Invade & Annex Piloting Handbook As there has been much discussion about common topics and a general lack of core piloting concepts, here is a short handbook for newer and less experienced pilots to reference: Piloting 101: Primarily, the role of a pilot on the Straya-Gaming I&A server is to support the infantry in a number of ways including but not limited to: providing timely transportation of players and vehicles; logistical support including rearming, resupply, refuel, ammo drops, etc; and providing C.A.S by use of armed helicopters. To fulfil these roles successfully you must adhere to some rules of piloting first, which can be found on the map screen (under rules > aviation). The most important rule is all pilots must be on the SG Teamspeak server while flying. The Teamspeak IP is: ts.straya.life. Once on the server, you must join the appropriate channel: Invade & Annex > Transport/Air Defence/CAS > Altis or Tanoa (depending on which server). (Side note: you may be in the channel muted, but not deafened) The purpose of using Teamspeak is to enable clear and proper communication among pilots, appropriate to the game. Pilots have priority in this channel, and chatter in the channel must reflect this (We see far too often the chatter be off topic and piloting communication is handicapped). Communication: When piloting on the server, effective communication allows all pilots to have the best experience while playing. Effective communication includes notifications and warnings of: Pad usage, Probable collisions, Runway crossing, and Traffic. Pad Usage: There are 3 helipads for infantry transportation purposes. They are numbered as follows: 1-3, SW to NE (alternatively, when looking at the spawn point from the runways, 1-3 left to right). There is also a medical pad marked with a Cross – this is not to be used a helipad and only when transporting wounded, POWs, HVTs, etc. There is also a service pad to the south of the helipads. Pilots must communicate when landing, taking off, or moving to and from the helipads. To prevent collisions and create a uniform system, pilots must (when entering the base) ingress parallel to the runways and cross over the grass area where the crates are. If there are no helipads available, a pilot must land or hover above the grass until a pad is free. Collisions/Traffic: To prevent collisions, pilots must communicate when: They are passing another chopper at close proximity, there is a high chance of a collision Runways: There are 2 runways (effectively 4) and their naming convention is as follows: The bearing your nose is facing when on the runway, is the name of the runway – left and right is then derived from that. For example when exiting the plane service heading SW, those runways are called 22 left and right (pronounced two two, not twenty two). Helicopters are recommended to enter the base parallel to these and must communicate when crossing the runways. General Aviation: Helicopter pilots have the following aircraft available to them: x1 Hummingbird (aka little bird), x2 Ghost Hawks, x1 Mohawk, x1 Huron/Taru, x1 Vehicle Transport Blackfish, x1 Infantry Transport Blackfish/Xian. There is also one pad that has a rotation of a Ghost Hawk, Orca or Hellcat (aka Lynx); Pilots are expected to be able to fly the majority of these - if you do not know how to fly a certain aircraft, DO NOT attempt to (especially the Blackfish as these have a 15 minute respawn timer). After the completion of an AO, pilots are expected to extract the players from the area and move them to the next AO or back to base. As a courtesy to other pilots, if you are flying a high capacity aircraft let smaller aircraft extract first so as to not hog all the action. Again as a courtesy, if there are already an appropriate number of choppers at an extraction point, do not go there yourself. When transporting players to the AOs, you gain transport points: these can be viewed by pressing Home > Leaderboards > Transporters. These transport points serve as a score and the top 3 after every week (They reset at 00:00 AEST on Mondays) gain access to the whitelist pilot slot for the next week. At base, there is one heavy lift chopper available – this helicopter can be used to transport vehicles that can’t be transported by smaller choppers, or the crates that spawn on the grass. These crates have multiple purposes: They can be used to service vehicles in the field, or to be transported to the FOB for logistical support (click on the FOB to see what crates still need to be transported there).

Thanks to some generous donations from @Bang1324 we have the opportunity to upgrade our hardware to the newest generation gear! All services will be moving from i7 6700k's to i7 7700k's, and from Windows Server 2012 R2 to Windows Server 2019. (I'm on the hunt for some i9 9900k servers as well, but the pickings are slim in Australia) We have received some competitive pricing from a new provider, I'm going to trial them until our yearly lease is up for the current servers; towards the end of this month. I'm moving CQC over at the moment, Wasteland and I&A 2 (Tanoa) will join shortly after. To properly test out the new hardware I would really like to have a large number of players on one of the servers for an event. I've requested the I&A team setup a fun event for one of the Tanoa T-Days, so it will be good to see a lot of people there. There might be some steam gift cards for the best players on the day. Once the testing is done I will need to decide on which provider to go with and when we do the final move. The server with Altis Life and Invade and Annex is our primary server, it is a massive pain to move everything cleanly so there will probably be an extended outage for all services reliant on that server.

Well done Snohman, that was a great op. ? Pity i didn't record it. ? I enjoyed doing support, recon and ground pounding with @Jayb , @bonob and the others. Although some complained ? about not having the support, I didn't know that ammo could be loaded from the APCs and that was their function till later in the game. (Doh!) But anyway they should have made a request for the apcs to be in a position to do this, before moving. ? But other then that, It was a great op. I would like another one of these tank missions, and I'll run support again. ?

Hey Everyone, Today I am advising everyone of several changes/additions to the community, across various services which are being rolled out following this post. Changes to our main discord New Categories Upon joining the server users will now get the ARMA3 tag, this allows them to see into all of our ARMA3 categories. (They will be hidden if they don't have a role now.) Users can then remove this role and add themselves to each servers role (e.g '?role Altis Life' to see the AL channels). This is the give users some control over what categories they want to be a part of and which ones they don't. Primary Servers will be setup as an Opt Out system, with additional secondary games/areas of interest setup to be Opt-In. We will keep an updated list of the possible games/roles that have discussion channels in the discord. Currently it is relatively minimal and only includes existing games that we have on the discord, but we are always willing to expand it. If you have any suggestions, let us know. Community Contributors Management and Lead staff have decided on the first batch of community contributors and will be handing the ranks out in the next few days. If you need a refresher on the Community Contributors, see the community update posted by @M9' here: https://strayagaming.com/topic/20766-november-2018-community-updates/ Congratulations to our list of community contributors, decided on based on past/current contributions before this point If you are on this list please contact a member of the management team to receive your tags: Persona (I&A Guides) Kev (Community Podcasts) Chadd (Community Podcasts) Bouda (Made significant contributions to improving the server and worked with staff extensively to represent civillian interests) Nevetos (provided a significant amount of documents and maintains support documents) Ryan King (Made the Rubio staff tool for us) Other Discord Servers We have quite a few Discord servers that various factions and groups on Altis Life use, they are all public and we encourage Altis Life players that are interested to join them. Here is a complete list along with invites to each. Primary Discord: discord.straya.life AL Police Discord: discord.straya.life/apd Gang Discord: discord.straya.life/gangs Medic Discord: discord.straya.life/ems Judicial System Discord: discord.straya.life/judicial Altis Life Veteran Today marks the addition of our new Altis Life Veteran tag. This will work similar to the other servers within StrayaGaming with the requirements for the Altis Life Veteran being listed below. If you believe you meet these requirements please contact the AL Manager and provide your playerID, Teamspeak ID and link your forum account. Your eligibility will then be reviewed and you will receive notification of the decision. Requirements: Have never been Community Banned or Staff Banned for any period of time. Changes to Some Staff ranks and Responsibilities Discipline, Punishment & Appeals Policy Senior Moderators and Administrators can authorise bans for up to 3 Months, they must acquire approval from the Management team for any ban above 90 days (3 Months). Additionally, Senior Moderators and Administrators can place indefinite bans that are to be reviewed within 1 week of placement by the Management Team. Senior Moderator Senior Moderators are the senior point of contact for ban appeals, and other issues relating to their server. Senior Moderators are responsible for designing and managing server rule-sets and procedures with the guidance of the Server Manager. Senior Moderators are also expected to assist Trial Moderators and help them out in helpdesk. Lastly, Senior Moderators are responsible for dealing with appeals relating to bans placed by other non-management server staff members.
