  1. After viewing the recent "Orange DLC" I've been interested in proposing a small amount of slots for a civilian faction for the server.

    Their role would be:

    - Clearing mines (I.e mines on the server don't despawn until defused)

    - Reviving dead players

    - Repairing vehicles

    - Delivering non-lethal supplies (Smoke grenades, medkits, repair kits, faks etc.)

These actions are rewarded with points that can be seen on the ingame leaderboards and the standard Arma leaderboards.

I am proposing 5 slots to be accessible to white listed members of the community (Can be changed, just my idea). The roles include:

    - IDAP Coordinator (Basically a squad leader)

    - IDAP Medic, access to medical delivery drone

    - IDAP Defuser, access to new mine clearing drone

    - IDAP Repairman, access to general supply delivery drone

    - IDAP Pilot, flies IDAP branded mohawk

Obviously this new faction comes under the civilian side, therefore necessary class and vehicle restrictions should take place, ground rules are as follows.

    - No rifles, launchers, sidearms (Except for flare pistol) or lethal grenades. Following rules for non-lethals

    - No entry into armed vehicles

On the other hand these restrictions are balanced with these bonuses:

    - Access to the IDAP ambulance (Acts as a taru medical pod with 20 or so revive tickets)

    - Access to new drones

    - Not being a target of the AI, due to their civilian status

    - Access to construction unifroms and IDAP uniforms

Also considering that these players will be a different side to blufor, tags will not appear for blufor players. Meaning that if someone kills an IDAP member it will not show as a team kill, however I believe that some sort of punishment should be in place to punish those attacking civilians, a possibility could be a player being sent to Gitmo for a couple minutes if the IDAP player deems it as careless or purposeful (Like the robocop system in place).

Any opinions are welcome for a possible introduction.

EDIT: Vehicles for these slots should include:

    - IDAP Ambulance

    - Offroad repair (Service)

    - IDAP Mohawk

    - Appropriate UAV's

  2. As I said I was very pissed off and made this in that moment and now realise such shoddy arguments, in retrospect I should've left the server at that point. Thanks for the clarification @InfamousNova and @Travesty  and @InfamousNova's beautiful grammar. Sorry for me rant and I will learn to adapt to Zeus in the future.....

...... And no, I will never join Cancer Life.... Ever

  3. Hello all,

Recently I got very pissed off at the incorrect usage of Zeus on the server. Some points include:

    1. The spawning of exterior jets after Radio tower has been eliminated.

    2. The Mass spam of helicopters and other powerful vehicles randomly into the AO.

    3. The usage of Zeus during low population.

Ways to fix this may include:

    1. Considering the state of the AO before spawning enemies in. (I.e defence spawn enemies in | Start of AO limit enemy spawns | End of AO provide a little extra challenge)

    2. Spawning enemies outside of the AO (2-3km away) then sending them in.

    3. Spawning enemy air targets when the tower is still operational.

    4. The scaling of zeus usage to server population.

    Opinions are welcome!

  4. The Praetorian currently doesn't serve the purpose of base aa as well as it should, I suggest one of two things to happen:

    1. Remove the trees surrounding the HESCO barriers near the base AA, for a gun that requires the largest field of fire possible to work to its best ability having trees around it makes no sense.

    2. Give back the Cheetah, the cheetah serves as a better anti air gun than the praetorian (An anti-projectile cannon). The praetorian gives us a gatling 30mm which can barely track targets or hit them, while the cheetah uses its missile and fast firing twin autocannons to dispatch enemy aircraft with ease.

  5. The limitation to only use the M320 and the Lynx serves a just purpose, only three sniper slots exist on the server (Two are public, one is whitelisted) therefore those slots must have access to these powerful weapons, however if a sniper is using a 9mm submachinegun he is not playing the sniper role and is just wasting the sniper slot. If classes became more restricted on weaponry it could work, but people will generally only play sniper for those two weapons.

If these changes were implemented 9.3mm/.338 could possibliy become a part of the sniper loadout:

    1. Every Medic, AT, Engineer, Demolition, Squad Leader etc. Gets a 6.5mm, 5.56mm 5.8mm or 7.62mm rifles - 5.56 and 6.5 for med range, and a 7.62 for longer range

    2. Every Grenadier gets a GL variant of the calibers mentioned above (Excluding 7.62x51mm as that is a Battle rifle caliber) - Obviously fitting in with the role of a grenadier

    3. Every Marksman, Sharpshooter, Spotter gets access to 7.62mm or 9.3mm/.338 - Only access to long/medium range rifles, making the class role more defined

    4. Every Sniper gets access to 12.7mm, .408, 9.3mm/.338 - Only access to top long range rifles,

    5. Every Autorifleman gets access to 5.56mm, 5.8mm 6.5mm, 7.62mm, 9.3mm or .338mm machine guns - Machine guns without stamina are powerful weapons, limit them to this class

    Special weapons:

    Type 115: Group 1, 2, 3

    Submachine guns: Group 1

    ASP-1: Groups 3, 4

    SDAR: Groups 1,2,3,4,5

The problem with this is that people will whinge about it and also more scripts, but would allow for the sniper class to use the 9.3/.338 without being ruined

  6. Couple steps I follow to not teamkill:

    1. Look for the helmet, CSAT especially have larger helmets that are more eggshaped.

    2. Look for movement, AI have a generally linear way of moving, they move in a single direction, pivot, then move in another.

    3. Look for uniform, CSAT have the Grey/Brown camo, AAF has the green camo. If a teammate is wearing Viper/AAF/CSAT gear and gets shot by you. It is their fault for dressing like an idiot, but I reccomend that you still apoligize.

*4. Don't use thermal scopes, its not an do all end all tip but thermal scopes provide lackluster information when it comes to IFF (Identifying friend or foe).

Hope these things help you, obviously the thermal scope only applies to new players but its still a good reminder of its trade off.

  8. Hello

I am planning to build a computer around the middle of June, with a budget of ~$1800, with a focus for playing games.

I got this current list :https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/Hfv43F

Wondering if any of you guys could hand me some pointers on how to make it better.

Note: I am in Victoria and only want to buy from Scorptec, CPLonline (Not listed on PCpartpicker), PCCG, PLE Computers, Centercom and Umart. Not willing to bother with deliveries.

  9. Remember how the US military started comparing the F-35 to the A-10? This is the same problem, instead of it being the price of the jet, it is the price of not having that dedicated CAS in the AO (And the price for the DLC).

As Tracey has mentioned the A-10 and the Neo serve perfectly as the current CAS.

The A-10 as a plane is not so powerful as it seems to be, its cannon is effective at 2.5km (Well within AA missile range) and that paired with the relatively poor mobility when compared to the Neo can be a recipe for disaster. Also the bombs promote communication with ground troops, which is always nice, the rockets on the A-10 are also quite poor due to limited ammo capacity.

The Neo acts as a counter balance to the A-10, where the Wipeout fails, it succeeds. The Neo's gun is not the best, it can take out light vehicles but no tanks, this is paired with a similar range to the A-10. The speed and acceleration is what make it good as a boom and zoom jet as it can provide great spouts of rockets (20 of each time) in a run and get the f*** out of there quickly, and finally its bombs are superior (Not many people notice this), the bombs are more powerful than the ones on the A-10, in all situations a target hit by a bomb will instant blow up if that bomb is dropped by a Neo.

From my experience of toying around with the Dev build, I am happy to say that the Wasp quite good in some respects, with it having larger focus on AA than CAS than its CSAT (And AAF) counter parts, making it ideal for the assignment of a AA jet.....However the atgms that is featured on the jet need to be disabled/stay disabled, for the same reason they were disabled on the Xian, there is no risk with using ATGMs. Similar to the usage of the Xian, people in this jet will linger outside the AO, taking potshots at enemy vehicles, in this circumstance, there is no coordination between ground troops (Lazing and calling lazes out) or risk (Going into range of AO to ground attack).

Another pointer for the Wasp not having its Atgms enabled is giving the Attack helicopters (Those with DAGRs and ATGMs) the slight powerful feel that they did, when Apex was released is was only a small amount of time before the Xian had the atgms patched out, this is because helicopters, especially the Kajman had balancing factors associated with the Atgms. Kajmans have to deal with poor maneuverability at high speeds, a poor power to weight ratio and being quite the target for AA rockets, but the ATGMs made it worth flying "the grave for two pilots".

Just to summarize, the wasp is a good addition to Arma 3, it was a long time coming for NATO to have a true AA fighter (Shooting 30mm tank busting rounds into an AA jet felt disgusting), but personally I believe that the server's meta with certain weapons on certain vehicles being disabled allows each vehicle to remain unique and become excellent when put in the right circumstances. Making the Wasp the dedicated CAS and AA jet would eliminate the enjoyment of using the slow, tank busting A-10 or the booming and zooming Neo, even the Atgms ruin the niche role that the Orca, blackfoot or Kajman play. Also, as mentioned by @Blue Eagle [+1 CREW] a 20mm cannon inst a sufficient caliber to be performing gun runs on Tigs, Main Battle tanks or other hard targets successfully.

Simply put the Wasp should remain or be an AA jet, have its atgms removed and is not sufficently armed to replace the Neo or the A-10. This also allows people who don't have the DLC to be able to still use jets, rather than being hit with a paywall on an integral part of the server, one which there are dedicated teamspeak channels to wait for a turn.

  10. 11 hours ago, Corporal Kerry said:

The new UCAV and jets are exciting, sure we are keeping the existing JTAC role and not using the full targeting pod capabilities, but they would still be useful. What do you think of this new content?

I am still worried about AAF, their CAS is not that good (Skalpel ATGMs and Bombs + 20mm) and this DLC could've gave them something like a Frogfoot, but they are getting another fighter.

  11. Hello

Of course there are existing mods that provide client-side changes such as JSRS and Quicksilver's mag repack, however I discovered a new client side mod that makes explosions in Arma 3 look better. Blastcore Phoenix 2 is a 32MB mod that enhances smoke and fire effects in Arma 3 and only requires CBA (1MB) to be on the server to function. Other users who do not have Blastcore will not be affected, similar to the effects of JSRS, while making the experience for those crashing in the heli's of (Shit) pilots more realistic.

On a serious note, this would be a neat addition to the server to make the Bergen-Special Purpose fest a bit more immersive.

    Cheers

  12. Hello,

I wish to know if any of you guys happen to know of any PC builders in the Melb Metro Area, since I am a major pussy I am leaning towards paying a fee to have someone else build it for me. The problem is that the systems they build (Scorptech,Mwave etc.) are often too flashy and overpriced. I just want to know if there are any builders that will offer to build a system for me if I source my own parts for the build.

  13. Any good meals that are low in sugar, have little to no carbs, no cow milk and are easy enough for a simple pleb like me to cook. I've been eating salad with some unsalted nuts and half a cup of brown rice and in need of some variety.

  14. Here you go, another donation of $25,

Thanks for not getting angry at all the times I do stupid shit on Invade and Annex.........

And trust me, I'm bug testing.....

    Anyway Thanks

P.S I haven't been assigned the forum group since my first donation ~8 months ago

  15. I suggest that some restrictions are made to reduce team killing

    - Digi camouflage uniform, vests and backpacks (AAF gear, excluding olive gear)

    - Hex  camouflage uniform, vests and backpacks (CSAT uniform is already banned, but bags are not)

I suggest that these restrictions are made to produce more well defined classes

    - .338 and 9.3mm Rifles to Marksman, Sharpshooters, Spotters (Stops the ghille, sniper-medics)

    - 12.7mm and .408 to Snipers ONLY (Prevents wastage of limited sniper slots)

    - Titan MPRL to AT specialists (Apparently anyone can use them)
