Too much effort not worth said effort because why make Ur own subpar game running your own shit when you can just mod on a perfect game that has already been designed?

You can optimise the scripting language so it is more streamlined and more efficient and fast (c++ or c#), balance out the cpu usage, gpu usage and memory usage, improve graphics (DX12) and physics. You could add terrain destruction or whatever you want. Also the sense of accomplishment of making a functioning game.

Probs a decent gain cause it would be in a language that can way faster than SQF.

unreal engine seems pretty good (which is what identity is being made on).

Not as well as if it were on Arma 4, simply because Arma already has a reputation and a playerbase.

@Connor. Would you think of making something like this after StrayaLife is completed?

  3. After quick google search, I found out how to make a basic game on unity.

    Then I got curious:

    • What performance gains would Altis Life have if it were its own standalone game (much like DayZ)?
    • What game engine would you use to create the game? (For avid developers)
    • How do you think the community would react to it? (For everyone)

What is your opinion on this and would you support it?

  4. @Granteus Im pretty sure everyone doesn't own either this:

Arma 3, as most of us know is a very CPU heavy game.

    Just saying:

    Turn your View distance down.

doesn't improve performance on a potato computer or any budget computer. Not only would dynamic weather be detrimental to Player FPS (@Lotza) but also will take up valuable server compute resources, which wouldn't help with the frequent server crashes.

The more things you add that are aesthetic to a mission file that doesn't need to be there just decreases stability overall. Whether it be unnoticable or not. Until good CPU's become cheaper on the mainstream, everyone will still have these issues with games that are CPU intensive. Arma isn't a singleplayer game where you make it look its best all the time, its a coop game that when you play it, the communities around it make it look as good as it can be.

some of the things you have said in your post are a bit iffy, you are parkticaly asking for bank not to be bank anymore a big park of it is the time to respond banks and feds are ment to take a long time and are ment to be hard. and your also asking for gd to roll arround with 7.62 and 9.3mm. mate your cops need to work on thier tactics getting out of your hunters when surround by rebels isnt a good idear, or going off by your self and getting killed. yes thier maybe some unbalced play but you can reduce the gap

More or so returning to the old system of patrolling with 6.5's and helmets.

  6. So over the past week I was overseas in Singapore for the first time :D, which im pretty happy about since I got a GTX 1060 from my reliatives over there for my birthday. The airport (Changi) - IS ******* AMAZING!!!! It has a pool on the roof of terminal 3 (I think), Kinetic Rain (this display which has large droplets of a solid connected via wires to a ceiling, which move - which is cool), shops as far as the eye can see - too many bloody shops selling watches. That concludes the airport for the moment,

Next comes the city, which I can define as a "Concrete Jungle" - as no matter which way you look, you'll see series of skyscrapers in the sky. T only way you can get around this concrete jungle is by cab, bus or this thing called MRT (most likely mass rapid transport or something - correct me if im wrong. Also at a hotel called Marina Bay Sands (google it - its sorta cool) you could see all the way to the strait that seperates Singapore from Malaysia, A forest in a dome (Cloud Forest) and the Pierce Reservoirs - which are just a bit out from the city, these 3 are all really good places to visit while there.

And as per usual I was lazy and didnt take any photos there, but I did take some on the plane of the welcoming Aussie sunrise, which was pretty nice:
