I actually enjoy the weather cycles, it inhibits long distance combat and visibility. And for people complaining of bad fps, I don't complain and I run at less than 25!

I think bluefor needs all it can get, unless the opfor vets swap teams for the Falcon. It is really on an individual basis of whos actually flying it. I know some opfor guys could wireguide an AT rocket into one from a k away or more. What I have noticed is that a lot of bluefor players tend to fly helicopters like planes, firing all their rockets in one salvo rather than individually and then ramming the heli into their target.

Hi all. I will be using this as my masterpost for the terrain suggestions I have for the server. I'll be uploading 'Presentation Posts' for the ideas I have about new terrain for the Wasteland map. These posts will focus on each different area such as towns, stores and well known locations, showcasing the ideas I have created in the Eden editor. I have the map file, but I don't want to upload it just yet as I am still refining on the ideas I have. Also I haven't figured out a way to do it without the workshop yet so if anyone has suggestions as to how to do that it'd be great :). Also these are specifically TERRAIN ideas only. I have no clue on script implementation yet so if the map file is eventually shared, it will be without script, just terrain to explore. Looking forwards to feedback and other terrain ideas. cheers (btw I'm not the map editor, just a player with ideas)

APOSTLES - SHORE BASE - ROCK SPIRES Hello again, another idea on the drawing board. This idea aims to bring players a bit more towards the shore by creating towering apostles for them to climb. I have created this one with slanting angles so there is not too much cover for players, but enough flat zones to shoot from. Players can run straight up from the bottom, circling around until they reach the top. These are easy to build and place and can be added inland as well. The height is about 100m or close to. These don't use up too many props and look very natural in the ocean. In this example I have also built a trail of rocks from the shore to the bottom of the spire, broken in places to make players build bridges. The width of the path can also be varied to allow enough room for a car or as small as making a player tip-toe about a ledge to get around. Again, feedback appreciated :). I'll be rolling out more ideas shortly.

Welcome to Achievement Rock. In my map, I have located this out in the bottom right corner of the map. Not too far out, but just visible from 1.6 kilometers out from the southern shore and *possibly visible to the Southern gun store (*if you have the render distance). The idea for this is to act as a line of sight breaker for mainly boats but also aircraft. Driving a boat out to missions is tedious, especially when most stores have a clear view of the ocean and are stocked to the brim with AT-launchers. This would also act as a possible base location, difficult to build on due to it's remote location, but a good storage place for crates and aircraft. It is built down to the ocean floor, so no floating rocks to ruin your immersion. There are two ways up, the arch side and the platform side. You cannot climb from the lower half to the top of the arch so players can assault it from a blindspot to the platforms. I have made it look as natural as possible and am quite pleased with the appearance. For those who dare, I have also placed a few similar arches around in the ocean, formations like these can also act as stunt areas for aircraft and it is sized to fit an A-10 (Wipeout), but just barely. Enjoy the slideshow, Shoot me some feedback :).

I've actually done the entire map XD. Recreated all the regular towns and areas. Every yellow mark on the map. I went along the entire coast and added some caves and hidden areas. Improved Rogain a tonne so theres less reason to stay there. Yes, much LESS reason to camp rogain. All the fucking time! Really I haven't done anything to rogain but the surrounding area got improved so Defending rogain will be more interesting. I really should have just filled it full of canal walls and made it impassable. The competition platform is just an idea I had that might be more easily added to the server. Still in the works, and a bit barren at the moment. I'll add some more pics of some new areas I've come up with soon. For the trolls attacking the platform part, yeah that'll just have to be dealt with on a 'when it happens' basis. But people should be less likely to attack it if admin is hosting something there. Anyway thanks for the feedback :).

Hi all. I wanted to post up some terrain ideas for the wasteland map. This idea is about having an event area for the server. Out in a corner of the map, this floating platform would be a competition area, reachable by boat, amphibious vehicle or helicopter. With one to three different arenas an admin could host close quarters competitions or players could host games themselves on the platform. The area would act as a kind of neutral zone ('we won't kill you if we win' XD); players not in the arenas can observe from a tower down on to the competitors and make bets ect (player interaction).

Different icons to tell which mines are which would definitely reduce friendly kills. I think most simply can't discern between for instance a charge and a bouncing-betty until they are already standing on it. Additionally players from games with no friendly-fire will actively run over friendly mines. Two different icons are needed I think. One for friendly charges (which don't detonate when you run over them) and one for mines. Also I think players just are not educated about them. They try sneaking past mines thinking they are far enough away and I just have to sit and wait for the inevitable call for revive. 5 meters people! 5 meter no-step-zone around mines! Perhaps placing a circle around the mines radius, but then you're depending on game assets that may or may not be big enough.

4 restarts and we got a deal. You know how much I love my building unit. I think however a server cleaning script might work better. Alerts players to a clear and then deletes any items on the ground. How that may be scripted I haven't the slightest clue. I put it down to the hundreds of items laying about on the ground. People run into the stores and leave magazines everywhere, dead players drop kits, guns laying about, cans of beans and water bottles along with the nefarious brief case strewn all across Stratis. Basically whenever you kill another player, your adding to the lag. Simple solution is: don't kill anyone :3!

1.5k start is perfectly fine. You can gear up entirely from the general store with that. Vest, uniform, helmet, carry-all. In fact reducing it might even be a bit better too. Get people to rekit more often and upgrade their armor instead of buying the top of the market first thing. 1.25k would make players drop an item to a lower grade to fully kit and make things a bit more interesting.

Different weather conditions create different shooting conditions. If there were no fog, I'd imagine the server would become a sniper-rocket-fest (at super long distances). I like the weather the way it is. It keeps things varied and not static. Additionally the day/night cycle must stay. Non-negotiable. Not that hard to buy a NV scope or fire with iron-sights. That also creates different shooting conditions and in the instance of counter sniping, players can then use lasers to point out enemy locations. Night time tends to be when all the close quarters combat happens.

I would increase the number of punish hits. My kit is based on landmines so I'm not just placing them at the stores, but all over the map. I've been hit with a punish every now and again either by new players who don't know or trolls who do it intentionally and let me say, IT SUCKS. Especially when mining a hot-spot like Rogain, where there are always players running in circles, one of them (look'in at you Unit :3) is bound to run over ALL of your mines. 2 days ago I placed 20+ mines around Rogain and nearly all were detonated by friendlies which left me in a rush out of cover into sniper fire to revive idiots who might punish me if I left them. Its good fun when you stop a base from being taken just by having an effective minefield but I'd rather not be running to a dead, tunnel-visioned, blind to a GIANT-RED-TRIANGLE Noob before they expire and hit the punish button. Removing the punish option gets a yes, but I think increasing the number of hits would be better as trolls still need to be stopped. I've had my kit stolen by players (via punish) who have placed mines to intentionally kill friendlies afterwards. So if it can still be used to troll and if people catch on to it, they will.

Using the FOB for this would be great. It's already set up like a regular HQ, with vehicles and other services. It would give a better reason to use and maintain them. If the defense is lost, the radar services are lost for a time penalty before the FOB can be re-activated and set up again. It would make it much more useful as at current, people tend to avoid it unless it's right next to the AO. The pilots will activate the radar and after that the place is abandoned unless an fsg team decides to set up there and not closer to the ao.

I think for the server having such a large player number, usually filling all slots with people waiting to join, imposing restrictions upon players for something non essential like a tank, as AT soldiers, alamut carriers and riflemen in general can perform all the same tasks, might garner a negative opinion from the rest of the player base. A tank is essentially just a bullet proof box when you have 20 other people performing the same task however un-coordinated they may be. Adding an additional place for reserve vehicles accessible for white-listed players would be the better option. The carpark usually goes empty when the AO is close enough so demmand for armor by the majority of players is very high.

It is quite unclear how to activate vehicle respawns. I have asked a lot of pilots and most don't seem to know how to either (I think it might be the hemtt box truck as it really has no other purpose). Also often the FOB is nowhere near the objective and most of the time is not used because of that or ticket supply takes a while (However players tend not to respawn so often unless it is a defense mission anyway). Due to how long it takes to set one up fully, it seems to be less useful than it could be (AO is usually 1/2 to 3/4 complete). But I'm not sure how to fix that without making it too easy either. The only bug I have noticed is that players get marked as purple on the map instead of blue when they spawn at an FOB.

Logged a day ago with 6.3 million on Wasteland server. Logout was fine, no problems or connection issues (But throughout the day the server had been suffering badly with player dumping, lag, and crashing). I have connected again tonight and found my player seems to have been reset. Did not respawn or do anything during loading, it just came up at the respawn screen. I have attached the most recent screenshot I had, about half an hour before logout. If any admins could give me a hand with this that'd be great :).
