Hi, Bit of a noob with this stuff, wondering what else if any is available to run client side, or other, for better experience etc? From thread posts I've found; 1. I&A Custom addon - https://strayagaming.com.au/forums/topic/4262-ia-custom-addon/ 2. JSRS4 Apex 1.2 - https://strayagaming.com.au/forums/topic/2240-mods-addons-wishlist/?do=findComment&comment=14340 Is that it? any benefit from things like, Community Base addons A3? - http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=18767 Ta Edit: do these things update themselves via steam or do i have to keep checking?

That's freeloader justification, like not chipping in for fuel & bait when a someone takes you out in their boat. Only a small mind would only consider current operational costs rather than the bigger picture, that perhaps any residual funds would be utilised for ancillary servicing costs, or set aside for future upgrades (improved server performance etc). Personally I wouldn't care if they put it in their pocket, whilst they choose to do it for enjoyment, they provide a great service which not only costs $'s but also A LOT of man hours that most of us don't have the time or technical mind for (coding, bug resolving, blocking hackers etc), they bring many of us together to enjoy a near/full server everyday rather than other servers that only have a handful. $2.50 per week to enjoy it from the comfort of my home is a hell of a lot less than I spend on other enjoyments, certainly a lot less than I've put in arcade machines over the years, where the proprietor/s make a profit/living. Surprisingly sound advice and empathy? Like a Catholic preacher.

I understand, however believe there's ways around it. Personally, equipment/load-out restrictions isn't the reason I posted in this thread, I was simply replying to @=S.N.A.F.U.= re "subscribers hanger", just a "conversation" regarding what we've experienced elsewhere, without conversation admin get no user feedback, left to wonder what we want etc. My reason for posting is in my first post, "Re Whitelists", which is in the title of the thread, hindsight perhaps I should have saved cross-confusion and started my own.

lol, awww, a few restrictions makes it a little bit less fun because they're to tight to pony up a few bucks to help with server operating costs/improvements etc... while some who do donate are perhaps wondering why they bother, if they will again, when they continually witness the same players on the server enjoying all the same privileges without donating. Reminds me of those guys who prefer a free ride in life, you know the ones who stay up all night playing games, sleep in till lunch time, get back to gaming etc, Yet complain they have no money because they can't get a job, that unemployment benefits isn't enough etc, their lives funded by taxpayers (donators).
  5. Personally, the only reason I invest in A3 is for its near "realism" to past and current ADF in the middle east etc, incl ability, equipment & textures, rather than futuristic/imaginary high gloss concepts that "may" never eventuate in real life. Plenty of other options out there to appease that audience.

Yea I and prob many have experienced this (big in the AL community), whitelisted have all equipment available to them, sometimes varies/tiered depending on how much is donated, the others are restricted to low/med equipment (encouraged to donate). Perhaps until they've been signed off by an instructor no one can fly anything bigger than a hummy, less troops he/she can kill. "Subscribing" (in advance) for a separate #2 server basically means those who choose to are funding/covering its running costs, can choose to join #1 or #2 anytime, likely won't use #2 when its quiet/no one in it etc. However, during peak times when #1 is near full etc, only those whitelisted can get away from, well chaos is one word, can jump in #2. When the guys I know & myself (our squad) have our regular/planned meetup a few times each week we would jump on #2, utilising a full service rather than trying our luck hosting our own.

Re Whitelists; Personally, during peak it's difficult to access the server let alone select a prefered slot (maxed at 60) no doubt frustrating for most Straya I&A diehards/donators. I believe at least trialing a reduced number of open slots to say 40, increasing whitelisted to 20 various roles, would not only make it somewhat easier for us donators to get in, but also perhaps entice others who currently enjoy it for squat get whitelisted/donate, thus generating extra income for improvements etc. Perhaps another option, a second I&A server strictly for whitelisted, those of us willing to commit a minimum of say $10 per month (< $2.50 per week). Those prepared would hopefully enjoy a more mature experience with others who genuine diehards, take their role seriously etc. (edit: "Perhaps" that could be the new Tanoa server, leaving the current as is?)

As ur prob aware some bauk at any mention of mods, either don't understand/trust them or simply too lazy, can't be ass'd, like things simple. Guess if a thread went up promoting the event, generated enough interest with posts "I'm in" "yes please" etc etc, ppl chatn about it in the server etc, the timid ones may think they're gunna miss out if they don't sort out the bloody mod thing. What would be easy if there was a link they could simply click on that sorted it out for them, i.e. in the OP it says "Please Note, will require Iron Front mod to participate, click here and it will all be set up for you" If it were that easy "Vietnam Unsung" or sim would be another fun one to try with a large local (low ping) crew. - http://www.armanam.eu/ Having watched a few youtubes, with a bit of practice, it doesn't look to hard to make a simple mission, espec with the new editor, but what would take @Qeus or perhaps yourself maybe 30min to slap together would prob take my old brain a week, of frustration (lol) Whilst I'd prefer iron front (or sim) I kinda think many would be thinkn, why we using this old crap gun when we've been spoilt with all the modern stuff, a mix of the two wld be good. In the end it's just a bit of fun, different to the norm, the challenge of reaching the top of the hill against equally competitive teamwork, conquering, as long as we all have even balanced/restrained equipment (incl u admins ), even if modern (speed boats to the beach). Keep it simple. 70-80 slots with all the mortar going off at the start would cause lag issues wouldn't it? No rush, it's worth doing right the first time otherwise ya get flamed by ungrateful's...

Had a think about this today; (altho I'm a noob with what's involved to put it all together, how the background site functions etc) 1. (Area) Havn't personally researched the locations and distance yet (you'll get the picture) but from memory My mind was thinking up Nth, bit of cliff around a castle isn't there? which I guess could be setup to replicate/include bunkers etc. As there's no battleships to carry us all to Gallipoli, then give support by hammering the cliff with their big guns, perhaps we Blue could base ourselves (also respawn) on the nth little island we sometimes frustratingly spawn too (can't remember its name), if there's equipment with enough canon punch to reach the mainland cliff (from the island), perhaps it could barrage the cliffs while troops approach across the sea in boats, then while ducking & diving behind stuff while making our way up the beach to the base of the cliff (or hill), doing what the ships would have. 2. I'm"Assuming" you're considering running it in the normal I&A server after a restart? Friday night (most nights) can be easily maxed out (60). Considering a special event, most aware will no doubt want to be apart of it. The I&A server will be chockers including casual blow-ins taking up slots (gung-ho for the 1st kill), while dedicated Straya die hards/donators etc that work/communicate together as a team will be disappointed when they discover if they'd only gotten home from work or finished dinner etc with their family 5min earlier they may have gotten a slot with their team. Rather than this Friday, would it be better to perhaps spend a bit more time planning, organising, marketing etc, setting it up on a separate server, perhaps only open to invitees/donators etc? I reckon we could pull 60 easy, our side squad would have ~15, leave the normal server for everyone else. 3. ("Assuming" we pull 60) AI troops can be pretty stupid, stand out in the open exposed etc, easily taken out most of the time, even by me as a medic... So rather than use AI as troops (perhaps use them as gunners etc) what about 30 vs 30 (3 groups of 10 each side (min 2 x medics each), one working center, other two working left & right flanks), Blue (Aussies) vs Red (Turks)? All troops load in with the same kit/equipment (depending their role) Another consideration, maybe a $5 entry fee (via paypal), 60 x $5 = $300, of which a nominated panel of say 3 or 5 could decide the top performing soldier, funniest etc, who would each receive Steam credits at certain values, can be spent on arma or whatever. Had more ideas but brains fragged now

Bumping an old thread but... +1 to this... I've been itching for something like this on arma (modern game), enjoyed it on MOH (Medal of Honor) Infamous idea sounds good, be a blast getting off the boat, up the beach to the cliff/hill, then scaling it to take out enemy in trenches etc Wow showing my age here, awesome graphics etc lol

This sounds interesting, I and I'm sure most regulars wouldn't mind running a mod for better experience etc, espec if it could do more than just critters, and didn't impact on those that didn't (yet) have it.
