5 pointsSo I've been apart of the community for multiple years now and i consider myself a pretty well known individual in the community. I've played all aspects of Altis life. I've been here through the highs of the server maxing out, to the lows of there lucky to be 15 players on at peak hours, I've seen staff come and go. For quite some time now I've noticed the growing mistreatment of rebels and the favouring for police, not only from staff but the direction the game is being pushed towards, Earlier last year when the server hit its low and the police force crashed, new protocols were set in place to give the police an unfair advantage on the outnumbering rebel gangs, but now the server is back to its max capacity but with very few rebels gangs actually existing actively on the server meanwhile the cops still have access to their Hunter HMG's, Ghosthawks, etc. The average player size of the gangs on altis life is 5-6, to the few reading this that have actually fought cops in a 7vs20+ situation will know how overpowered it is.They use any chance of pulling a hunter HMG (which only takes 4 striders or a ghosthawk which only takes 2 MMG's), as well as having an abundance of weapons to their advantage like teargas and flashbangs. I left my position in the police force because I wasn't enjoying it at the time. I found the force had a dog eat dog vibe to it, with players snaking each other to try give themselves advantages on getting promotions, which i wanted nothing to do with. I've recently played a little bit of cop and have found its exactly the same as when I left, CO's snaking other players to try and stand out to higher ups, teamwork rarely exists and its seems to be a 'who can scream loudest' competition in the channel. From a rebels prospective, I don't see anything that would appeal to gangs starting up as the chance of them actually contesting a bank or a fed are slim to none. I think a major change in attitude from staffing is required and rebel activity should be encouraged. I know i personally lost my trial moderator position as I supposedly favoured my gang members, but thats another story for another day, While I had my position in staff, I seen multiple situations on which I didnt think was very fair and I spoke up on them to soon be told to "Worry about your own issues" by an admin. Aobe members banned for 12 hours for combat logging but a Senior support member who is also a cop combat logs and he gets a warning. Don't get my wrong I'm grateful for the hardwork that goes into running the server and I have seen plenty of good from these same people. But I feel like its finally time for change, People favouring their friends for positions or picking people they personally like instead of picking what is good for the wellness of the server. Remember this is just 1 players opinion and everyone is entitled to one, happy to have a discussion below if people think I'm being unreasonable or if other players agree, let me know :) Thanks for taking the time to read.

5 pointsThere needs to be more civilian/rebel Moderators to defend civs seeming as all mods that play on the server are cops/medics it can get quite biased.

5 pointsI think the meta in the title is meant to refer to the fact that it is a meta discussion, not anything to do with metagaming

4 pointsI don't see many people denying that cops are overpowered at this current stage. The problem is trying to find a way to balance it. Last time the server tried to find a fix, cops were extremely under powered and rebels were winning banks/feds 90% of the times even when outnumbered with them losing barely any players. It was unfair to the point where cops were forced to not respond to banks because it would go against the value your life rule. The main arguments people are bringing up is cops having access to hunter hmgs/ghosthawks. A total of 6 people have access to these vehicles. 2 of which are active in game during the holiday period. The only time I've seen HMGs/Ghosthawks being pulled out is when SRT is called to clean up Sydney. Sure you get them pulled for a bank/fed once in a while but it's very rare. Things like being outnumbered, cops having an abundance of gear and armoured vehicles are valid points. We're trying to fix this problem, we've put limits on what gear SRT can bring out. We're trying our best to prevent every single cop from responding to banks. If you have any suggestions on how to balance it out, please suggest them instead of complaining about how cops are overpowered. There's a few reasons why there might be a large number of cops. A) It's the holidays. B) "If you can't beat them, join them" mentality. C) Lack of Content for Civs. D) People find more enjoyment playing Cop than Civ. Some of this is out of our control and it doesn't help when we only have one developer doing all the work. Instead of trying to find a balance between cop and rebel. I think it's probably better to focus on rebel vs rebel. That way, players are only restricted to how much money they have and not what faction they're in. When a gang is well established, then they can take on the cops. For the time being, we're trying to make it as fair as possible by updating the protocols. Just a few days ago I've restricted what cops can do during house raids to prevent cops from taking everything you've worked hard for. I've made a few suggestions on civ vs civ here: https://strayagaming.com.au/topic/17081-a-bigger-focus-on-civ-vs-civ/ There are some cops who prefer to roleplay and there are some who prefers being in combat. It becomes very annoying to those who would rather roleplay but is forced to get into a combat situation every 10 minutes. The idea of a better focus on civ vs civ would ease the pressure on cops, allowing them a bigger window to have their fun and civs can also have their fun instead of trying to fight cops all the time. Something that I suggested as a temporary solution is to increase the money you get from Westpac/Brisbane or make it relative to the number of cops online. When the risk outweighs the reward, it's a serious issue. Rebels should be getting 5-10 mill from banks if there's 7 of them fighting against 20-30 cops. Distributing 1-2m between 7 players is pointless. This would also motivate rebels to grab more players to rob banks so that they can secure the reward instead of just doing it for the kills.

3 pointsName: John Corleone Callsign: Don't have one Date of Disciplinary Action: 22nd of November What Disciplinary Action was placed against you: Demotion and blacklist Who were you Disciplined by: Mitch and Smokey Reason for Disciplinary Action against you: Throwing a civ in water and disrespecting cabinet Why the appeal should be accepted: So I understand that my last blacklist appeal was denied and my blacklist appeal date move a month forward for reasons that made no sense but like I said in my previous appeal I understand that what I did was wrong when I threw the civilian in the water I understand that what I said was wrong and that I should of waited a day or two before coming back to talk to cabinet but with my time of the server and cop I've changed and would like to come back to the cop force. Any other information: No

3 pointsI mean lets face it this post is going to get absolutely destroyed because it has to words in it Cops and Meta Game, Yes Apollo makes some extremely valid points in this and yes a lot of people have made these posts time and time again but maybe these post are here for a reason. The only people who are opposing these post are one of the two people A. Cops (a given) or B. Civs/players who have little to no interactions with cops on the opposing end. so in conclusion ive kept this short cause i know for a fact that no one will read a heaps long post on this topic and i am almost positive that half the people who comment on this post wont even read the actually post, so yes Apollo i couldn't agree more and just maybe someone will finally realize that they are actually op as ****

2 pointsI am 50/50 when it comes to this, you guys would always expect I would be bias to cops as I generally only play cop but I do agree with some points the rebel side has made in this post. The pulling out of HMG/Ghosthawks I do not agree agree with purely because I have played A LOT in the past month and a half and have seen a hunter HMG called once and that was to clean up Sydney. When attending banks generally there is about 14-16 cops on at most times, 4 of these people will be public slots and upto 4 of these people will be prob. constables on their 1 week trial. That is 8 out of the 14 or 16 players who don't even have a lethal firearm let alone a 6.5/7.62 to combat the average weapon of a rebel which is 6.5-Navid, the unbalance comes when there is 25-30 cops online and the 8 on non-lethals doesn't even matter anymore because you have an abundance of cops with 6.5+ and most likely you will be vsing SRT with guns similar to the rebels. As a rebel I don't see you winning in most of those situations at this stage I don't have a solution to it but I can suggest that before any changes are made wait until 14th of February(ish) when everyone's back at school the server population will decrease especially the cops. An issue I have noticed that I am probably guilty of myself is the fact if cops commit a crime they will only charge the civilian, an example is vehicle manslaughter where there is a vehicle accident and someone in the cop car dies the cop instantly will arrest/blame the civilian regardless if it was the cops fault, I personally had to speak to a moderator about two cops power gaming and arresting myself for a vehicle accident that was their fault as I couldn't roleplay with these cops as they would over power any RP that I did and try to speed up the processing.. luckily the moderator stepped in before any jail sentance was put in place but if I was a full time civilian and this happened on the daily I would be furious. Axle/Dj are more civilian mods then cop mods, but I completely agree if someone in support or higher rank in the community(such as cop rank) combat logs/breaks in game rules they should be punished more then your average joe. The favoring is a HUGE issue in the cop force currently but unfortunately its not controllable by anyone but the highest of the highest. I like these two suggestions as long as we don't have more civilians coming into sydney with striders just to **** around, and I don't think you should be able to buy these armored vehicles from contracter.. only from rebel. The ratio I think something similar to that would work but would only include blue shirts.

2 pointsSad that its come to this for people to realize how over powered cops really are
-
2 points+1 cops are just insanely over-powered these days, out numbering rebels, out gunning and way more amoured vehicles than the rebels can ever acquire, needs to be changed because the staff team most of the time is also biased towards the cops.

1 pointI honestly miss having competition with banks/feds, don't get me wrong by no means am I the best player but every bank is pretty much won by cops now. Hopefully StrayLife brings back the abundance of rebel gangs. (Probably doesn't help that all the really good rebel players are permanently community banned and have moved to cop due to this)

1 pointThis is one of those age old discussions that has so many valid points/arguments for both sides. Whilst I am not going to bias my opinion on either side, I feel as if i would have to agree with you (Apollo). Over the past few days I have noticed (by playing as a rebel) that when in combat with the police it is that extra bit difficult to come out on top in many scenarios, not just with banks but also within city limits and built up areas. I'm sure that eventually change may happen but, I would not like to see change within just the police side of things but rather both factions.

1 point+1 Don't think any rebel gang starting up will want to vs 20+ cops all in hunters driving around. Legit no way to win a bank unless you use Navids or Striders but then they bring ghost hawks or HMG's. As Apollo has stated the cop force was built when they were getting destroyed everyday now the cop gets 20+ players a day and there is a small amount of rebel gangs. Even with the max cops online they still don't respond to things like gas station robbery's & Police Checkpoint take overs something needs to change.

1 pointThese new changes will be in effect on 15/10/2017. Have a read on what is going to happen. The Altis Police Department has decided to implement Age Restrictions on those who wish to join. The Age Limit will be 15. This Age Limit will not be strict, we would like to give everyone a chance to play as a cop however will be making it more difficult for new applicants. If you are underaged and have applied for cop, you will have to undergo an interview with selected members of the Command Team and Academy before being whitelisted. This interview will be a judge of character and maturity. Anyone caught lying in their application will be blacklisted off cop for a month and will not be able to apply for 2 months. We would like everyone to be honest when applying. In addition, we are going to be a lot harsher on those who are immature or disruptive. This applies to players of all ages, not just those underaged. Every single cop represents the entire APD and by doing so you represent the server. If anyone does anything to defame the APD or the server, intentionally or not, they will be dealt with harshly. We currently have a zero tolerance for pub slots, anyone who doesn't follow simple instructions will be kicked off and possibly blacklisted until they appeal. If people are serious about cop they will do their best not to mess around and follow simple instructions. There is a high demand for cop, pubslots who take an excess amount of times getting on teamspeak or do not have teamspeak setup will be kicked to open up a slot for someone else.

0 pointsWhat the hell has happened ever since myself and mozkelby retired. Seriously, it has come to this. Fellow staff members abusing their powers (ya mum) no surprise there. Always felt a bit fishy about him. Shocked that the population is like this now.
