5 pointsPre wipe days were the best, there was always something happening. I remember there always being 70+ civs on when I came on, and the way the server is now with pop is really sad to see. There were always fights going on, people actually had something other than a mk1 back then, you had people with zafs, navids, asps, lynxs, mk1s and others. The economy wipe created a meta where it was just mk1 vs mk1, and that made combat get stale really quickly. I see their slowly making gang bases better with adding mk200s, I remember the gang base I had whitelisting to in pre wipe had zafs, mk200s, asps and more and it was heaps good, but for too long the new gang bases were basically just another rebel outpost and they weren't really worth paying and fighting for. Making gang bases what they were would be a step in the right direction imo, cause then rebels will actually want to own a GB and then will enjoy combat more because they will have easier access to these bigger guns without having to spend hours crafting or going to KOS store. Old uranium would be good to have back as well, I heard that it was OP but it was high risk high reward and it brought players in and there was more combat. Changing that back to the way it was would also be a step in the right direction, as rebel gear is not cheap and having a high risk high reward way to make tons of cash while having combat is a good aspect that the server had and that should come back. I don't know how people feel about the new capture point and how its a KOS shop, but personally I think it was better up at the top left hand corner of the map, because with uranium and its high reward, players could then take that cash to another place on the map and buy better weaponry, it would just be another area for combat to occur, but that's just my imo on it. These are things I think should be changed and obviously theres more but these are my main points, but zeds got the right idea about how straya should be its own server and ect, straya was great the way it was pre wipe , and it should add back everything that we lost with that economy wipe.

4 points@Turbanator Orrrrrrrr.... you can stick to I&A and we can stick to AL? No disrespect to you, I don't know you but the fact that you decided to come into an AL discussion and poach some players has reinforced my initial decision to stay as far away from I&A as possible. We are trying to better our community, try not to get in the way of that please.

3 pointsi mean pre wipe was great if you were in the best gangs like aci and aow but the bad ones like omega just meant you got slapped and had to send pics to suzzi

3 pointsYou're still trying to compare Straya to other servers. It's not worth it, it's better to just build upon what Straya is already known for. We had a good system and a lot of pop back in the day and that was for a reason. Straya AL is not a strict roleplay server with custom addons, it's a place for people to come on and have some fun. Those people who want a strict roleplay server can go find one. Also, "shooty shooty" is what makes AL fun and nobody can ever or will ever change that. That is the reason why people play video games after all am I right? to have fun, and potentially do things that they wouldn't be able to in real life. Everyone can go and pick some apples or talk to people in real life. However, not everybody can go and join a rebel gang and drive in armoured vehicles looking for people to rob and shoot at. It's exciting and it's what draws people to altis life. I guess what I'm really trying to say is, people are diverse. No two people want the same thing and no two server is exactly the same. Straya should stop trying to copy the style of any other server and instead build their own. If I am being completely honest, we already had our own unique identity and presence in the arma 3 community pre wipe but for some reason people wanted the server to become more like olympus and the server started to die. Both rebels and cops (from what I can see) agree that the idea to try and 'become another server' was a bad one and it would be best to revert to how things used to be. You're right, eventually arma 3 will die out and slowly but surely it is happening. However, I'm sure I speak for most people when I say that the best possible outcome would be for staff to revert things to the way they were and let the server die out in peace as StrayaGaming Altis Life, not Olympus.

2 pointsHello everybody, as you have probably been made aware by the title, I am going to take the time today to give my input into what I believe the server needs in order to draw back old players and gain new ones. The information I am going to produce in this 'letter' (if you will) has been sourced from my own in game experiences as well as recent discord discussions involving current and active players as well as management and development staff. The first issue that I feel I should comment on is the recent comparison between Olympus and Straya, specifically the guns portion of it. One thing people need to understand is that straya is.. or at least WAS a unique altis life server. It had it's own set of rules and regulations that differed it from the likes of Olympus and even direct competitors like darkside. Straya was straya because it gave players the opportunity to use bigger and better weaponry but at the same time made said weaponry relatively hard to obtain. Anybody who says that it's not fun to use a navid and spray people down like Johnny Sins standing in front of Madison Ivy is lying. Obviously being obliterated by a 9.3mm LMG is not fun, but it gives dedicated players the incentive to put in effort and grind to obtain the same weaponry so that they aren't humiliated again. Also, it's unfortunate but Straya just isn't capable of competing with Olympus.. period. The US servers have so many more players which makes it nearly impossible to get similar numbers. That's why instead of trying to copy Olympus' style, straya should try to become unique again by adding those weapons back in. The second issue I would like to touch on is the fact that legal runs (rather than illegal runs) are now more profitable for both rebels and civilians. Yes, gems do give players a reason to get on and grind for many hours and yes that does increase population. But it's ****ing boring. Nobody actually wants to sit there for hours clicking windows key to get a bit of fake currency just to go to the same old fight at capture points. Nobody. Instead, people want diversity. There is always going to be a meta, and people will quickly learn what that meta is and start to follow it. However, the current meta needs to change and I will tell you why. Fun. That's the reason. People want to have fun, and I hate to break it to you but not many people are having fun at the moment. Having gang fights at illegal dealer was fun. Yes, uranium was the most overused run for REBELS because rebels were the only people who could afford the risk of doing a uranium run. That's how it should be. Civilians should not be able to make as much money as rebels, plain and simple. Just like in the real world Jimmy from down the street isn't making as much money as Pablo Escobar, but at the same time Jimmy isn't risking death or arrest. This idea may be referred to as being 'unfair' or 'biased' against civs but it's important to understand the definition of civilian in regards to Altis Life. Civs are those people who don't wish to part take in gang or rebel activities but at the same time don't wish to be apart of the EMS or APD. Why on earth does somebody who fits that description need more money than a rebel who needs to purchase equipment and gear as a means of survival. Think about it. Next, I want to talk about the economy. As I tried to explain in that last paragraph, uranium and drug runs should be a rebel or cartel members highest source of income. It should be the activity that dedicated and active players attempt to complete in order to attain large amounts of money. The only issue with this is the exact amount of money that can be made from each run. I am not sure exactly how the economy stands at the moment because I am just coming back from a much needed 'vacation' but I will say that Uranium in it's prime was way too easy. I don't have stats but it was the only run that people were doing because it was the best run BY FAR. I personally believe that Uranium should be the best and most profitable run, but it should also be the highest risk run. A high risk, high reward system is essential in creating a balanced economy. Uranium should be the highest risk but also the highest reward, followed by drug runs and then obviously gem runs for civilians. Besides pricing, nothing needs to change. Uranium can be sold at illegal dealer which is a KOS zone and therefore numbers and firepower is needed to secure each run, drugs must be processed and then sold which can be camped at all times by anybody and then gem runs will be the same as drug runs but obviously it will be less likely that somebody is camping those because most if not all rebels (ie the people who would usually camp) will be camping the higher profit runs like illegal and drug dealer. Maybe discuss prices with the community team, as far as I'm aware the community team has a good understanding of the server and can assist in getting prices right. Those are the main issues I see at the moment. The content is there, capture points ARE fun fights but all we need is a bit of diversity. Illegal dealer can bring that diversity. If you don't agree with what I am saying please comment and let me know, if you do then please like this post and hopefully management will see it. Thanks for reading and have a great day.

2 points@Red Back when the economy was overflowing with cash though that is an extreme example, people didn't have to worry about making money. So gangs had to come up with ways of enjoying themselves. Issue is now that for people to do that they need to do hours of boring grinding to get shot & killed and lose what they worked for. We need as much to do as possible in my opinion and if that means filling the server back with cash and new enjoyable guns. That would be pretty ?

1 pointThe server has more content than it used to. The real issue is back then we had around 4 big gangs rolling around a along with cops. These gangs all won fights and all lost fights, some more than others obviously. My point is back then there was variety in who you fought and variety in the outcome. This is something that recently the server has been lacking. One of the biggest issues is the skill gap on the server between the best gang and gangs just starting out. Before the wipe people were bad by current standards because over the past year since the wipe the people who have stuck around have gotten a lot better. Basically the skill gap has widened which means new players and gangs have to spend longer improving to get to the level of the top gangs and most of them get destroyed over and over again and give up. This is why there are less gangs and rebels because as older players stop playing there are less and less new players to replace them.

1 pointNot only does this totally miss the point of the discussion and make you look like a shill for the event, it makes the staff team overall look bad. Basically what you’ve (a staff member) just done is told us (people who have aired legitimate complaints about the server in a constructive manner) to join a different server. Now this is what we in the industry may call “Big Brain Time” I’m sure that many of the Altis life players will join another server, probably not a straya one though. On another relevant note I’ve noticed a trend of staff shutting down discussions by locking them when critical of the server after one or two community members bring the discussion off topic, as opposed to hiding the relevant off topic posts.

(50 Words min) I believe I deserve a promotion to the rank of Seargent due to the amount of time and dedication I put towards the APD. Whilst being a Senior Constable I have dedicated a lot of my time to helping new players when it comes to needing their trading done or when they have questions on the APD protocols. I believe as a Senior Constable I have proven that I would be a very valuable asset to the APD as a seargent when it comes to operations or banks as I would be able to pull out Hunters for other officers aswell as setup drones to give intel about the situation. All these reasons I have stated make my believe I deserve a promotion to the rank of Seargent. Who would recommend you for a promotion? @Bill Props @China @Citric @hugot
