that's what that is, Virtual Arsenal. BI added it in the game ages ago as an virtual inventory sorter, saver, and loader. I'm not sure if it would work well in wasteland though, just because of how wasteland works. how would you want it added and used? because there's not many places it could be used in wasteland, if at all.

Also a heads up to those who might want to join, the first mission was open to get an idea of interest. From here, the missions will still be open to anyone, but they need to sign their names on the forums here before we'll let them join. There was a lot of coming and going tonight, while I was ok with it. This is supposed to be a more roleplay event, so we'll keep the group closed to those who haven't yet signed up. For a few reasons, namely, so I have an idea of what numbers I have for the missions ahead of time and to also keep a little order in the teamspeak, so people in there will have info in the forums and can check it if they want to know about something.

well, so far, looks like people are free Friday most. Chuck your names here if you'd like to join so I can add you to a conversation for the series.

The trouble would be, it's too easy to then lock onto a target and shoot it without permission, so pilots would be more tempted to do so. Also, where is the fun in it! I'd get so bored being CAS shooting ATGMs at everything from 4 kms out without any threat. The fixed wing flight model is boring enough as is, at least you're challenged to hit your targets without the ability of the ATGMs. Which results in better pilots all round, if a pilot depends on the ATGMs, they won't gain skills that they currently are because we don't have them.

@real probably more likely in the afternoons, after the 6pm restart, but we'll see

doesn't TFR just alloy the conversation anyway? if they don't run TFR they just talk like normal in TS and everyone hears it. I thought that's how it worked? only the people with TFR get effected?

sometimes the admins like to have some fun

MORE TANKS!!!!!! As a regular tanker it does get annoying getting on and seeing no tanks. But TBH, I'm also getting sick of the whole getting AI in the tank and NOT wanting human crew AT ALL... I mean yeah, sometimes you get people that don't know what they are doing. But having a human crew in a tank is the BEST fun! Working together while on the field of combat with communication and having more eyes than just the one are a few things that make human crew so good. So the addition of dedicated "Tank Crewmen" slots would hopefully help encourage the idea of having human crew, if they choose that slot, then they WANT to tank. I like this layout maybe 2 or 3 tank crew groups would be nice, depending on how many tanks we want in the car park.

Well said, Though, I honestly think the UAV op should be ok to call in CAS, as they usually have a better eye on things than some of the infantry. Not to mention it is part of their role as a forward observer to communicate fire-support on to target. The other thing I'd add to this is the defend missions, support is free to fire on anything outside the a ring of say 100M of the EHQ. Because the defends are so vehicle intense and hard to survive to start with, the infantry have a hard time marking targets for support to shoot at. So giving them free reign on targets in this situation will help the survival of infantry.

yeah, all cleared up. Go for it

The potential to do all this is in zues, but as far as the actual mission file, we can't change it as it is. Only the mission maker can do that. However the other admins do their own missions from time to time to mix things up, I'd be more than happy to run missions like that if I had that ability, but I can't just have to keep an eye out for when the zues starts making things

if you give a warning the the other helos they should be able to move away, also if you're having that much trouble that you can't control your helo without anti-torque then you may need to practice those types of landings more. However, yes those boxes do get in the way sometimes

hmmm, not entirely sure what the problem was, seemed it didn't want to get rid of your ban, if you wanna try again and if it still isn't working, contact Shift or myself on TS
-
the server can only take so many slots, we can't really change the amount of players without reducing performance. Only allowing particular players through when it reaches it's limit is a mission of it's own, even if we COULD do that, it wouldn't be practical for the reason nova mention above

If you want to make things different or interesting, pick another pilot to fly in formation with, fly with them on transport runs land the same LZ and leave the base at the same time. It's surprising how much fun flying in formation can be, especially when it's with a pilot that is good or you trust, or even if you don't, flying their wingman can be interesting as you don't know what's going to happen next (also looks good for the ground guys seeing pilots flying together) Another option is we could always increase the amount of enemy aircraft. Anyway, we can only change up our heli list so much, and we can already fly most of them from the spawn. We DID have a parajumping jet that was in trial, but the infantry didn't like the idea as they lose their backpacks doing so. All in all, I really don't see much wrong with how our aircraft are set up, we have a large choice of air frames to choose from on spawn and it's really up to the pilots whether they make things interesting for them. Me personally I like to try land the infantry where-ever they ask me, just for the challenge (more often than not, it's a dangerous LZ) or where the front line of friendlies are, I'll drop just behind them. There are a number of things pilot can do to make things fun, they just have to think outside the box sometimes.

sounds really good. I like the idea of ghost 1-1 to 1-3, it'd be cool to see this used a little more, just for the fun of the roleplay... and I think it is about time we cleared that 'pad 1-4' thing up as well now we only need to find a way to hush things down in the channel a little and have people use those call-signs. would be cool

The First in First served ruling has been put in place because it was easier to maintain than having to kick people who are jumping in the slots because they're PC can load faster than any previous pilots. While there are many times when the pilots lose their slots yes, with the communication and the heads up from others on TS, they can be ready for the restart more so than some others which can lead to them getting their slot back.

I'll admit, from time to time I can get a little talkative in the pilots channel, but I do try to avoid it when I can. However the reason most people sit in the pilot channel is because they want to be a pilot and will sit there waiting for the call of "pilot slot open." I for one don't have too much of a problem if the pilots are the ones in the channel talking, it's their channel, so long as they stay quiet when someone is trying to communicate with them (which yes, can be an issue from time to time). For me the issue comes when non-pilots talk to each other in the channel, and as someone that when not piloting likes to call CAS in when I can; I often end up not being able to get a word in due to the other infantry guys going on about stuff happening to them. I like the solution of a lounge however, unless it's enforced early it may not change much. There are already plenty of other channels there, but are not used, mostly for the reason stated before, people want the pilot slots. For me the solution would have to go with enforcement, they are NOT a pilot, do NOT be in their channel unless communicating with them. To solve the 'pilots in waiting' I'd say get them more aware of the pilot leader board, I always have it on, whether a pilot or infantry. I do this to keep tabs on who the pilots are and how may there are as well. If we keep enforcement on the Pilots ONLY channel, pilots will know (I would hope) to be quite when someone joins the channel to talk to them. just thought I'd add my opinion Tracuer
