  1. Alright, here we go, I will do the honors and tackle this head first. In this post I will outline and explore the issues regarding the Wasteland server and I will propose optimal solutions in order to fix the server and help recreate the fun, populated Wasteland Server we all know and love. Myself and many others would like to see this positive change as the server can currently be much better. Once again I would like to start by reminding you that I don’t own a stake in StrayaGaming, I don’t gain anything other than fun from the server success. Bluntly the Wasteland server is not fun anymore and has lost its charm. This is due to the poor server performance and additional implementations/restrictions. So at one stage people were unhappy that keep getting killed by Vehicles? Why? Reality was everyone complaining was sitting down camping in the gun store? No one had the realisation “Ohhh that’s a bad idea let's try something else?” People can get weapons through the missions too? Unfortunately others saw this and took it the wrong way and removed vehicle functionality? This ultimately impinges upon the integrity of the player base. In reality, a squad can’t be everywhere at the same time, people need to split up. There is always a way in Wasteland and I have never found myself in a dead end with 0 options. 2 Primary issues as follows: Server Performance is terrible - limited view range impinges upon PVP Gameplay. Gameplay has deviated from a KOTH Style across map deathmatch to a restricted grinding simulator. How can we fix this? Revert back to vanilla and build up from the bottom, only put required scripts and remove anything which doesn’t positively contribute to the gameplay. This will also help resolve the current state of the gameplay. As mentioned the gameplay is not fun anymore and has deviated from the original KOTH style across map deathmatch. This is a large reason as to why the dedicated playerbase has left, there is nothing fun to do anymore, proper fights have been removed. Vehicle use has been “balanced” to a point that is beyond ridiculous. Grinding the game for money provides you with a currency in which you can use to purchase tools that will help you get more money. This right here is what has disappeared. You grind to get money which you can use to purchase ineffective vehicles and other useless tools??? People want to be able to spend 100k on a jet that can get 50-100 kills, people don’t want to spend 100k on a jet that will get shot down because AA costs under 10k for the launcher and 6 rockets, additionally you can position yourself anywhere on the map, you can be in a ghillie and hide away, what chance is a jet going to have? They are loud and noisy, can only rearm on the landed on ground which they are vulnerable and susceptible to random spawn solo vehicle rams and across map AT. AA Tanks cost cost less than half the price and can smoke a jet. Logically, why use air if it is useless? “The level of difficulty to spot players who may have ghillies and are masked with so much terrain in comparison to a loud Jet which you can hear and identify from so far. You can be hiding anywhere and all you need is an average backpack or 2 well-placed AA rockets to rip apart a Jet. Imagine 3-4 players all with AA part of a nice big Opfor Squad Each with backpacks full of AA.” Air is unbalanced because much of it is effective at long range only, therefore changing playstyle is required and much skill is needed to make use of the purchase. I also think that rearm should be free, people should be able to infinitely rearm such as in KOTH. The gamemode needs to reflect balancing of KOTH to bring the fun aspects into existence. Many may not understand but when you get pounded by a infinitely armed mortar the adrenaline that comes with the unexpected attack and the strategy involved to take it out was amazing(never really used mortars that much). The fight to hold the airfield and maintain air superiority was amazing, then if you had a jet on your team you had to protect it every time it had to rearm. There should also be a bank wipe with such changes. 3D spotting is also gone, as are thermals, how do you spot hidden ground players now in vehicles? If they are not in open areas near high risk areas what can you? Vehicles are bigger and make noise when they move. Handheld AA and AT just gets better and better. You spend plenty of money on expensive vehicles that are almost useless. Once again we must look at KOTH to realise how far we have deviated from the style once replicated in Wasteland. (Other issues and their solutions) Additional Issues brought up by other veterans: - “AA/AT compact launchers too cheap -Verona launcher should be cheaper, ammo needs to be expensive ~ $1500per - OP Gunstore bases designs. (prevents new player progression) needs build item limit within gunstore radius - Increase vehicle storage +1 - Fix pawnee flare and radar” Thank you for reading, I hope that these changes are taken into consideration and greater help is provided to allow the server to be max population again. I have spent time writing this because I care, please don’t respond with a thoughtless comment that adds no value to this thread. 1,000 words because I care...
  2. Case and Point. 100% agreed. ---------------------- Additionally, I tested the server the other day, I think the performance is absolutely horrible, and I have a decent PC. I firmly believe there must be an overhaul with the efforts of the greater community in order to resolve the issues. Before I make this point just remember that I don't own the server, I have no stake in Straya Gaming, I gain nothing other than fun from Wasteland's success. If a decision is made I am sure that efforts to utilise developers from other servers in one big effort to reform the Wasteland server will result in a fully functioning 60player server up and running with donations coming in. I really hope no-one takes this the wrong way, I am only trying to help FIX the server :D
  3. Not that my input should be valued over someone who currently plays however, I believe the key aspects of the community have 'faded' for lack of a better term. Anyone who has seriously been playing Wasteland for an extended period of time should easily be able to articulate the flaws currently prevent the server from success. From my observations over time due to certain changes and actions of particular staff members the 'seasoned' players began to diminish, this was the loss of the regular everyday committed group of players which populated the server day in day out. With this more changes were made to 'revive' the situation however unsuccessful and unfortunately led the what is now the current server status. Now I could go on for a while however I think the server should be returned to it's basis. The original form in which everyone played it for - extensive use of vehicles, mass destruction, mass player wars, strategy based warfare etc etc... No one particular enjoys the restrictions, the game will never be fair hence the learning curve and the ability to join large teams.

    Haha, I was thinking about it a while ago, although I don't think it matters much or means much to my 100 or so subscribers With such a small view count It almost feels pointless to make a twitter account etc. No one really cares at this point in time, however, if I am fortunate enough to reach at least 1k subscribers I will most likely do it.

    It's funny you say that I myself don't understand why Independent was hit by such a hard nerf to begin with... sounds like some corruption to me. Even with all the advantages Opfor has over Independent -> Server is becoming beyond a joke. Inde has and will always be at a disadvantage so why ruin it more. ---------------------------------- I never said I wanted to form a large or winning team, Dymiums small team of 7 Indes do that naturally. The fact that you have the nerve to nerf and neglect such a team is disappointing. You will see below why we don't play on Opfor or Blufor. ---------------------------------- You see I'm not sure anymore if the server is created for the staff or the community? I'm beginning to lose track of it all. So you're saying its best for the majority of players if you restrict Independent to 5 players to which they are unable to combat Opfor? Last time I checked Opfor was a serious issue that "needed" to be looked into. It's odd you would leave such a large group like Opfor to make hundreds of players ragequit and control the entirety of the map making it a terrible experience for anyone not on Opfor. ----------------------------------- You know it seems like you're almost rooting for Opfor in this argument. BUT WAIT, I almost forgot... Ya Mum ONLY plays on OPfor no wonder you're backing them up. Ok so the SG Staff filter out what they don't want and what they do so the server is for the Straya Gaming Staff fair enough... so why not put a passcode on entry and lock everyone else out? If you pick on all your players and give them a terrible experience the player count is going to fall like a wipeout being flown by a bad pilot. ----------------------------------- I didn't choose or ask for Inde to be limited to 5 people. Instead, the SG Staff decided on behalf of the community. Why even nerf Inde in the first place? Independent is a way of creating and controlling your own team, not having to deal with trolls and griefers. Meaning less complaints and less work for you... It's clear that there are so many more points supporting my argument and ridiculing this change and the thought process behind it. I sure didn't see anyone ask the community what they want. Hell lets ask the 4 Staff members we have because they are funding the community and populating the servers. Servers are run off communities, not off staff. Staff are vital in keeping order however without the player base the server is nothing more than an IP. ----------------------------------- So we tried Opfor, many times over. You specifically remember the result... Dymiums group dominated the entire server and you got angry, restarted the server so we lose our stuff and began abusing us the players and your rights as staff and as a result got a strike and warning. Not a good outcome. So we tried again today, we dominated the server once again, the normal Opfor players were all complaining that they weren't able to join and as a result wanted the server to fix the Inde slot limitation. We don't play on Blufor because 1. We cannot choose who we play with. -> Avoid playing with trolls. 2. Find Blufor players do not help and are rather there to take gear. There are so many more... As you can see this is not just a few points about what I believe. I'm very passionate for and supportive of the server however when abusive changes such as the aforementioned are made, I have no choice. This needs to be fixed and there definitely shouldn't even be a Inde group limit, its beyond a joke.

    But FBI we should nerf Inde more!!!! It's not like Arma 3 promotes team tactics and team play. Then it would be fair so all "good" players (Ones who can't play on Inde) all play on Opfor and sit around and vegetate as they fire AP missiles from the gunstore at anyone that moves then gain kills and believe they are good. Or actually when they move up on a solo Inde in a gunstore with 20 people and kill the player. It's REALLY odd that Agent Revolution specifically allows the use of mass Inde teams to combat Opfor and Blufor. Maybe we should just change the name from Wasteland - Team Deathmatch to OPforland - OPformatch? Because Blufor is terrible and they generally amount to random solo plays around the map and OH HEY lets make Inde a solo only. Yeah nice you can clearly tell apart the skilled players from the "veggies" by the teams they choose and the challenges they face. Wasteland is suppose to be balanced. All 3 teams should have the same power. You can NEVER argue Independent is OP or requires a squad limit. Because it simply wont have the numebers to combat both Veggiefors. As a side note, the term Independant is referring the Altis Armed Forces which are Stratis' Military - They are an Independant Military tasked to secure the soverign territy of Altis and Stratis. Please read before you type because saying its a good idea for a 1 man army to be a thing is reall ridiculous. Revolution allows you to chose between making a team of any size and allowing propper command and structure to playing by yourself.
