Hey all, I just thought I'd share with you all my air practice map/mission I've put up on the Steam Workshop. I've used it to practice heli/jet flying and target practice. I'm hoping this might be of some help to aspiring pilots. Feel free to post any suggestions in here and I'll do my best to incorporate them (if they seem like a good idea ). http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1225713517 Includes Zeus, base defense (AI), friendly AI jet and helicopters, towing (with Advanced Towing mod), respawn, player healing bays, repair 'hot-spots' on runways, running repairs (via radio) and enemy targets (ground forces in Frini and Galati, laze targets via radio, spawn jets via radio).

I'm keen, will depend on the day as to if I'm available. What days & times are you thinking?
-
Good to know those issues/limitations. I'll have a bit more of a think and see if I can come up with anything else...
-
Night-time missions? (e.g. POW rescue, VIP snatch, plant a bomb) Assuming you know when night-time will be, and it's happening when you're zeus-ing, brief before nightfall then the team has a limited time to execute the mission (e.g. the base isn't as heavily guarded at night but come daytime the defences substantially increase). Or hold off against an attacking force until daybreak, when reinforcements arrive (i.e. the mission ends).
-
What about some stealth missions? Get into an enemy base, recover some object or download some data then get out again without being detected. Could set some people up in overwatch and/or UAV operator (darter?) to watch for patrols and know when it's safe to move. If you are detected, and you don't neutralise the enemy alerted to your presence quickly, then base goes on alert a large enemy force is called in (or the base's forces bear down on the alert location). Trouble is it's probably more of a small team mission...

Hopefully this makes sense - I'd love to have a way to see what player specialisation/class slots are in-use/available when I'm in-game. Two examples to help explain: "Is there a UAV operator on"? If the UAV operator doesn't respond on TS (could be there is none, they're not in there or they're not listening), it would be helpful to be able to open up map, or maybe a window via the Home key and see if the UAV slot is taken (without having to go back to the lobby). "Is there a spare X slot"? If I'm in-game and thinking about swapping to another specialisation it would be nice if I could see if that's possible (or if it's overpopulated and thus I might pick something else or stay as-is) without aborting the current game and going back to the lobby. I understand this probably isn't the highest of priorities but I thought I'd throw it out there to, hopefully, add it to the list :) I tried googling this concept to see if there was anything out there about this but couldn't find anything. Not sure if that's because I don't know enough Arma modding/dev/server/hosting terminology, no one else wants to do this or this isn't possible. I'm happy to research some more but I'd need a bit of a help along with regards to what I'd be looking for. P.S. @=S.N.A.F.U.= might say this is his idea, but I totally voiced it first :D

Not that I'm aware of. I had it running locally and the only mod I have downloaded and installed is Athena. Unless cba comes packaged with it? I did just notice, however, that the creator of the mod has applied for BattleEye white listing for the latest (Beta) zip (he actually suggests using the Beta version rather than the current release - see https://forums.bistudio.com/forums/topic/171846-athena-an-arma-2nd-screen-application/ - the first post seems to be kept up-to-date even though it's originally from 2014). So I'm guessing until that happens there's not much point white listing the app on the Straya server? I also noticed there's plans to distribute it through steam workshop. Would that also be a requirement for whitelisting it?

So I just got myself a second monitor for my computer and I was thinking it would be nice to utilise it for ARMA 3 to either extend the display or for something like a map display. I happened across the mod Athena and installed it but I noticed that it's not allowed by the I&A server. Is that a deliberate choice or just because mods have to be whitelisted and this one hasn't been considered? If it's the latter is there any chance it could be considered as an allowed mod? Either way, does anyone else have a second monitor and use it for ARMA 3? If so - what do you use it for? If you use it to extend the game display - would you mind sharing how you did it? It seems I'll need to use some third-party tool and I'm keen to hear from anyone who has it working successfully. Thanks! (*edited for spelling)

Hey guys, I'll jump in on this too if possible. Not sure I'll make it on until Thursday night but I'm keen to do some missions together. I'll friend you @NS24 and my profile is http://steamcommunity.com/id/sirpetri/ in case you or @InfamousNova need it.

Hi all, Just wanted to introduce myself - I'm known in game as SirPetri and I'm new to ARMA 3 (I haven't played any of the previous ARMA games either). So far I've only played on I&A because I enjoy co-op games, especially when they're objective-based. I just turned 31, I'm a guy and I enjoy a bit of casual gaming when I've got the time to spare. The Straya I&A server is perfect for that. I like to fly helicopters but also happy to just go shoot something with my rifle if there's no pilot slots available. See you around! Petri
