Hey guys this is going to be a big post with a fair bit of detail. I'd appreciate instead of just reading the comments and the post itself if you could interact with it in some way (i.e. leaving a comment or just doing a react) so the staff know that people are looking for changes/updates to the AL server (you don't necessarily have to agree with this post but the react shows to staff that people want changes). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Updates for Civ & Cop: - Make banks provide half the payout that they currently do as this would encourage more civs to do runs of substances rather then rely on banks for payouts (also makes tapping and running less viable. - Remove the rotation for banks and allow a mass amount of banks on to the map (This would give more options to civ for bank raids and also make it harder for APD to anticipate the upcoming bank raid with drones or PolAir following ifrits places and with the half payout from the first suggestion it would mean that if the APD lost a bank more often it wouldn't hurt as much) - Remove the city limit rules from Sydney as this would make SYD ratting less viable as it just becomes another part of the map and doesn't require a constant APD presence. Updates for Civ: - Make it so you can have saved kits that you can repurchase if you have the correct money amount on you at rebel (makes people hang around rebels safezone less and puts more people out in the world). - Make the first spawn city for civs Adelaide (there isn't APD there and this would stop SYD ratting because they feed off the police and it protects the newbies because it is a safezone area where they can earn a bit of money in peace (Glass) before going into the wide world). - Conduct a mass unban of players who've either committed minor offences such as not giving enough time between a dec and killing the person (at least they dec'd) and duping (as I believe all the duping glitches have been patched out). - Create more Cap points around the map as this would mean that one gang can't just control the entrance to KOS island and monopolize the caps away from smaller gang (maybe even fold some of the Gang Hideouts into cap points as well so they become doubly valuable forcing more rebs to move around the map) - Increase max money for the grinders - Implement a bounty system for civs who've got contractor. This would create more gang on gang pvp as one gang would try to kill the bounty of another gang (if the reward is worth-while) and this would also work toward mitigating the money wastage on civs for kits. Updates for Cop: - Make it so Det & SRT can go out on ops as soon as there is more than 6 GD cops on (ie if there is 7 cops on and 2 of the 7 are Det then only one of the Dets are allowed on ops until another GD unit gets on or another div member joins afterwards meaning they take up their rotation of GD allowing the div members who've been on longer to go out on ops) - Move the main APD base away from SYD to Melbourne. This would make SYD rats even less viable as they tend to feed off the APD and always getting into fights with them. This would force the SYD rats to go global meaning there will be more Reb interaction out in the world. This would also make PolAir a much more useful tool than it currently is as a PolAir division based at Melbourne is able to access all parts of the map quiet easily. - Morph the CO role into someone who assigns areas of the map to GD units and pairs officers appropriately rather than someone who is made to take charge of every situation in SYD. This would still mean that it is all APD units responsibility to respond to banks still and a CO is still assigned for that bank. - Create patrol zones for GD unites (i.e. from Agios to Melbourne for one unit, Sydney to Agios for another). This would potentially make highway patrol training more viable and spread the APD out for more RP and PVP rather than bunch them all together in SYD market and have them watch the SYD rats kill and spike strip each-other. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lets try and get some more realistic requests going as well gang. Hello gamer's, Since crafting is back (thanks), I have to ask, the price's of house's vary in sizes (500-750k for a small, like 2 mill for a double? Don't know the exact prices), yet the inventory sizes are the same, I was wondering if we could have more storage in the bigger houses as that makes more sense? Otherwise there's no point in spending more money on a bigger house whilst you can buy a cheaper smaller house that holds the exact same amount as Y inventory storage xx Also could the Go Karts PLEASE come back, I know a lot of players who have genuinely left the server (NSWP White Person) just because Go-karts were removed, people raced/RP'd at the go-kart track etc. -Houses have more storage the bigger/more expensive it is -Go-karts to make an appearance back to the server Cheers

Welcome all, most of you have probably seen me in game before, but here I am making my first appearance on the forums. Now to the subject at hand, Wasteland now has a new version 1.4 with added features and fixes listed below. [Added] - Laws of War DLC [Added] - Killfeed HUD [Added] - Para drop System [Added] - Bounty System [Added] - New Mission types [Changed] - Improved revive system [Changed] - Improved kill attribution [Changed] - Improved antihack [Fixed] - Prone reload freeze [Fixed] - Many minor changes and fixes [Fixed] - Eating and Drinking animations I've spoken to @Unit_3397 @Dak Commstar & @James32 about updating to the newest version and all are totally on board with this, so expect some changes to come in the following weeks. Now I'd like to know if you as a community would like to see these updates on Stratis or on Malden, I know many of you really enjoy Stratis because it is a really great map but my concern was the new bounty system and how that would play out on such a small map like Stratis. Also the Para drop system allows you to call in supply crates after a particular time (Lets say every 30 minutes) these supply crates will most likely cost more then the shop for obvious reasons, also vehicles can be dropped too and would clearly be much more expensive then buying from the store. Below I'll list a pros and cons for the two maps. Stratis Pros - Better performance due to less buildings and simulated objects on the map - Easier to get around and get to stores - Allows for more custom towns and buildings (at the cost of performance) Cons - The map can feel a little to small sometimes, often times spawning beside other players and getting killed - Missions finished rather quickly when on high population, the smaller map size reduces the time needed to gear and get to a mission - Little to no base building imo due to map size (I could be wrong on this and people just don't like building bases) Malden Pros - Bigger map allows for a more dynamic game - More options for base building and hiding crates (something people rarely do now) - A better map for Jets and people on the ground allowing Jets more freedom (Dog fights) and units more safety on the ground due to the map being bigger - Map size and elevation allows for a more long term game, with setting up plans and stockpiles (something I seen a lot more when we had Malden) Cons - More of a performance hit due to more buildings and simulated objects (we might have a fix for removing objects not needed therefore allowing a bigger fps boost) - Not much room for building custom towns and areas (not really need imo) - Feels rather big when there are <20 people online I would love to hear everyone opinion on this topic, and try to think of it in a long term sense as a lot of work goes into swapping maps and updating the base Wasteland. Hello Engineers. The Server has been reset by the looks. Fortunately through the magic of Blueprinting, the SG crew have rebuild the Server Hub station and are working on a new project. The implementation of mods is being looked into and hopefully that will be worked out soon. Until then, continue to build, drop landers and remember to blueprint your ships. Blueprinting will help in the event of another server reset, allowing an admin to restore all your progress with a single click.

Hi gang, Lately I have been playing on a few different servers, and had been seeing how they do different sorts of things to us. This is more of a wish list than a real expectation but I just thought it might start discussion on ways we could step out of the current paradigms. > Firstly, changes to the FOB. I won't go into detail here, as there is already a good discussion going on in the forums here. > Secondly, and I know this goes against what people are used to; getting rid of the CAS jets and UAV, or greatly reducing their ability. I have now played on a few servers where the Jets have a very limited role. What seems to be the case here, is that there is more reliance on both armour and teamwork by the troops in the field and the chopper pilots. Without the Jets and UAV bombing the entire IO to smithereens within minutes, the advancements of the troops is slower and the choice of LZ becomes more critical. I have even seen it quite often on our server when we have low population and no one in the Jets. There are a few ways you can go about this: You can extend the respawn time to much longer than what it is currently. You can greatly reduce the fuel of the CAS Jets. You can reduce the arsenal on the CAS Jets & UAV. Personally, I find it a lot more exciting this way. The fear of enemy armour makes for more intense engagements and totally different strategies to what we currently use. Some of the most heart thumping moments in ARMA that I have experienced come from being the underdog. Now I understand that this is a public server, we have to make it "for everyone", but I don't think that this idea excludes that philosophy. > I'd love to see our base moved from the main airfield to one of the others. E.g. the Northeast one. The reasoning for this is we are an invading force, not a defending one. The enemy should control the main bulk of the land mass and its primary areas. To this end, you could even have our current airbase heavily defended by the enemy, making a dangerous area to be near and any missions in or around it would be quite difficult. > Failing the above, I'd like to see some cosmetic changes made to our base. Move our spawn points to the buildings and hangers to the north in a military area of the airfield. And preferably have our spawn points inside the buildings. (Near where we currently have the side mission area or alternately up near Ironsides.) Have multiple AA defence systems at either end of the field. Having it in the centre doesn't make too much sense. Have two bobcats (or vehicles like them) available. One that stays at the air base to do repairs and cleanup, the other to go out in the field. (Maybe spawn at the FOB). The one at base would simply de-spawn when taken outside the radius of the base so that one will always remain there for the uses of cleaning up the base. I understand that none of the above will probably come to fruition, because I also know how hard it can be to change things in Arma. And what a big undertaking it would be to do so. I'm just putting this here to open up ideas and maybe change the way we think about I&A as a game mode. I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank all of those working on this game. As somebody who has programmed on it in the past, I understand how difficult it can be. So again, my thanks.

WASTELAND 2.0.0 ANNOUNCEMENT “The world as we have created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking.” ― Albert Einstein Greetings everyone, I was going to wait until the day of it's release to announce this and have it be a surprise however due to the large amount of discussion surrounding the issue (see this thread: https://strayagaming.com.au/forums/topic/14049-stratis-vs-malden/) I have decided to announce the update now, in advance of it's release and give you all a rough run down of our big news! First of all and most excitingly update 2.0.0 will mark our transition to Malden as our server's map. This has been in development for around a week now and is now complete! Long story short we have designed and built a Wasteland map for Malden which we will be deploying on our server on the map's official release date, wed/thurs next week! For your viewing pleasure some images to give you a taste of our new map This new map has been built specifically for strayagaming wasteland and as such we should be one of the first wasteland servers to be on the new map! Some Gameplay images: Other Notes, Along with the switch to Malden there will be an associated gameplay update rolled onto the same patch aimed to adjust the economy (both price changes and modifications to some mission rewards) along with a handful of bugfixes and other small additions (full patch-notes will be released when it goes live next week). Developing Malden in such a short time-span has however delayed our next larger gameplay patch slightly, however it is on it's way and should be released in around ~3-4weeks baring anything unexpected coming up. However I'm certain that until then that the new map will keep you all more than occupied What this all will entail (the cons), To avoid inconsistencies involving the coordinates of players and vehicles transfering over when we switch to the new map, as well as ensuring a more even starting field when we go live with the patch I will be wiping on hand money/gear and force saved vehicles. This means that if you wish to keep your gear you should store it, you should also bank all your on hand money and park any vehicles you wish to keep before the day the switch over is due to happen. Please note: This will not effect stored vehicles, stored items or bank money, only vehicles out on the map and on hand gear/money. Furthermore due to the experimental nature of the new map/ WL build we are unsure how well it will suit wasteland yet. As such we will trial the map for a couple of weeks to gauge it's suitability, we will then decide whether or not we will keep using Malden permanently or either switch back to Stratis, or put the maps on a rotating schedule This new map is also quite likely to have a bug or two considering how rapidly it was put together along with the fact that the Wasteland version of the map was built from the ground up, As such there may be the odd issue with the map that I was unaware of, so please bare with me, and if you encounter any bugs or map issues please let me know so I can fix them ASAP A Sidenote, As a part of improving our server and development cycle I would like to encourage the community to engage more with the process and help us understand what you feel is working and what isn't, and what your thoughts are on the direction on the server and how it could be improved! We aim to make the server as fun and fair for everyone as possible! (Please note however that I offer no guarantees any individual suggestion will be implemented, however I can assure you that we will read any and every suggestion and give them fair consideration!)
