they're needed by the police to subdue literally anyone in any case, since you can't subdue someone with lethals. (The whole being dead thing stops police from arresting the individual) To wrap this argument up, they aren't OP. Not in the slightest. Let's assume we're from 50m an officer has tased a rebel, that officer now needs to run up to him and restrain him before the tase timer is up while also not getting shot by any of the rebels teammates. A lot of the time a taser is only useful in a 1 v 1 situation where the rebel is close enough for an officer to run up to him and restrain him after being tased. And..You really need to look at how you view the police, man. Cops aren't meant to try and always kill rebels, there is an escalation graph which they follow, which leaves them at using lethals only when it isn't safe to tase an individual.

To be fair, there's no rule stating I can't start up an organization based entirely on speaking another language so RP from outside gangs can't be done and shooting everyone because "Terrorism lel". But it's an RP server, and this organization would be frowned upon.

Has such an edgy thumbnail (A+) Is it IC though?

(OOC) It looks like someone is standing inside a certain HQ overlooking the PD in sydney. One that belongs to a certain civilian organisation. One that would probably consider it trespassing to be on those grounds without permission.
