You really do need to consider the negatives for such a large move like this. "It worked before it'll work again" isn't really the best argument. A few things to note: What if you put the wrong person in charge? Things will end up worse than they are now. Who is the right people to put in charge? Regardless of who you put up people will complain, the community will be split, especially with its current state, and this might cause more issues than it solves. Furthermore, with the reset of staff you'd lose a large chunk of viable members to actually moderate the server, or helpdesk which in turn would probably turn the server into more of an unmoderated RDM fest. If there needs to be a removal of staff members, start with the ones making comments about how they don't give a shit about their jobs, or the ones with poor attitude/work ethic. They're the reason you want the reset in the first place, why not start with them?

Well, no it's kind of the opposite. In some cases the server rules mimic some laws but that's simply so the server is more balanced, I.E no big guns in city limits since when that was allowed it was a cluster ****. Server rules and Laws kind of have to be separate, since the cops don't enforce server rules, they enforce the laws, and vice versa for the moderation team. If people were getting picked up by mods for speeding, or getting kicked for shooting another civilian (While that is illegal, it's not against the rules) it'd be a little silly. The laws and server rules really shouldn't have any correlation, server rules should exist to make the server fair. Laws simply exist for the APD/Civillians to have guide lines to RP by.

Because you then walk the line of 'legal' or 'against the rules' You're also trying to juggle what the rebels say, versus what the cops say, versus what the mods say, and it doesn't help the mods constantly disagree with each other. The rule has been interpreted differently so many times by the staff team it's gotten out of hand. Since there's never been a concrete rule around it with the current rule set. For example contractors were never allowed to bring rebel weapons into city limits even with permits since they were rebel. However now that's not that case. Certain weapons were also listed as nonrebel/rebel by a public post of the APD forums a while ago (Which was only recently removed) because there was no actual list and that list contradicted how it currently is. However since James has just set it straight we finally have a reference to go off.

That's what was said above. The Sting and Vermin being illegal does make it so they can't be brought into city limits though.
  5. McCain

I'm aware, though you hardly see them since I doubt people get the hideouts for the Sting. I meant in the regard that it's outright illegal because it's from a gang hideout, so it's considered a rebel variant. The rule directly references "rebel" weapons not being allowed inside city limits.
  6. McCain

The Sting is not included since it is a cop only weapon. The general consensus is if you kill a cop/take a weapon from a cop that you wouldn't be allowed to have in city limits you are allowed to finish your declaration using that new weapon, then should make an attempt to leave. I.E, don't stay about flexing your gun that no one else can have in city limits. (Some mods let you stay around for a bit and start a dec or two with your new gun, so it does depend who is moderating the situation) This all should be clarified in the rules, though that's adding to a long list of things that need to be clarified/changed in the rules. I'm sure management will step in and clarify further if needed.

I get what you mean but it's a little counter intuitive. >"Why are cops using a taser at bank that's fail VLR they shouldn't be so confident!" >"Cop tasers are too OP!!!!!" Even if these arguments weren't made, you can't exactly force cops to go lethal only, that defeats the entire point of the police force, they're here to protect, not cause a genocide. Cops have protocols for escalation, going tasers>lethals>and so on, if you made lethals the first response then tasers would never get used.

    >Implying rebels even RP that, and don't always say "I'm a terrorist lul I don't fear death" So this post comes up a lot, and it's the same arguments over and over. I really suggest looking back at other tase/knockdown threads and catching up on them before posting the same thing.

I know this has already been fixed, but you just needed to crawl under the Blackfish to refuel it.

It's not too hard to become a cop, you've just gotta find a time where the pub slots aren't taken. (Your to-do list is essentially just this: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-kd9AoyU-nkgQVf5R5-i3iAeNKpsmE6g7igTPttrHcM/edit ) A summarised checklist: -Have your induction training (This will be done once you get a pubslot) -Total 15 hours as a pub slot (You do have to time this your self) -Receive at least 2 recommendations from Senior Constables+ Once you've done that you can put in an application to become a full time cop at https://strayagaming.com.au/forum/587-full-time-enlistment/

As nice of an idea as this is it just isn't viable. It's going to have to remain something Sydney GD does. All other checkpoints aren't used, and if they were there'd be rebel gangs targeting them non-stop (For RolePlay of course)

But they're both so perfect :))

You'd go with the majority. If 51% says yes then you'd want to, since the majority would be happy ergo keeping more players. I'm not advocating doing it if there is a 51%, but that's just how I see it.

You're looking at a top end SRT loadout. I'm talking about people outside of SRT access. (I was also under the impression the SRT store already got a heavy nerf) I pay about 50-60K less than a rebel for a comparable gear set up and then have to spend a bit extra on items I need to buy that a rebel doesn't. So yes we pay less, but we die so much more often and even without dying Sergeats+ have to consistently be buying explosive charges for whenever we capture a rebel vehicle, which averages at 18k per vehicle. A cops income might be large, but it's only when they catch someone, and don't split it with anyone, or give it away. Cops can go ages without making any money, then suddenly make a mil, which tends to cover the costs of the gear they constantly buy or even put them ahead of what they were.
  19. McCain

That's wrong, but sure. Both sides are arguing "But my side is going to be weak" yes that's the point of a wipe so everyone has a fresh start, both sides will be weaker then what they usually are, both sides will have **** all. Cops, in general, tend to have access to more than rebels but the situations they face tend to require it so it's balanced out. Personally, I'd love to see the removal of high-end equipment with this wipe so having played on the server for longer doesn't make you so much more powerful. I'm not saying remove everything high end, but at least look into toning the server down a bit and putting more of an emphasis on that mid-range equipment combat.

This. I agree with this entirely. I think the safezone should again be expanded to cover up to where the old air garage was, however, vehicle damage should be enabled outside of the Sydney Market its self. (OR even in the Sydney market) This is going to stop people constantly RDMing, since office/construction is your main point of RDMing/random shooting and the only reason the safezone its self is cancer is because fo the speeding and vehicle glitching. Past air garage I think the cops will be able to keep RDMers/trolls under control since it's harder to bunch up so far out of the center of Sydney.

Personally no, since I can see cause behind what happened. I think compensation could have just been given and that would have been that. However, helpdesk and I never get along, especially when it comes to them quoting rules that don't exist. So it's common for me to disagree with actions taken.

5.8 All declarations must include the following 5.8.1 A statement of intentions e.g. This is a robbery 5.8.2 An action for the person being declared on e.g. Hands on your head 5.8.3 A consequence for failing to comply e.g. You will be shot By server rules, it wasn't a dec. It was a poorly phrased question, especially with a vehicle engine running in the background so I can see how it may have been misheard. However, most decs on the server don't have all 3, a lot of the time it's just "Put your hands up or die" even then that's the best I've seen, the most common one I get is "Hands up, hands up" so I can see why things went as they did.
