4 pointsi say play how you want to play. not how you want others to play. there shouldn't be extra restrictions because you (not OP specifically) don't like how others play. As Grub said, if you want more milsim go join a unit and play a mission every saturday like everyone else
-
3 pointsIs this a Milsim server? Dont think it was ever the intention of making it so. By making further restrictions all you accomplish is alienating a lot of players, myself included. If they want to wear ghillies and bergens and pack AT and long range scopes it doesn't/shouldn't really impact on anyone. If you are sick of landing on a hill and sniping from there then dont, nothing from stopping you from giving different LZ locs to the pilot or driving in yourself or doing something different. Dont get salty cause players in a public server dont behave/play how you want them to play/behave. Problem is that everyone knows each AO and how each AO plays. Everyone knows the best sniping locs, everyone knows the best routes to take, everyone knows there are 6 enemy snipers, 3 enemy statics, 2 AA vics, Tower and HQ. If you want to change it up look at how the AO is set up and how the AI responds. I play on this server for fun and i play on another Milsim server for the immersion of what milsim provides. I dont believe you should confuse the types of servers you want to run. If you want to run Milsim do it and do it properly so that you satisfy the peeps that play milsim. And if you just want a muck around I&A server then keep it simple. combing the two types is just going to get peeps frustrated. Id wager most players that play I&A dont want Milsim type of restrictions proposed above because it is too restrictive and counter intuitive in a public server. However if there was a dedicated StrayaGaming Milsim server, id be in that. my two cents worth.

2 pointsThis update will be applied to Tanoa first for testing, before being available on Altis as well this weekend. We have added support for the Achilles mod, which adds a lot of new functionality to Zeus. This will make it easier for us to create fun, dynamic and more diverse missions for you guys. Players do not need to load into the server with Achilles or CBA loaded. In the next couple of weeks, I will be going through the discussions and suggestions from the past couple of months that haven't been responded to and we will be discussing them amongst staff. As always, please report any bugs you find on the bug tracker.

1 pointSo Altis as of late is getting very rinse and repeat. Land on the biggest hill, take out everything in sight, then move into the AO. I propose limiting high power scopes to marksman and Sniper roles. Infantry should be limited to the smaller scopes. Scenes like this is all too common

1 pointFirst of all, i feel its time to clear the air on AoW a little bit and try change the way people perceive us ( After that we will move onto ramming ), Everyone is entitled to an opinion but its easy to have an image drawn without the full backstory. We have 3 EU players in a 20 man gang. ( Can anyone actually name them, Or is it presumed all AoW is EU when you die?) who won’t be affected by the ping change they all play well below the change ( 500 to 400 was actually pretty high anyway in hindsight it's a minor change ). This restriction will have a bigger effect on Australians with internet that spikes and other foreign players on the server with a bad link. Example: Jeb, Jot, iamjack, Chris, Bob, luke, Home, We are painted as the big bad rebel gang that's out to dismantle the police force, however this isn’t the case. Most of us want to see the APD succeed, we need them to survive for us to survive. The current state of the server is fueled by Cop vs Rebel content and one cannot operate without the other. A few of our members may occasionally bash cops, but this goes both ways. There are multiple cops who enjoy the banter and memes ( Toxicity is punished ) . We currently have a decent relationship with a number of police players in and outside of the game and we’d like to keep it that way. We have helped the server progress which a lot of people don’t recognise ( See below ) - Rejected bribery and an attempted poaching from another server and stuck by while other top gangs left. - Provide feedback on both police and rebel faction - Provided content in the form of media to the community (Montages, etc) - Worked with senior staff on event and event ideas - “Adopt A Gang” Program, Were we work with smaller gangs to help grow them. - Worked with @James32 to create a rebel discord for ALL rebel players and gangs - Provided CQC and OG arm servers at our expense for anyone to use and practice. We are one of the only few top gangs left in the server. There’s currently AoW and Sequel who stand a fighting chance against the police in major crimes. If you push the rebels out, the cops will spend most of their time in Sydney and major crimes will become dead content. There are many reasons why the APD is currently struggling at major crimes, 2-3 EU players is not one of them. The leading factor we feel is armour on armour, You stack multiple officers into a hunter and the driver is often someone who does not know who to deal with rams, which results in multiple deaths for stupid reasons ( Ramming is an art, If not done correctly you die ) . For someone that is experienced with how ramming works, they’re going to have an advantage over someone who doesn’t regardless of the ping difference between the two drivers. Moving forward, Personally and alot of us within the gang agree the problem lies with armour on armour ramming, Coupled with people who don't understand how ramming works and the fact that Arma 3 has terrible physics when it comes to collisions. Having a high ping might have some minor advantage but not to the point its game breaking. A good example here is the APD has some very high ping players who always die to rams as they don't understand how it works. There are multiple factors that contribute to the broken state of ramming on the server. -FPS -Multiple people and vehicles in a single area. (Refer to the start of this video around 20 seconds in) Here) Credit @Asnee -Server performance -Hitbox ( Here , Sorry lads blew the design budget on EU Recruitment ) -Ping Spikes and bandwidth -Broken Arma Physics ( Refer too Here ) With everything stated above its easy to see why it should be looked into, There are so many factors that can change the outcome of if someone lives or dies. Examples of how ramming is broken and server performance issues underload (None of these were done by players with high ping): Example 1. ( Both Australian, Both 20 ping ) Example 2. ( Space ifrit from Australian on Australian ram ) Example 3. ( AoW dying to tower lag ) Example 4. ( Example of what EU deals with on AU servers ) Example 5 ( Another example of server lag and towers ) Rather than attempting to push out certain players within the community with a band-aid fix, Look at one of the leading causes that promoted the recent change and some ideas below to better it 1. Leave armour on armour a thing, Continue to let it cause issues and people complain. 2. Move it to the VDM ruleset, Remove ramming all together ( This will still probably upset people as its essential to rebel combat against HMG etc etc ) 3. ( Personally my favorite ) Add a seatbelt script as people have suggested. If seatbelt is active and you are rammed vehicle is disabled but you take no damage, Can't decamp ( leave vehicle ) until seatbelt is removed ( put on timer so it has risk v reward ) If seat belt is not active, You die as normal. ( This solution would also benefit sydney and trolls. ) ( Unsure the limitations on this though ) Credit to Martyn 4. Alternative fix not listed Closing Statement, At the end of the day this change doesn't affect how we will play on the server, If you wish to dislike us you are well within your rights, Just remember its a video game, We want to see all parties enjoy every aspect of the server its disheartening to see a few people with a target on their backs because people are upset. Believe it or not the EU lads are good dudes who have issues versing AU people too most of them play straya as a safe haven to chill and relax on ( They even enjoy playing police in the offpeak hours ), They use qilins as generally ifrits blow up and they die on impact. Both parties experience tower lag when the server is underload, Its unavoidable, Majority of us too hate ramming, Its bad combat and dirty. But its within the ruleset. I would rather throw us into the spotlight and let people see a little of what normally isnt if it opens a discussion on a fix Rather than have people pushed out of the community on both sides, Finally credit to @Wex For help and input provided in this post. Hopefully this can turn into a civil discussion and not expload into some toxic aids.

1 pointContracting.... where do i start. Its something that many people dont like, which can be understandable in some cases. Pre wipe SIS had a really good contract going cleaning up streets, banks, etc. Some contractors abused the power and didn't abide to the contract. I know SIS wasn't always perfect but i feel we did a lot of good. I cant list much of what we did since there maybe some triggered person out there who doesn't know how the cops got his house Loc. Im wondering what are players thoughts on contractors making a return as i have some of the SIS OGs wanting to make a come back. I know some admins didn't like the way we work like being to secret but hey we are called Secret Intelligence Service for a reason, We work in the shadows, the information that SIS knew could cause a lot of shit. Now the topic of cops just being salty to us and not working this us because "We have more power", at any point the Cops could tell us to take a hike and we have to leave i wonder who as the power. Im not looking to start any shit with admins or other players. SIS as a group was stuffed around a lot after the wipe. I just want players thoughts on SIS making a come back.

1 pointOperation Resolute Justice Briefing: One of our GhostHawks moving from a NATO airbase has been engaged by a concealed anti-air battery. The craft was carrying Major General Jason Atwood, NATO Chief-Of-Staff for NATO Mediterranean Command. The aircraft was forced down in the vicinity of the town of Oreokastro. We have lost all communications with the crew, and the other two helicopters were not able to mount a successful rescue at the time. NATO, with the assistance of Task Force Straya, will be deployed to the area in order to secure the extraction of the Major-General stranded on the ground. Mission: Task Force Straya is to secure the crash site on Sun 27 Jan 2019 and execute the safe extraction of Major-General Atwood. The mission will be executed as follows: Intent: Three squads will be deployed, with assorted assets, under the command of @Guardian, callsign Hades. Callsign Phantom will establish an observation post over the town of Oreokastro and provide the Operation Commander with detailed reconnaissance of CSAT forces in the area. They may be required to engage HVTs as required. Callsign Demon will establish a cordon on the two roads leading into the town, as these are the assessed enemy approach routes with light armour and infantry. They will prevent any CSAT forces from interfering with Callsign Angel. Callsign Angel will move into the AO, secure the crash site and survivors and establish an LZ with which to extract the survivor(s). Admin/Logistics: Dress/Equipment: As this is a Nato-sponsored mission, all participants will be required to wear the standard-issue Nato beret. Weapons: Each squad, other than Phantom, should include 1 x Missile Specialist AT and 1 x Machine Gunner. Ammunition: Individual preference Transport: Callsign Demon will travel by vehicle (Hunter MRAP, Marshall) Callsign Angel will travel by helicopter (Ghost Hawk) Callsign Phantom will travel by light helicopter and move in on foot Medical: As per I&A Standard practise. Treat survivors at the site and return all personnel to NATO on mission completion. Command/Signals Overall Commander is: Guardian The Commander's callsign will be Hades. Phantom Commander is: Decibel_SPL Angel Commander is: Swordster Demon Commander is: Zombine45 Once you’re assigned your squad, tune to the appropriate channel on Altis server. All Commanders should be in the Teamspeak I&A Infantry channel. No-one else is to use this channel.

1 pointThere are some locations across the island of Altis that is not being used. Just Northeast from the base, there is an abandoned hotel and resort. I believe that it would be nice if we can conduct a special event mission in that area. Missions that could be done: Multiple-hostage rescue mission HVT assassination - most suitable for snipers; the assassin must get through patrols without being detected (idealistically)

1 pointeven with a crew you cant out run those rockets this vid is me driver. brid gunner? and fitz commander maybe if we deployed smoke but even then

1 pointThe drug shipment actually occasionally spawns here and it's usually good fun if there are people to contest it. I remember back in the day @Spectral would host missions here. Ahhh yes. Good old ghost hotel.

1 pointThese are all good points and I will point out everyone likes to play their game their way and that's really the flexibility in invade and Annex. Sometimes I'm full kit carrying the kitchen sink, other times I will go into an ao with clothes and a handgun with 1 clip and make it a requirement to get everything I need from the dead. In my eyes if players (much like what @War Machine has pointed out) want to be full mil Sim they can by limiting themselves .
-
1 pointI don't see my suggestions as making the server MilSim, I see it more as balancing roles.
-
1 pointWhile for the most part I agree with the sentiment of getting stuck into Achmed #412 from the CSAT Army at close range, I've often found that infantry need an increased AT ability than MAAWS or RPG-42 can provide - especially when CAS is unavailable for periods of time due to a number of circumstances. For example, if a tank is creating several new orifices in our bodies without consent, we can't get a lase on it and hold it. So having a wire/laser guided AT capacity on the ground is key. But I would support a limit on the scopes - then again I'm a little old fashioned and a man of principle
-
1 pointOn the server you need to carry a mine detector because you get idiots running into the minefield to blow up the tower. They usually take out a few people
-
1 pointAs for me, I although I don't have to do it, I still did ground myself to at least 90% mil-sim mentality in this server. The only reason that I bought this game (ArmA 3) is because of it's realistic mil-sim aspect that is not so common with other games such as Call of Duty, Counter Strike, Battlefield, and many more. So, what I did is that: adjust my weapon sway to vanilla (1.1) in the server's option menu limit my ammo capacity to 6 mags only for rifles, 3 mags at most for support weapons (e.i. machine guns) 2 grenades regularly and 2 smoke grenades 5 first aid kits if I'm playing as an Rifleman AT, I'm limited to 2 rockets; one is already loaded to the launcher if I'm a medic, I bring 5 extra first aid kits ans 2 more smoke grenades if I'm a sapper, I bring a mine detector, 4 explosives/1 stachel charge, and a toolkit (for disarming explosives/fixing military assets) if I'm a sniper, I'm limited to 3 extra mags of M320/GM6 I don't wear that over protective armor with kevlar arm protection because it's too heavy I don't usu long range scopes if I'm not a marksman or a sniper.

1 pointIm 40/60 on fp only. The main reason is I've never excluded third person because irl you have environment awareness that can't be duplicated in a game like Arma . Third person does to some extent provide this. Just my opinion.
-
1 pointNo handicap or anything like that has been placed on the tanks. The problem (for me at least) since the Tank update a while back, is the top-down Titan rockets and the Vorona rockets that the enemies use. These are an instant kill almost every time, so the old strategy of driving straight into the AO and killing everything doesn't work so well anymore.
-
1 pointTank damage models changed a fair bit when the tanks DLC came in, they're much more resilient from the front. But if you feel you're dying too much, try playing more defensively with the tank, park it so that only the turret is visible, the turret has a lot more armour than the hull and you're much more likely to survive a hit. It also decreases the chance that the enemy actually see you.

1 pointI have seen contracting groups work extremely well on other servers, Forcegaming had Blackwater which was a step above the police force they were essentially a PMC. GTA had NATO, When NATO were called rebels ran for the hills. I don't see contractors having a big of part to play as they have on other servers but i want to see them included, Adds another faction of roleplay, More combat to KoS zones and more numbers the APD can call on in times of need, I think they need to be Incorporated better somehow though, No bigger meme than seeing "SIS responding to bank" than half of them killed by the APD ?
