I've been on a few different servers as well lately, seeing how they operate. The CAS thing is mostly the same on the ones I've seen; they aren't allowed to kill everything/must be called in. Don't know what their jet loadouts are like though. Although there's ones without any restrictions and I've even seen one server where there's 10 pilot slots, 5 for CAS . Then, on the other end of the spectrum, there's Quik's US Tanoa server which has a single whitelisted CAS slot and stricter ROE. Their ROE states that every request must be typed in Side chat by infantry near the objective/target. They aren't free to engage AA targets either, only other jets. These two ROE changes look like a good idea to me. I'm going to play around with the frequency of enemy jet spawns so the friendly one/s have something to do instead of flying around in circles. I think per-AO CAS jet spawn is fine/long enough. The AA jet spawns more frequently obviously, but that's useless against ground targets. Active UAV limit will be reduced to 1 from 2. Not too keen on changing the base location. Airfield-only Bobcat and other changes I just mentioned will be added within 24 hours

.............................................................................................................................................................. Name: Mr Miller Callsign: O13W Date of Disciplinary Action: 09/08/2017 What Disciplinary Action was placed against you: Demotion to constable Who were you Disciplined by: Mitch Reason for Disciplinary Action against you: So what happen was myself, bang and other cop were in PD reading up to go on GD when i was going to pull a helicopter out to do some detective work, as i was driving towards the helicopter pad bang was driving back toward the gate when he turned the corner and we had a little head on collision but because of arma physics bang vehicle blew up and my car was badly damaged. [ Video which was used against me, but in the video it does not show how the crash/ explosion happened Why the appeal should be accepted: I understand action are action and at the moment the cop force is not going 100% so you are cracking down on stuff but someone should not be demoted from a rank they worked really hard for just over a little car accident in PD which resulted in no deaths or damage to fiance or anything. in the situation no one was affected by the incidence. Any other information: I would like it if Mitch does not respond to this as for he was apart of the demotion decision and i would like to hear it from someone else. ..............................................................................................................................................................

Perhaps a nice little thing which would make going to the FOB better would be once the FOB is activated, have the typical AI squads and equipment spawn there to make it feel alive. It's kinda weird when you go to the FOB when an AO is right near and there's just no one and nothing there - makes it a bit dead

Good suggestions. Was hoping for feedback from a few more players though. Keep in mind that most of the changes chosen to be implemented are going to be fairly low-priority compared to some other things being worked on at the moment. Also, this stuff is all subject to trial & error. I don't know what's going to be the best way to have the FOBs or not unless I try it and players give me feedback. If I don't get feedback on things that are changed, I can only assume there's no issues with it. Yes. Probably. Possibly a Medevac HQ instead of Huron medical though. Yes, or something similar. Yes, needs to be easier to get it up and running. Might not end up working exactly like that, but definitely something similar. Yes, but adding this would be low priority. In the meantime, I think I can add just regular leaderboard (P) score. Currently two fire teams can spawn and assault the FOB but they have no AT or AA capabilities. Mainly because it can be annoying/unexpected. Maybe once the FOB is improved, I can change it up a bit, but for now it will stay as is. Maybe. This would be good. I will probably add a Medevac building like the one at main base.

I'd like to propose a set of changes and additions to the current FOB system in order to make it a bit more player friendly and usable. I'd like to get as much feedback and input on this as i can. Under the current system, spawning at an FOB has too few advantages. To make it more interesting and spawning at the FOB a viable option i would propose these changes: Have spawning at the FOB enabled by default Add an arsenal crate and a Huron Medical crate to the FOB Change vehicle spawns to: 1x HEMTT medical, 2x Hunter and 1x Offroad There are also several changes to the way FOBs are activated and supplied that will keep the hastle of using the FOB to a minimum To fully set up the FOB, it will only take two trucks, with one additional truck for adding more spawn tickets The first truck will enable player spawning(+25 spawn tickets), vehicle spawns and player ammo and medical services. (This truck would be the already present HEMTT Box) The second will enable vehicle ammo, repair and fuel services. (This truck would be any of the vehicle service trucks (Fuel, Ammo, Repair) or the Bobcat CRV if it's on hand) The third truck will deliver a number of spawn tickets(25 probably) to the FOB each time it is delivered (This truck will be a HEMTT Transport or Medical) Also, to go with these changes i think the addition of an FOB leaderboard would go a long way, with players getting points on it for activating and supplying the FOB. I would greatly appreciate any and all input you have aswell as further suggestion. @Fitz@InfamousNova@Tracuer

Hi gang, Lately I have been playing on a few different servers, and had been seeing how they do different sorts of things to us. This is more of a wish list than a real expectation but I just thought it might start discussion on ways we could step out of the current paradigms. > Firstly, changes to the FOB. I won't go into detail here, as there is already a good discussion going on in the forums here. > Secondly, and I know this goes against what people are used to; getting rid of the CAS jets and UAV, or greatly reducing their ability. I have now played on a few servers where the Jets have a very limited role. What seems to be the case here, is that there is more reliance on both armour and teamwork by the troops in the field and the chopper pilots. Without the Jets and UAV bombing the entire IO to smithereens within minutes, the advancements of the troops is slower and the choice of LZ becomes more critical. I have even seen it quite often on our server when we have low population and no one in the Jets. There are a few ways you can go about this: You can extend the respawn time to much longer than what it is currently. You can greatly reduce the fuel of the CAS Jets. You can reduce the arsenal on the CAS Jets & UAV. Personally, I find it a lot more exciting this way. The fear of enemy armour makes for more intense engagements and totally different strategies to what we currently use. Some of the most heart thumping moments in ARMA that I have experienced come from being the underdog. Now I understand that this is a public server, we have to make it "for everyone", but I don't think that this idea excludes that philosophy. > I'd love to see our base moved from the main airfield to one of the others. E.g. the Northeast one. The reasoning for this is we are an invading force, not a defending one. The enemy should control the main bulk of the land mass and its primary areas. To this end, you could even have our current airbase heavily defended by the enemy, making a dangerous area to be near and any missions in or around it would be quite difficult. > Failing the above, I'd like to see some cosmetic changes made to our base. Move our spawn points to the buildings and hangers to the north in a military area of the airfield. And preferably have our spawn points inside the buildings. (Near where we currently have the side mission area or alternately up near Ironsides.) Have multiple AA defence systems at either end of the field. Having it in the centre doesn't make too much sense. Have two bobcats (or vehicles like them) available. One that stays at the air base to do repairs and cleanup, the other to go out in the field. (Maybe spawn at the FOB). The one at base would simply de-spawn when taken outside the radius of the base so that one will always remain there for the uses of cleaning up the base. I understand that none of the above will probably come to fruition, because I also know how hard it can be to change things in Arma. And what a big undertaking it would be to do so. I'm just putting this here to open up ideas and maybe change the way we think about I&A as a game mode. I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank all of those working on this game. As somebody who has programmed on it in the past, I understand how difficult it can be. So again, my thanks.

I cannot be bothered quoting all the different comments here, so here's my TL;DR response to the above: Nova, I agree Smokey's posts are a bit difficult to read, but try approaching that topic with a little more tact and you'll find people more receptive. Smokey, try taking on board that people will read and respect your opinions more if they're well-written. It's human nature. Brodie, I wasn't on the SG Rust server for long before it died but I do recall your work on it. I recall the issue with Rust was the constant updates to keep the server current, and I believe an absence of staff caused that to drop behind and most of the player-base departed shortly after. I was one of the first on the Rusted Outback server, but it also had near zero players and the Admin/Mod allowed a friend to use his account and he trolled us. Killed the fun for me. Smokey, your comment about 'taking over gaming' in Australia in relation to our name is just not realistic. We want StrayaGaming to be successful, not take everything over. Fitz/Nova, I'm likely to agree with you that the market for Rust servers is saturated with established servers and the game itself is too long in the tooth to start one up ourselves. I also agree we should be looking to new(er) games where possible otherwise we're trying to cut into establish player-bases and that risks conflict with other communities which we may not need. Tagging the above here because I'm laze: @InfamousNova, @Fitz, @Brodie and Smokey (**** trying to find the character code for that star to link this properly). TL;DR - Rust might not be the best server to start up at this stage after all, and more than one of the posts above breaks Wheaton's Law. Try to play nice boys .

9/08/17 Changes: FOB - When activated, the following will happen: Arsenal box spawns. Respawn services are enabled and 16 revive tickets are given. Spawning at the FOB is enabled for everyone, so long as they've died within a certain distance of an objective or the FOB itself. 10/8 5pm - Vehicle Respawn services are enabled as well. Added airfield-only Bobcat. If it leaves the airfield, it will kick the crew out and respawn itself. Frequency of enemy jet spawns increased. Maximum active UAVs (Greyhawk/UCAV) reduced to 1. Removed Advanced Sling Loading mod.

im seeing he AA being taken out quickly as a skill of pilots increasing over time. used to be a hassle alot. not they have gotten the skills to take care of the AA quickly. some with coordination form ground. but also. can't discount some people my have armour near the AO already when it changes. there fore allowing armour some activity and clearing out the AA threats. (Note this is about AA threats alone on my experience and what i've seen recently)

i know these are suggestions an what not but gonna give my opinions on it. not saying you're wrong or anything its just what i want. as you well know its against the rules to just rape an ao with the jet but it does get a little annoying when you get to the ao and the UAV op and jet pilot have destroyed a lot of the armor. well the respawn timer is per ao which i think is fair enough. the fuel thing. eh i think its fine reducing the arsenal on the jet is what sounds good. we are already looking at this and i believe we can do this quite easily. perhaps a Neophron with just unguided missiles/rockets. so removing the GBU's. adding the buzzard into the cas rotation since its quite slow. the wipeout again with just unguided rockets. problem is is that the other airfields are too small for what we have. plus having the base at say the north east airfield its like 5-10 min flight in a helicopter to get to an ao at the other side of the map like kavala. which people have complained about in the past. im guessing you have been playing ahoy world? i like where our base is. i just think the side base for a main base its too small. the ironside spawn could work yes this needs to happen on the list of things to do

I agree snafu cheetah. Coz patrol squad would get rekt real quick

Another thing I just thought of to make a FOB viable is to maybe have some AI AA there. Whether it's in the form of a cheetah or an AI AA squad. This could create a safety corridor for incoming pilots, and a fallback safe zone for the armor. It would also be good to protect the armor limping back to the fob for repairs & rearm. I agree with @decibel_spl that the place is a graveyard. The AA & maybe even a patrol squad (AI) would be cool.

Knowing full well the risk of dragging this on further than it might be worth, I feel as though there is something to be said about the nature of I&A and how Zeus players interact with it and the players that worship them. I&A is a walled sandbox, a place where you can go out and do what you please so long as you adhere to the rules designed to keep the sand soft for everyone. It's a simple scenario that repeats over and over again, subjecting players to the same 'go to this place and complete this objective' narrative, day in and night out, that does some things very well, and others not so much. Those that have put the hours in will know that for a quick session after work or on a planned event with the lads, the variety provided by the side missions, rewards and defences drive a satisfaction that can, at times, prove to be really damn fun. However, as hours turn to days and days into weeks, the limited experience that I&A is able to provide begins to show. A lot of us, me included, are fine with this; with the same ol' I&A (and by extension Arma 3) experience, the same ol' AO and the same ol' Side Missions. We are fine with the mediocre pilots, the inhuman aim of the AI and the chance of getting team killed simply because someone didn't take one extra second out of their day to check the colour of our clothes. We deal with it, we click that damn 'wait for a medic' button and hope that things turn out better next time. Why? Because when they do, it all becomes worth it. Storming a mountain range with 40 other people, watching friendly tank rounds flying overhead and hearing the sound of that sweet, sweet BRRRRRRRRRRRRT in the distance is one of the straight coolest experiences I have had with any video game ever. I've never really been one for drugs, but Goddamn if it isn't addictive. I love posts like this, I really do. It's good to see people expressing what they dislike about what they want for, and I can, in fact, agree with some of the concerns raised. The use of Zeus has picked up quite a bit, from not really being used that much at all to being a daily sight to see. Sometimes, yes, a few too many enemies might get spawned in, leaving a feeling of hopelessness in their wake. However, to err is human, mistakes will, inevitably, be made. When Zeus is used correctly and missions go smoothly, the impact that it can have on the afternoons' session can be exemplary, both to those that have seen more AOs than they probably should have and to those that are seeing I&A for the first time. In my opinion, the risk of unintentional gameplay woes will always sit in the shadow of what can be done with some unusually creative variety on behalf of Zeus players. The more variety, the better. Additionally, AL is trash ;)

Just wanting to rant because I'm so ****ed off and upset at the moment I'm shacking. I expect this to be deleted before to long so am not expecting a reply or any response but I want to get this off my chest to help calm down, and give my 10 cents. Soo Ive been flying people back and forth to the AO and Side missions for the past 3 hours no problems players are nice and understanding. ok I'm not the fastest to land but 95% of the time I do land safety and at least I don't need auto hover to do it. In and out nice and smooth is my moto. Then what happens the AO is moved 11km away from the base and all of sudden all hell breaks loose and its all my fault that I'm not fast enough in the Hummingbird and that I shouldn't be using it and that I'm an A-hole and don't respect other players who are not pilots who want to fly it. Forget the 3 hours of flying the same heli with only 2 or 3 crashes / deaths and until the AO moved no one else wanted it or had a problem with my flying. Forget that I'm landing exactly where you the passenger are wanting to go (or very close). Forget that I get shot up or that I manage to dodge most of the incoming fire to get you as close as I can and forget that I have to sit there sometimes being shot at why I wait for you to press the "v" key when ur asleep. Ok so I get that there is only of 6 pilot slots and that only 3 of us are doing transport atm and as a passenger you have been waiting. But why the **** are you yelling and abusing me for shouldn't you be yelling at those that are not taking you to the AO. Rather then abuse those that are!!! Steam tells me ive played Arma for 151 hours so not a newbie but most certainly not an 'old hand'. Most of that as a ground trooper and nearly all that time on the Straya Invade and Annex server which is y I donate and its been great fun but I don't know of I should keep playing. Ive never experienced such hate for someone that was doing his best and trying to help as I did tonight and ive played alot of online games over the years. Shit look at the transport leaderboard and you will see my score is 100 points up on the next in line so I cant be as shit as people are saying. Ok ive been called a dick, a ****in asshole etc etc lots of time before hell I'm ex army so I'm use to being yelled at but the intensity of hate I was being yelled at tonight was beyond anything ive experenced. Right now I don't think ill ever be back, and if I am I'm even less sure it will be on a Straya server I don't expect a response, I'm just wanting to say it out loud Ps. I want to thank jake-_-Stones920[straya] for trying to calm down one of the players

You asked for this. I think you meant to say "I got very pissed off at what I perceived to be the incorrect usage of Zeus on the server." We don't determine what is correct use of Zeus on the I&A server, the server staff do. I recommend you adjust your thinking. Server staff use Zeus to run missions outside of normal I&A objectives to keep the experiences unique and interesting on the server and avoid it becoming a repetitive and stale experience which will likely drive away players. This change in circumstances adds to the excitement of the server, especially when the opposing forces deviate from the normal rules of engagement we're used to. I personally enjoy when this occurs as it requires new thinking to deal with, and is akin to the opposing forces changing the battlefield parameters. If you wanted a standardised experience maybe a Single Player campaign or scenario is better suited for you. Refer to points above, sometimes an opposing force will throw significant forces into an operation to change the odds in their favour. It doesn't happen that often, when staff take the time to Zeus in opposing units and ramp up the difficulty in the server we should appreciate it because it became more difficult. Server staff will use Zeus on the server as their time allows. I think it would reduce the amount of Zeus activity on the server if a minimum player count was enforced and it should be at the server staff's discretion. I disagree. You don't have to 'fix' something that isn't broken. Adding this extra effort to server staff using Zeus on the server will likely lead to a reduction in staff wanting to do so, which would be a disappointing outcome. Server staff spawn in units with Zeus to influence the battle. This would make that action largely ineffective. Again, sometimes opposing forces don't play by the rules. Learn to adapt. I would counter that you consider scaling your expectations of server staff to your preferred difficulty level. Again, you asked for this. TL;DR - May Zeus forever punish your butthole for your insolence, git gud or switch to Altis Life scrub.
