  1. Hey All,
As you will all know, the judicial system and the laws have seen very little light and work over the past months. In these past few months, the system has become very unused and almost to the point its non-existent. There have been a few times that it has been attempted to be revived and reworked, but unfortunately it again took a backseat to some of the other work going on.
We have recently finished work on part of the project that will be going into the Judicial and legal system, this being the Altis Life Laws.
The laws will be a part of the judicial system and will be an outline of the behavior that may be deemed as illegal by the courts, note that this is independent to the police ticketing system.
You will be able to read them here

  2. One of the benefits of the server wipe would that it allows us to reshape and mold the server to fit our vision and the communities vision more so than it currently does.
The whole thing is simply conceptual at this current point in time and no definitive decisions have been made to whether we proceed or not, what we would be changing on the server and how we would do things moving forwards.
You can expect to see large changes in the economy, with items more accurately representing their use and a more accurate scaling in terms of effectiveness of items to their pricing.
This would also apply to things such as runs.
I also understand that there is a concern that if we were to reset the server economy there would be an imbalance in the favor of the police side.
There are no definitive decisions on how to address this at the current point in time. However I can assure you measures would be put in place to address this and create a smoother transition and beginning to all players on the server.

  3. Hey Everyone,

Following the community meeting a couple of weeks ago and the recent forum post we have been giving consideration to the idea of an economy wipe. So now we wish to gauge the opinion of everyone  by putting this poll to the community as a whole and giving everyone an opportunity to vote on it.
If we were to wipe the economy, it would be a full wipe, inclusive of licenses, money, proficiency, houses, inventories, lockers and vehicles. You can also rest assured that we will not be making any changes to white listing levels of police or medic.
Currently we do not have a timeframe for the wipe as we wanted to look into the impact and pros/cons very carefully before a decision is made, subsequently it will likely not occur for a while.
If we were to go ahead with the wipe, you can also expect to see some changes to the balance of the server and economy.

  4. Hey All,

As some of you have noticed or pointed out, the StrayaLife area on the forums has been removed. As many have also speculated, the project has also been cancelled and development has ceased for the mission.

We’ve had to do this for a couple of reasons, first being @Connor.'s health. For those who don’t know, Connor has been in poor health for quite some time but in the later months of last year his condition deteriorated further. This has made it rather difficult to finish the mission file in a reasonable time frame and to the quality that we were striving for. The second reason is the focus of the mission StrayaLife was going to have a stronger focus on role play. Over time we have observed a clear desire from players for more combat oriented game play over decent role play, so we feel the final product of StrayaLife may not have been to most players taste.

This does not mean however that all the work for StrayaLife will go to waste, the features that have been completed already can be ported over to Altis Life. One of the features intended for StrayaLife, a HD texture mod, is currently in development to be implemented into Altis Life. This will be an optional mod on the workshop that allows you to download and use full HD textures instead of the compressed textures in the mission file..

Moving forward, the development focus will shift back to Altis Life so let us know what you would like to see. We are looking at your suggestions to help us spend our time on what matters to you.

  5. Hey Mate,
As there was an update to JSRS, we now need to update a few things on the server.
At next restart we should have the fix implemented and there will be no more kicks for JSRS.
At this point in time we recommend not connecting with JSRS enabled as you will likely be automatically banned,
We have been lifting them as they come up, if for some reason you were missed when we have been doing this, please contact myself or @Connor. on TS.

  6. Hey All,

We have some new rules and rule trials coming into play tomorrow.
The purpose will be to clear some misunderstandings and fix up some issues around a few areas of the server.
These will be coming into effect on the 13/4/18 at the 3PM AEST restart.

    Added:
5.10 - If you are outside city limits you cannot declare on any players that are within city limits.
5.10.1 - If a player flees into city limits during a declaration you may follow them and continue the engagement
5.10.2 - If you follow a player in during declaration using rebel gear, you may not start a new declaration until you leave city limits.
5.10.3 - After concluding a situation pursing a player into city limits in rebel gear, you must immediately make all attempts to leave city limits.
5.10.4 - If a declaration is initiated by a player inside city limits where both parties are inside city limits, rebel gear may not be brought into city limits.
9.10 - If you disconnect for any reason during a bank, you cannot return and engage in the situation.

    Modified:
2.8 - Rebels may not enter city limits with any Rebel gear or vehicles without a valid RP reason. This is inclusive of armoured apparel (IE vests and helmets) and weapons.

  7. In the last community meeting a point was brought up regarding the way the Sydney Safezone currently works.
It was discussed to bring the Sydney Safezone back to how it used to be,
For those who may not be fully aware, it only used to cover the Sydney market, Car Garage, Air Garage, Sydney PD, Sydney Hospital and the Casino.
In this post, I would like to see some reasons for and against any changes you would like to see to this system.
If you would like it changed to how it was please give reasons for and/or against this, the same with leaving it the same or expanding it.
I am also open to completely new idea's as to how we can manage the SZ.
As it stands, people believe the way it is setup currently to be related directly to a few issues that are currently going around the Sydney Area.

  8. Only 10 people in it, so why not give it a shot?

    DLC:
    Tanks

    Why?:
The upcoming tanks DLC looks to be adding some interesting additions into the game.
Whilst I do spend a fair amount of time on AL, it would also enhance the gameplay and time I do spend on other servers, namely I&A and WL, with a bit of KOTH thrown in here and there. Tac-ops and Jets aren't really a huge standout for me, helicopters may get rid of the annoying DLC pop-ups, but I've learnt to live with them and just avoid using the Taru or the Huron.

When you say knock out does this extend to tasers and knockdowns for police?

No, they are to be treated as always were. I am strictly referring to the Shift+G knockout action.

On 3/6/2018 at 9:23 PM, nclem said:

So just to clarify, restraining someone for the purpose of ticketing does NOT create a declaration?

    That is what it says.
2.9.1 - Police are exempt from this rule when checking licenses or ticketing.

On 3/6/2018 at 8:34 PM, Wex said:

A concern I have for this rule change is that the knocking out feature can be used in roleplay without starting a formal declaration. An example would be if one player insults the other, they might retaliate with a knockout to "teach them a lesson".

If this is the case I'm sure the players can have some form of mutual agreement not to treat it as a declaration or instantly begin shooting at each other.
I understand it can be used in an RP scenario as such, just use some common sense really.

As @Mitch mentioned to myself, why not change the rule to "Ziptying"

    Police can't ziptie, they handcuff/restrain.

Well to start people would be complaining its a bias rule.
It also doesn't help clarify the rules in all situations, and will lead to situations similar to the reason this rule is being put in.
If you are ticketing or checking licenses, just say that is what you are doing and release restraints after.

  10. Hey All,

We are going to be implementing a new rule to try and simplify declarations and restraining and knocking players out.
This is to try prevent issues again in the future in regards to this.
The second change is the re-implementation of the rule 9.9
These rules will be in effect as of the 7/3/18 at the 3:00pm server restart.

9.9 - After the detonation of the Federal Reserve Vault, neither party (Rebel or Police) may have any additional people join in to the active robbery.

2.9 - You must declare on a person before you can restrain or knock them out
2.9.1 - Police are exempt from this rule when checking licenses or ticketing.
2.9.2 - Police are not required to declare on rebels in city limits when doing this however it will start a declaration between both parties.

  11. Hey Mate,

Making sirens a declaration poses a few different issues.
    1. It would allow players another method to bait cops into a declaration to kill them.
    2. We would likely see an increase it gunfights between cops and civ
    3. People may misinterpret and kill cops thinking they are in dec and it would be deemed RDM.
    4. Sirens are also very glitchy, you may think they are on when they're not, or the other party may not hear them

Cops shouldn't be tazing you the moment you get out of your vehicle unless they have already declared on you.
They should allow you a chance to get out, holster your weapon (If you have one) and then talk to you or whatever they need to be doing.
It should not be an instant taze/restrain because you have been in a small pursuit for doing 20KM/H over the speed limit.

  12. Hey All,

As some of you may have already heard and/or noticed, we have made some changes to the way gang bases operate.
Gang bases will no longer be obtained in the classic way of purchasing them (in game money).
Instead the way to acquire a gang base will now be via gang wars.
There will also be unique benefits added in relation to owning each individual gang base.
Only Cartels and Rebel gangs will be able to participate in these wars.
Each gang will have access to a weapon store available only to them.
The following are the perks of each gang base:

Gang Base 1 - Gang Base Store
    - Vehicle Garage
    - Rebel Vehicle Store
    - ATM
    - Rebel Clothing
    - Rebel Market
    (With cartel equivalents)

Gang Base 2 - Gang Base Store
    - Vehicle Garage
    - ATM
    - Rebel Clothing
    - Rebel Market
    - Drug processors
    (With Cartel Equivalents)

Gang Base 3 - Gang Base Store
    - Vehicle Garage
    - Air Garage
    - Gang Base Vehicle Store
    - ATM
    - Rebel Clothing
    - Rebel Market
    (With Cartel Equivalents)

How will gang bases be acquired for the first round.
Its pretty simple, The first two gangs to lay a claim on a gang base will enter a war to claim the base.
The rules for the war and win conditions will be set out by a staff member who is watching over the war.
Each war may differ in how it is operated and the maximum amount of gang members for one side will be 15.
Balancing may be made by staff to ensure a fair fight.

  13. In regards to the Judicial System.
This is a system that has been on the backburner for quite a while now.
The system really only seems to be used by the APD for obtaining warrants, yes we've had a court case here and there, but nothing to really show a regular use.
So, its not something that has been a huge focus for myself or staff as the system works as it is for the purposes it does currently.
Would I like to see it changed and updated, yes. Do I have time spare in between everything else, not really.
If you have any suggestions, propositions, etc that you would like to make, I'd be glad to hear them.
But in terms of dedicating time and resources to it atm, I'd need to see some more use and reason to do so.

  14. @LachlanM Instead of tagging me in something less than 24 hours essentially trying to force me to reply, how about learning a little bit of patience and waiting till I actually get on and read it again. I saw this post originally about half hour after it was posted.

We are already looking into ways to try make Sydney a more RP orientated zone. @Red has given us the suggestion of modifying how the SZ's are set out inside City limits, which is something you may see in the future. We are also making some changes to put more of an emphasis on rebel v rebel conflicts, which should hopefully move things away from city limits leaving the area open for the civilians and cops.
I don't see a reason to add a rule preventing civs from deccing on cops, We will just get complaints that its unbalanced, unfair, cop bias, etc etc.
Its not an issue with the way the server is run, the issue lies in the way the game is played.
Everyone just wants to get in there, have some fun, for a lot of people, they find that fun in shooting at other players, which as a result interferes with chances to RP.
Cops just want to get a bounty for the money? No, thats not always the case, yes it happens on the occasion. Why does a simple traffic stop have to turn into an all out pursuit or a gunfight? Why can't a medic do some RP when they revive people instead of just instantly leaving or the player running off? I can put rules in to try and stop this, but all that happens is people will get in trouble and the problem will still persist.
If you really want to see change, don't go complaining to staff about this and that, look at yourselves and try starting an RP scenario, don't pull any guns, no need for zipties, just talk the situation out. The more people that do this, the more RP you will see. As a civ, approach a cop and have a chat, if you get pulled over for a speeding fine, yield and RP it out, it's likely just a ticket, you co-operated, you might just get a warning.

Is this rule intended to mend that issue by allowing them to enter city limits with the contractor gear if approved?

Yes, this rule is intended to clear up that rule and any issues regarding it.
It allows contractors to use approved gear in city limits at time where it is approved to be used.

So you can now rob civs anywhere in SYD and not just in like 3 spots.. praise the lord, it was annoying always checking if you were 50m away from a safe zone.

As mentioned by @Axle_Tiaky, we had reasons both for keeping and removing the rule. However after discussion, it seemed to be a root of some other issues. As such, we have decided to remove the rule. If issues arise from this decision, we can always revert it, however I do not foresee that happening at the present moment in time.

HEY! I got a idea, Lets update something the Police NEVER use! Police Checkpoints! Oowww I cant wait to drive past this!

As @Zorgain has said, it is never used due to rebels or other gangs using it as their own checkpoint, camping it or declaring on the police trying to man the checkpoint.
By redesigning it and moving it into city limits, we are hoping to reduce these issues and create a location that the police can actually take advantage of, does not look like its a military fortification and that may be properly used for RP.

  16. To put it simply,
Adding any new weapons to the game requires a mod.
We have no intentions on adding any mods to the AL server and wish to leave it completely vanilla.
I would imagine we use the same model on StrayaLife as well.
The only way we would add a shotgun is as a script, I'm not aware of any scripts that can do this and any reliable ones at that. Also would it be worth making out own script to do it and how well would it work?
The way I see it, there is no feasible way at current we can add a shotgun without adding a mod, what benefit would there really be to doing it?
